OT: OSU lands a QB for their 2024 class, not as good as Davis.
After getting jilted by Dylan Raiola, the Buckeyes scrambled to land some chump named Air Noland, #84 on the 247 composite. I love out recruiting them for the QB position.
That’s not a bad consolation prize, to be honest…..
Still a top-100 player. He’ll be fine for them. Given the weapons he’s going to have at his disposal, smart money suggests he will be much more than fine.
Bad post is bad.
…should feel bad too or no?
Can confirm his feelings should feel bad.
Calling a HS kid a chump, a kid who wants to play QB at a decent school?
Old guy words to a fellow old guy: you're old enough to know better. Advice? Always take the high road...
Grampy (OP): Take a careful look at the class rankings.

Notice OSU's average player ranking. Those fuckers are still recruiting well. They've been recruiting at that level since at least the Fickell-Meyer transition many years ago. I realize Michigan seems to temporarily have their number, but with elite Jimmys and Joes they're going to remain capable of giving a school like Georgia a scare (and maybe even beating Michigan again).
I feel like their recruiting took a step forward under third base the last few years.
Recruiting valuations are missing an important factor imo, although they do a pretty solid job of predicting future performance on the aggregate.
There needs to be weightings put on the different positions imo. An elite edge rusher, should have a greater weighting than a 5* receiver for example.
QB, D-line, and O-line - positions involved in every play on the field (outside special teams), should probably be given higher weightings.
Some skill position players simply aren’t generally involved in enough plays to have as great an impact.
Recruiting 2 - 5* receivers in a class when 3 - 5* WRs still have seasons left of eligibility seems kind of crazy. Still OSU is pulling in high 4s and 5s at every position group. Its is absolute trash that they have to portal in a decent CB.
Bash the university for eternity, yes....bash a high school kid, just no...
Air Nolan looks like a dangerous football player.
Good arm, accurate passer, quick release, championship team, good leader, track man, can scramble, runs RPO well.
This is a great pick up for OSU. Especially after losing out on their other top picks they just step in and grab this kid.
I believe that this is the 1st Ryan Day QB recruit that is a legit threat to run the ball.
Well. OSU did out recruit us for a QB with a way cooler name. So there’s that.
Who took a dump in your Easter basket? Was it a Buckeye?
That's why you should never use a cooler for an Easter Basket.
I'd love to see this post get deleted.
Wait til Air learns that his namesake up north is cold and full of snowflakes and flu virus.
the kid actually looks really good. throes it really well and has good mobility. Honestly with their system, they don't need a "stud" QB, even though they get them anyway
Logged in just to down vote. Don’t call high school kids/recruits chumps. Terrible look.
Ah yes, the ol' "make a shitpost I think everyone's gonna love that meets universal scorn and gets downvoted into the 7th level of hell."
A timeless mgoblog tradition.
Wait until he follows all the unwritten board rules to a T but then misses a comma in the follow up comment.
Good enough to also get an Alabama offer. I'm not excited about this development at all. I hope he vastly underperforms his ranking and offer list.
Offers from Oregon, Alabama, Clemson, Auburn. Seems to me they got somebody who is maybe undervalued by the services. Time will tell.
He is ranked #7 QB and #55 overall. Not bad for OSUs 4th option.
Idk how you figure he’s undervalued by the services. He’s well inside the top 100 and top 10 at his position
He's definitely not a chump, but:
- OSU was his 3rd choice after Miami and Bama
- Didn't have a Georgia offer
- He was OSU's 3rd choice
Crazy how their 3rd best QB prospect this recruiting season would be our 3rd best the last decade. Ugh.
This is the “giving the enemy bulletin board material” example we probably should try to avoid.
Especially on the kid’s first day as a buckeye, you think he’s not going to remember that little jab for eternity?
It's a horrible post by the OP, but if this kid ends up ever a down for OSU he's going to hear ten times worse from his own fan base.
Seriously?
Will that bulletin board include the 99% of UM fans on this board knocking the OP for his shit-post?
I’d like to hope he’d have the patience to see our reasonable response, but in my experience buckeyes tend to only read headlines
This is awful
If he ends up ranked higher than Davis at the end of the cycle you'll post about them having a better ranked QB recruit I'm sure.
Also, not remotely OT.
Am I the only one who read the OP sarcastically? Maybe I’m giving credit where it isn’t due, but the whole “they had to settle for the 84th best player in the country” seemed somewhat self-aware.
edit: especially with the use of “chump” like do people say that world seriously ever lol
On second glance I agree with you a little bit. OP's title doesn't have as much wiggle room as what I see in the post.
If it is sarcastic, it’s not clear enough to go without the OP noting it’s sarcasm. There are certainly Michigan fans who share this view and are sharing it on various message boards and social media posts.
With the transfer portal, you can always get a disgruntled 5 star QB that doesn't get to start as a freshman or sophomore.
Is this a serious post?
Take this kind of post straight on over to RCMB. You will get upvotes there.
God I hate this post on so many levels. First and foremost we have NO CLUE at this point if their teenager will be better than our teenager when they actually play. Secondly I hate negative posts about teenagers in general and lastly, I hate gloating over perceived recruiting success when we, of all fan bases, know development is exponentially more important than recruiting star ratings when it comes to success on the field.
Especially considering OSU over Michigan is a MSU fans second favorite victory of the year. Most of you understand Im not joking.
Weird post. As others have said, this is a pretty coveted kid and he's pretty damn good himself. He'll probably be one of the best QBs in the country like every other OSU is.
The guy is pretty good. This is a silly post.
Seriously dude? they are still out-recruiting Michigan and this kid is NO chump.
Cool name--Air is his legal middle name (Prentiss Air Noland), after his father who was nicknamed Air Jordan in high school.
Congratulations, you get Dumb post of the year.....and it's only April.
Maybe he's in a time warp and thinks its April 1st.
Wow! Amazing qb. Reading his scouting report he could be elite. I really wish osu got to experience the anguish we did but they rarely lose so their recruiting keeps chugging along. I hope we can match them in the recruiting rankings and beat them on the field. These last two years have been glorious
CJ Stroud may be the number one pick in this year’s draft and he was 0-2 against us. JT Barrett barely made an NFL practice squad but was 4-0. Maybe we are better off if they have a top notch QB.
That’s the Urban Meyer effect.
