My prediction is Gary is taken earlier than recent reports suggest and that 5 qbs go in 1st rd. Those being Murray, Lock, Jones, Haskins and either Finley or Grier. In that order.
I’m a Bengals fan and I love BUSH. Unfortunately, I think they take Andre Dillard.
Good lord would it be sweet if 5 QBs went in round 1. That'll push 5 talented players into round 2 where my Browns are waiting at 49

In a perfect world (for me), Pittsburgh trades up and takes Bush. They haven’t been the same since Ryan Shazier was injured and I think Bush is going to have a similar impact for whichever team selects him. Sadly the secondary is weak too so we will likely take a CB.
Wow, the world is perfect today!! What a move by the Steelers !!
I have a hard time seeing Haskins being drafted behind Lock and Jones. I honestly wouldn't even be shocked if all the Murray talk was a smokescreen, and Haskins ends up being the first QB taken.
It would not be strange for any Michigan fan to think Haskins must be the best college QB since Andrew Luck, based solely on his performances vs UM.
To the rest of the world, however, Kyler is clearly better.
Let me put it this way:
WTF would Murray have done vs Michigan, with our longtime difficulties with running QBs?!
I HATE OSU, that being said I think Haskins is going to have a great career.
Lions draft-
Rd1- D. Bush
Rd2- C. Winovich
Rd3- D. Long
Rd4- WR
Rd5- K. Higdon
Rd6- Z. Gentry
Rd7- OL, JBB
Free agents- Kinnel, Mone
That’s what I always did in Madden drafts.
I could see them taking Long in the third round. Otherwise, unlikely to be any Michigan players.

Devin could very well go to the Lions.
He is a rare game changer for his position with his acceleration and angles.
Totally forgot about JBB. Was he injured at the end of the season? He was ghost down the stretch.
Yes, he had a knee injury that knocked him out of parts of games and the entirety of the OSU game. He also did not play in the Peach Bowl.
I'm a Lions fan too, and I wouldn't wish the Lions on any of Michigan's players.

Well with that roster we’ll have a strong beginning and middle of the season and then the players will sit out the playoffs?

Without looking at the roster, the Lions are going to take one of two paths over the next two years.
Path #1 is of course that they continue to be horrible this year and next and Matt Patricia is fired at the end of year 3. This is most likely.
Path #2 is that they get lucky in a couple of games and flirt with the playoffs or even get make it in at 9-7 before losing the wildcard game. The net effect of this will be to prolong the Matt Patricia era so that he has an opportunity to make the Lions horrible in years 3 and 4. Matt Patricia is fired at the end of year 4. This is less likely, but maximizes the damage Patricia can do.
April 25th, 2019 at 12:19 PM ^
Befuggled has summarized the Lions' existence perfectly.
The only thing I would add is that in Path #1, the Lions will be horrible through the first 13-14 games and then embark on a 2-3 game win streak to end the season still far from playoff contention yet dropping 8-10 slots in the draft.
Here's how I see 2019 playing out.
I think the Lions still cannot be trusted on the road but these away games: Oakland, Washington, & Denver are too craptastic even for the bumbling visiting Lions to blow it.
Lightning doesn't strike twice with two road wins in Arizona in a row however. Lions drop the opener.
In the division... they split with GB and Minny while dropping both to the Bears.
The rest of their wins come against teams which will have .500 records.
So the kitties are looking at 7 wins and 9 losses.
Losses: at Arizona, Los Angles Chargers, at Philadelphia, Kansas City, at Green Bay, at Chicago, Dallas, Chicago, at Minnesota
Wins: Minnesota, New York Giants, at Oakland, at Washington, Tampa Bay, at Denver, Green Bay
It’s really not that funny. Considering they were just there a couple years ago.
How many playoff wins do the Lions have under the Fords?
Oh, wait, my bad, the refs cost the Lions last time they were there.

You must really hate our former Wolverines to wish that horrid fate on them!!!

