I see no conflict that would keep Shep from continuing to do Michigan basketball. You can tell from listening to him that he LOVES that announcing gig.  Tigers season is definitely OVER come Sept. 30 every year. No conflict there.  As for those years when we're in the Final Four, hopefully each year from here on out, it isn't unheard of for a baseball play-by-play guy to miss a game here and there.  Heck, Joe Davis misses every summer weekend from the Dodgers play-by-play booth for network announcing gigs. Plus, Opening Day now occurs prior to Final Four weekend.

What do you want, sleepovers with the players?

01/07/2019 - 12:15am Excuse me?

Excuse me?

01/05/2019 - 7:09pm Who knew Pierre McGuire…

Who knew Pierre McGuire would have such good Michigan and college hockey stories?  Good thing for us he LOST the recruiting battle way back when for Brian Wiseman!

01/05/2019 - 4:34pm The attendance there looks…

The attendance there looks like an MSU football game.

12/31/2018 - 5:04pm BTN-Plus (which this game…

BTN-Plus (which this game was not on, and BTN charges you more for) are games announced and staffed by students.  Feel blessed that you don't have to watch/listen to such games.

But BTN itself, and FSN, should be showing much more hockey than they have been doing.  Probably a continuing cutback by BTN from showing non-revenue sports, aside from the conference championship events.  Heck, I've noticed much less Michigan softball and baseball during the spring seasons too.

12/30/2018 - 2:49pm When did they STOP…

When did they STOP televising the whole GLI?

12/24/2018 - 2:53pm Yes, they matter.  Think of…

Yes, they matter.  Think of how many fake No. 1 or No. 2 seeds MSU got over the years and then parlayed that into a Final Four and "Mr. March" accolades that they did not deserve.  Idiot committee members are totally swayed by rankings.

Somehow you know the Poll people will find a way to not move us up.

Where was he going?

12/20/2018 - 6:01pm San Diego isn't too shabby,…

San Diego isn't too shabby, other than the Stadium is a disaster and chased an NFL franchise away.  Although if we didn't play in the Holiday Bowl with last year's record, I can't imagine what it would take for us to "slip" to this bowl.

Regarding Las Vegas...... the Big Ten should position itself to get into this game when the bowl moves to the new stadium in two years and thankfully dumps the Mountain West.  Heck, I'd take Big Ten #2/3 selection vs. Pac-12 #2/3 as long as they move the bowl to New Year's Eve or Day.  Watch for the Las Vegas Bowl to take off!!

12/20/2018 - 12:56pm Figured there would be more…

Figured there would be more interest in a Fiesta Bowl where one of the squads is playing for a back-to-back national championship!!

12/12/2018 - 1:04pm Won't the scalping cost for…

Won't the scalping cost for ND, MSU, and OSU altogether be cheaper than the season package plus PSL fee at this point?  I don't know about anyone else, but I could pass on Rutgers, MTSU, Army and Iowa.  Besides, I'd rather see us play at Wisconsin and Penn State.

12/06/2018 - 6:27pm Not interested in all in…

Not interested in all in paying for "BTN-Plus."  Put the games on the BTN channel we're already paying for.  (Has anyone read their cable bill lately?)

Where else would Shea be playing next year?

12/03/2018 - 2:53pm You would be surprised how…

You would be surprised how many football seats remain empty.  Often no one notices because everyone in the football bench seating just spreads out more and uses the extra room.  You can't spread out at Crisler Center to mask the empty seats.  When a seat is empty, it's empty.

How many top 25 wins do you need to get a No. 1 vote in this poll?

12/02/2018 - 8:03pm It is certainly extremely…

It is certainly extremely creepy.  Our players/coaches are not going to the Bowl to hangout with fans.  No one needs to know what hotel they're staying in.

11/20/2018 - 9:46pm All these kind of posts do…

All these kind of posts do is help set prices for the professional scalpers and unscrupulous fans who only got extra tickets in order to turn them into quick bucks.  Not sure why these posts keep being repeated year after year.  When you tell people to buy at such-and-such price, where do you think the scalpers set their prices?  About a $100-$200 or more above that.  Thanks!

Donating...... And call me political if you want (don't care!), but we all need everyone to be a lot less cruel, whether you are an individual, a legislator, in the Executive Branch, or a judge, when it comes to helping those who need it get access to the medical care they require without being drastically affected financially. We all have someone in our family or circle of friends who we need the World to be a lot nicer to.

How about Harvard grad Merrick Garland?

05/06/2018 - 4:07pm The "warning Freep" nonsense

The "warning Freep" nonsense is so exhausted and needs to be retired already.  We all read the Freep, the coaches read the Freep, the players read the Freep, it's one of the few outlets left that actually still covers Michigan athletics on a Daily basis, paid for its reporter to go to Europe the last two years.  Time to grow up, folks!

I’m sure Hennessy’s in Hermosa Beach, CA will have the game will full sound as always.

04/01/2018 - 11:24pm Stay away from the team send

Stay away from the team send off. Way too crowded, not enough room for everyone by a long shot. Just let the kids get on the bus and cheer them when they get to the Alamodome. And stay away from the team hotel. Security is blocking access unless you’re a hotel guest anyway.

04/01/2018 - 11:21pm Also on the ground...... do

Also on the ground...... do not expect your cell service to work well enough to buy tickets within 1.5 miles of the game site. Too many people around and too little cell service. Buy em when you can.
(If desperate, head to the StubHub service center at 210 W Market Street.)

