Awards & Honors: Patterson Top 20 Finalist for Unitas Golden Arm Award
October 8th, 2019 at 4:36 PM ^
Why???
October 8th, 2019 at 4:58 PM ^
Well according to our head coach, the offense is hitting its stride!
October 8th, 2019 at 5:51 PM ^
Just not hitting our receivers in stride.
October 8th, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
Or being thrown to striding receivers at all, most of the time...
October 8th, 2019 at 9:46 PM ^
????

October 8th, 2019 at 4:40 PM ^
Maybe it’s top 20 worst QB’s
October 8th, 2019 at 4:41 PM ^
SEHA SUX!1!!11!
just thought i'd try to beat the nitwits to it.
October 8th, 2019 at 9:57 PM ^
Your spelling sucks, too!
October 8th, 2019 at 4:42 PM ^
No wonder his throws are always late.
Gold so much heavier than muscle, bones, tendons, and flesh.
October 8th, 2019 at 4:42 PM ^
... what?
October 8th, 2019 at 5:01 PM ^
Good to see you, Wade Phillips.
October 8th, 2019 at 4:44 PM ^
Is this like being a Parade All American?
October 8th, 2019 at 4:45 PM ^
How about the Glass Joe award?
October 8th, 2019 at 4:48 PM ^
I remember when people here were championing JOK when Speight wasn’t doing well, then championing Brandon Peters when JOK was JOK. And then Brandon Peters was a space cadet so people were throwing roses in the streets when Shea transferred in.
Amazing.
October 8th, 2019 at 5:03 PM ^
Yes, the reaction to Shea transferring was not unlike that received by a certain head coach who was himself a former Michigan QB . . . .
October 8th, 2019 at 5:18 PM ^
Amazing that people want better QB play? Maybe you aren't old enough to expect better than peak Wilton Speight.
October 8th, 2019 at 5:22 PM ^
How about peak Jake Rudock?
October 8th, 2019 at 5:56 PM ^
Either of them would have gotten us into the playoffs in 2016.
Speight was pretty damn good for a 3 star nobody when he was healthy and had Fisch as OC.
October 8th, 2019 at 6:21 PM ^
I would give my pinky for Peak Speight right now on this team.
October 8th, 2019 at 9:08 PM ^
Holy shit. Speight in this offense would be #statueinspace ... folks need to think before they post. Would we all love to see Wilton run that arc read keeper for 2 yards. NOT
October 8th, 2019 at 11:10 PM ^
Speight had an uncanny pocket presence and seemed to have an innate sense for the rush. He was big but he could squirm out of a sack and get off an accurate pass under pressure like nobody's business.
October 9th, 2019 at 1:17 AM ^
Would it really matter. Shea rarely keeps it anyway.
October 8th, 2019 at 9:09 PM ^
I’ll take it a step further; one finger, one toe. Junior year WS was a solid game manager that made mostly the correct decisions. Had he taken an appropriate step forward to senior year and never gotten assaulted in the Purdue game, that season would have been vastly different.
October 8th, 2019 at 11:01 PM ^
Peak Jake Rudock came in about 3 games too late into the season and is starting to look like an exception to the rule.
October 9th, 2019 at 1:15 AM ^
I guess your point just proves Harbaugh can't develop a decent QB.
October 9th, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
And we wanted Dreisbach or Brady before Griese won a MNC...then we wanted Henson over Brady until Brady won his second Superbowl...then we wanted anyone over Navarre until he beat the Bucks in 03...then we swore Matt G would have been better than Henne and Mallett would too but one was injured and the other sucked and was such a dbag everyone at Schembechler Hall hated him...until the following season when we all wished he hadn't transferred
Nothing new under the Sun
October 8th, 2019 at 4:50 PM ^
Maybe selection committee attended some of the practices over the last week.
October 8th, 2019 at 5:06 PM ^
What a Joke. I've defended Shea a lot, but after Wisconsin I lost all hope in him. Unfortunately DCaff got hurt, otherwise I think he would've taken over as starter. Now they're forced to roll with Shea because Milton is just not quite there... or is he? That's what everyone said about Peters in 2017 and when he finally did start he was clearly better than O'Korn, so who knows.
October 8th, 2019 at 5:43 PM ^
We’re not seeing Shea’s ceiling right now. His first three years were better than this. Look at the staff and players and tell me what’s different from last year. There’s your answer to what’s wrong.
I am not going to be revisionist and say I didn’t like the off-season move. I am just going to say that I was wrong, like everybody else.
October 8th, 2019 at 9:29 PM ^
QBR this year is 130. Last year at this stage he was 160 (like best in UM history). Shea is the same QB but the scheme is different and too dogmatic. Gattis needs to adapt or this season is going to crash and burn. Not because Shea is a bad QB. Great coaches adapt their scheme to fit it's personnel. The problem is coaching not players.
October 8th, 2019 at 5:58 PM ^
Peters was lazy and didn't put the work in until he became the backup. He admitted it himself.
October 8th, 2019 at 5:13 PM ^
20 bucks he throws at least 3 TDS this Saturday. No comment on what he’ll do against PSU though.
October 8th, 2019 at 5:25 PM ^
I’ll take that bet
October 8th, 2019 at 9:10 PM ^
Here to officiate
October 9th, 2019 at 3:11 PM ^
I'm here to moderate your comment... and I'd like to speak with your supervisor!
October 8th, 2019 at 5:13 PM ^
(Speaker walks up to the podium and taps the microphone), "ahem, is this thing on?"
"20th place goes to.... (Opens envelope) Shea Patterson from The University of Michigan!".
October 8th, 2019 at 7:27 PM ^
It would actually be impressive for Shea to get #20--considering it would be wildly inaccurate, if not apocryphal.
If I was #21, I'd be pissed.
October 8th, 2019 at 5:16 PM ^
Elmo has a better chance of winning.
October 8th, 2019 at 5:17 PM ^
Maybe if we win out
October 8th, 2019 at 5:19 PM ^
Shea had the option to be named for this award but read about it and gave it away instead of keeping it.
October 8th, 2019 at 5:21 PM ^
Are there only 15 QBs in the country?
October 8th, 2019 at 5:25 PM ^
I'm in the minority, but I'm all in for supporting our quarterback and encouraging him. We all can improve so I am hoping the staff and he will work some miraculous turnaround this week and next.
Go Shea and Go Blue!
October 8th, 2019 at 9:13 PM ^
I’m not super certain this puts you in the minority. I think when it comes down to kick off time, we all end up getting behind whomever walks onto the field. I’m sure there’s a faction of us who are being melodramatic to a degree, but certainly all of us would be excited and in support of Shea if he came out looking calm and competent. Point is, I think we all support the program and the team, we just enjoy the discussion and, if you are like me, you are inherently forced to discuss any morsel of football between Saturday evening and Saturday morning just to make it through the week.