I think a bunch of Michigan men such as these could turn the Lions around!
I'd TOTALLY start rooting for the Lions with that draft!
Predictions:
* If (as I expect) Gentry goes undrafted, the jackals on this site will be all over him.
* Higdon (See Gentry, but not as much.)
I think David Long's position is the most interesting of the Michigan guys. I'll be interested to see where he goes.
Highly doubt either will go undrafted.
I guess late 2nd, early 3rd for Long.
I wouldn't at all be surprised if Gentry wasn't drafted.
Seriously, Gentry's pros and cons:
- Pro: Tall
- Cons: Everything else
He has no business entering the draft.
April 25th, 2019 at 11:42 AM ^
I feel like someone will take a stab in the 6th or 7th for him. He's tall and sometimes has good hands. Wouldn't be surprised to see someone see promise in him and take him on a flier
I think too that he'll get picked. I know his testing numbers weren't all world but he didn't look out of place on the football field. I never thought once during his whole career here that he wasn't strong enough or fast enough.
"Sometimes has good hands."
Really? I can't remember him every making a really remarkable catch with only his hands, but I sure remember him dropping a number of them.
Higdon will get drafted, most likely Day 3, but I'd be a little surprised if Gentry is. The upside is there for sure if he puts it all together, but he had a really bad case of the dropsies in crunch time this season. There's also plenty of TEs in this draft who just had better numbers in the season and far better combine results.
Gentry obviously felt like he had to declare and that's his business, but I felt like he made a mistake by declaring. If someone picks him up, it'll be a late-round flier. Someone who doesn't really need a TE now but sees the upside and is willing to try coaching him up.
Why would people be all over Higdon? He played out his eligibility.
Didn't play in the bowl game and had some words come out of his camp post OSU game that people didn't like.
Has nothing to do with him being drafted or not, but some people will go after him anyways.
Jim Harbaugh is not infallible. If ever there was a time for critique, it was post-OSU game.
April 25th, 2019 at 10:47 AM ^
You are right that JH is not infallible. And there was a lot to critique following OSU. That said, the big issue that many fans have with Higdon is that he was elected - accepted the role of - team captain, and then proceeded to sit out the bowl game. Sure, the game was somewhat meaningless, but many, including me, feel that those are not the actions of a team-first captain.
Bush didn’t play either(also a captain) and he didn’t get half the crap Higdon got on this board.
Yeah, but not by the players on the team!
That's OUR job!
April 25th, 2019 at 12:09 PM ^
Why Higdon? He is out of eligibility. Why would anyone be all over him? He played his full 4 years.
My prediction is DLong goes to a team that's already very good. That type of pick is how they got good, and why the good teams tend to stay good, while others roll back down the hill like Sisyphus's rock.
So we're talking Pats, Seahawks, Steelers, Ravens, maybe Packers.
DBush fits that mode too, but less so as he's a consensus 1st ed pick.
Lions prediction: Trade down from 8 to 15, taking Montez Sweat at 15. They then use the draft capital acquired in the first trade to move up from their 2nd into the 20s and they take either Irv Smith or Noah Fant.
I'd be shocked if Montez Sweat is on the board at 15. He might not be available at #8.
He also might be available in the 3rd round... ala Mr. Hurst. The heart issue has some legs
If we're just talking about talent and production, I'd agree. The heart issue, coupled with him choosing to watch the draft from home (I don't put much stock in the reason he gave), is what I'm basing this on. I do agree with the other poster who said the Lions might have taken him off their board, but I'm hoping they didn't.
April 25th, 2019 at 10:40 AM ^
Ah, I had not heard about any health issue. Sucks for the kid. He was targeted for the Top 10 the whole process from everything I've read.
I have a suspicion that Sweat is off of the Lions board all together due to his heart issues, just like im pretty positive Hurst was as well last year.
April 25th, 2019 at 10:31 AM ^
Please no Fant. The Lions are horrible period when it comes to maintaining a relievers longevity. Just get a lineman and be done with it! The Lions organization is mediocre at best at recognizing and developing talent! It hurts to be a lifelong Lions fan!
April 25th, 2019 at 10:54 AM ^
I like this situation a lot. And I want it to happen. But what I want and what the lions do never seems to happen.
I think what’s likely is they act stupid and take Noah Fant at 8. Stupid Lions. Already getting me angry and the draft hasn’t started yet.
Prediction: The Browns will draft OBJ in the first rd...
Whats that? That already happened? Oh okay, good.
I don't think Gary slides. I'm also on the fence about whether or not the Cards are going to take Kyler #1 overall. If they don't, I believe that could lead to a ripple effect with the other QBs in the draft. Will be interesting to see how it plays out!
Sparty on Twitter is going to lose its collective shit when Gary gets drafted, and "Rashan Gary Wonderlic" will be trending in Michigan.