If using flash seats, set it up and screen shot your ticket. Won’t be any reliable cell service anywhere near the Dome

03/26/2018 - 3:21pm Whenever someone from the

Whenever someone from the Alumni Association calls/emails me begging me to pay their High Fee to join the association, I simply respond that I will be using what I "would" pay to the association to pay the markup on secondary market tickets instead of giving that money to the Alumni Association. The only access the Association ever has to game tickets for anything is through high-priced travel packages for the extremely rich.  Thus, my annual fee dollars will be going to Stubhub, Vivid Seats, etc., rather than to an Association that never has access to tickets and can never organize pregame events for an ocassion like this.

03/24/2018 - 9:49am There is nothing organized,

There is nothing organized, but plenty of watering holes around LA Live. (There was nothing “organized” about Tom Urbans on Thursday. Nothing.)

03/21/2018 - 6:19pm The little schools (and their

The little schools (and their coaches) are always going to be more in favor of getting a chance against the bigger schools in an empty Midwest Regional arena rather than say a full house in a single- or best-of-three series at a Michigan, Notre Dame, BU or Denver.  Won't ever change.  Schools such as Tech, and in other years, Ferris, LSSU, BG, etc, believe they would never be high enough in the rankings to host, so they would rather take their chances in an empty out-of-the-way regional arena.

03/21/2018 - 12:05pm Expect a super long line at

Expect a super long line at the Stubhub pickup as all sellable tickets for this event are hard copy tickets.  They typically do not have enough staff to move people through the line and I imagine there will be hundreds if not thousands of people trying to pick up their tickets in the hours before gametime.

03/21/2018 - 12:00pm Any racism inferred is yours

Any racism inferred is yours alone.  You're just guessing.

03/21/2018 - 8:19am No, it's just irresponsible

No, it's just irresponsible to advise people that have already forked out $1,000 or so in airfare and tickets to take trains that don't go anywhere, don't run on regular schedules and are full of dangerous people. Have you ever been on one of these trains? Ever riden the Blue Line through South L.A.?  (But people are actually advising visitors to take this route from LAX?)  Also, I checked and there is no Expo Line station next to your Travelodge so not sure why you would tell people otherwise. Just drive, Baby!  Going cheap on the ground transportation when you're already spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars to be here is just a huge mistake.

03/20/2018 - 11:25pm Not even sure where this

Not even sure where this train nonsense is coming from.  We are not a train town! Period.

It is beyond hilarious that folks somehow believe trains, arriving at imaginary eight-minute intervals, are going to wisk you around this town.

And God help anyone who stays at a Travelodge in this county or anywhere in "Hollywood" aside from the Loews.  God help you!

03/20/2018 - 7:31pm
This perfectly explains the

This perfectly explains the LA transit experience:

It has no transfers/intersects no other lines in between, so if you're near it, great, if not you can't use it.

Several Expo Line stops have free parking garages on the Westside or street parking nearby if you want to subway it.

To add:  unlikely any of the Expo Line parking garages will have spaces in advance of a Thursday afternoon game.  Transit parkers fill them up and don't leave until 5:30-6:30 pm.  And those spots are not free!

BTW, what's left of our DTLA hotels are going for $250/$300 night and more.  Welcome!

03/20/2018 - 7:03pm A lot wrong here:No one in

A lot wrong here:

No one in LA takes trains.  There's is also no "Metrolink" from the Airport to Staples Center.  Now, you may take a shuttle to a little train that runs once an hour and transfers and thereafter stops at every corner in one of the worst areas of all of America, where you may or may not be dispossed of your belongings, but to each his own.  Amtrak?  Get ready for two subway transfers to get you to Staples Center.  In other words, just Drive.  Rental car or car-for-hire.   This is not NYC, London, Paris or Toyko.  We do not have trains that go everywhere, and certainly not to/from the airport.

Booze.  IIRC, the NCAA does not allow it at its events (unless you're in the NCAA suite). Better fill up at LA Live.

If you try to intercept a client from a professional scalper in this town, may God help you.

Stubhub has an office in or next to LA Live. Starbucks too!

Be forewarned, all of the LA Live places will fill up to capacity hours before the game. All of them.

There is also no time that "Rush Hour" is OVER in LA.  You will experience traffic at all hours of the day.  Just how it is.  That includes Saturday.  Yes, wait until you see Saturday rush hour.

Also be forewarned that ALL of DTLA is under constructon, all of that international money pouring in.  KAL just finished off the talllest buidling west of the Mississippi and now Chinese investors are building five huge towers across the street from Staples.

Which means:  arrive way, way earlier than you would ever think to get to a sporting event, between traffic, parking options, securtiy, etc.  You will not be getting from the Westside to DTLA in less than an hour.  Ever.

Maybe you can ride in on Kobe's chopper?  I'm sure he's going to check out JPoole.  Back in the day, Kobe used to land that thing on top of the JW at LA Live.

03/19/2018 - 8:27pm Yes, those scoundrels read

Yes, those scoundrels read the papers, interwebs and freeps of the world.  Landlord just raised my rent 15 percent, quoting a 15 percent figure he read in the LA Times.  All it takes is one story/post about "How big the demand for tickets is" at Staples Center this weekend for prices to go sky-high.  No need to give them any reason to go higher.

03/19/2018 - 5:04pm Same game.  One session on

Same game.  One session on Thursday, second game starts 30 minutes or so after the first ends.

03/19/2018 - 5:02pm No ticket write-up needed

PLEASE DO NOT do a ticketing write-up!  Scalpers/sellers monitor this stuff and adjust their prices accordingly.  Write-ups (including the obligatory Freep ticketing non-story) only increase prices for true fans who are now trying to buy.  We all know how Stubhub works.  Thanks!
