Charles Woodson: It’s okay to hold the coaches accountable
January 8th, 2019 at 3:24 AM ^
Awesome post!
January 8th, 2019 at 6:26 AM ^
This^^ Again and again. If Coach is to be a legend at Michigan as a coach, he needs to shed his allegiance to Bo ball. His love for all things Bo could be his biggest constraint.
January 8th, 2019 at 8:35 AM ^
Ok. Point taken.
But if why is he paying Pep top level coordinator money when he won't let Pep have the freedom to call his own plays?
Then Harbaugh needs to get out of the way....
January 8th, 2019 at 8:46 AM ^
Can I offer a 10 and 3 is good enough championship t-shirt to you?
January 8th, 2019 at 12:57 PM ^
Yes, that's what Harbaugh is, and what we hired. But we also hired him to win, and to succeed against the best competition. We didn't hire RichRod 2.0 who was determined to run his scheme whether his personnel fit it or not, and refuse to adapt if his team struggled to succeed in certain situations.
I like Harbaugh's approach when it works. Nothing better to me than running the ball down your opponent's throat Bo-style because you can and they can't stop you. But if you can't do that against say, OSU, if you're a good coach you better come up with a better plan. We already had a Johnny-one-note coach and he got broomed in large part because he couldn't adapt to reality (and ignored the D).
January 7th, 2019 at 11:49 PM ^
Held accountable for what?
January 8th, 2019 at 12:22 AM ^
Not firing overpaid underperforming offensive staff.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:49 PM ^
Well, bye.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:49 PM ^
So what exactly are we trying to get Warde to do?
January 7th, 2019 at 11:53 PM ^
Doing anything would be a start for him
January 7th, 2019 at 11:54 PM ^
What do you want him to do that he isn’t doing?
January 8th, 2019 at 12:25 AM ^
He hasn't fired Pep Hamilton, the highest paid offensive assistant coach in America.
[Insert puke emoji]
January 7th, 2019 at 11:54 PM ^
Fire Harbaugh? I don’t get it.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:54 PM ^
Or make Harbaugh get legitimate assistants on offense
January 7th, 2019 at 11:56 PM ^
Ding ding. And keep assistants from going to our rival.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:00 AM ^
If warde is getting involved in assistant hires we should just go ahead and fire harbaugh. That’s some stupid shit
January 8th, 2019 at 12:06 AM ^
Of course not, Warde needs to get involved with film study and game planning...
January 8th, 2019 at 12:29 AM ^
In his annual appraisal it should be brought up that his top paid OC performed like garbage. That is totally within the realm for your boss to bring up.
January 8th, 2019 at 2:40 AM ^
How is Warde his boss if Harbaugh makes more money?
January 8th, 2019 at 12:07 AM ^
So you want Warde to act like Dave Brandon?
January 8th, 2019 at 12:21 AM ^
Sounds reasonable to me. We already have a committee of at least three guys drawing up the offensive gameplan every week; there's room for Warde to elbow his way in and make it four.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:59 AM ^
At least he gave us that giant macaroni
January 8th, 2019 at 12:17 AM ^
Because the last time one of our head coaches was force fed an OC worked out well?
January 7th, 2019 at 11:55 PM ^
I guess he wants Warde to pressure Harbaugh in hiring a new offensive staff.
Something tells me that won't go over really well considering that the 49ers tried to do the same thing when Harbaugh wouldn't budge on Greg Roman.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:58 PM ^
If the AD doesn’t have faith in what Harbaugh is doing with his staff then that AD should fire Harbaugh. The AD shouldn’t be dictating who his staff is. Unless we want Dave Brandon back running the AD and the football program.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:31 AM ^
But the AD can certainly point out that the offensive staff isnt performing to expectations in his annual appraisal.
Harbaugh needs to hear that message.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:56 AM ^
and you know everything that is said behind closed doors how?
January 8th, 2019 at 1:35 AM ^
Mineral King has his ear....don’t sweat it.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:55 PM ^
Put M hockey on tv.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:53 PM ^
Now you tell me!
January 7th, 2019 at 11:53 PM ^
Given the control that Harbaugh has over the program, and with an AD that bows to him in reverence...I doubt it.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:57 PM ^
Bama lost by 28, their whole season must have been a sham!!!!
January 7th, 2019 at 11:59 PM ^
At least they still beat their main rival and won their conference . You know when the last time we’ve done that in the same season ? 15 seasons ago .
January 8th, 2019 at 1:17 AM ^
Can we trade playing OSU every year for playing auburn every year? I'd take that in a heartbeat
January 8th, 2019 at 12:15 AM ^
It was a mirage.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:57 PM ^
Yeah, too bad those naive Clemson fans didn't hold Dabo accountable when he was 2-5 against rivals and lost to his main rival by 29 as the #3 ranked home favorite.
If they would've only got rid of that kook, we could've been witnessing the glorious 4th Championship in a row for Satan.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:58 PM ^
You're forgetting when he gave up 70 to West Virginia.
January 8th, 2019 at 9:56 AM ^
I think that was the game that changed Dabo & Clemson into the team we see now. After that season the hired Venebles and shortly after Chad Morris departed.
Looking back it would appear that game made Dabo & AD realize that they needed to make staff and philosophical changes to compete at a higher level.
Clemson after that humiliation became a different team. That is my concern with JH & Co. There is no systemic/organizational change after humiliation, only try better/work harder.
January 8th, 2019 at 10:45 AM ^
Well, this is definitely a bad two year period for Harbaugh. 8-5 last year, and somehow, this year feels worse than last year, even with the better record.
2019 IS THE YEAR. And I don't mean win the B1G or beat OSU or anything specifically results oriented. I mean, will Harbaugh change his offensive philosophy? Will Don Brown continue to be overly aggressive even when his safeties can't cover?
Because if Harbaugh can't change after two beatdowns, we know he will never really change, NEVER win a championship, and should go.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:03 AM ^
Do not mess with their emotions with these rational facts. Their constant whining can only be assuaged with Pep hanging in effigy.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:03 AM ^
*Double*
January 8th, 2019 at 12:13 AM ^
*Trouble*
January 8th, 2019 at 12:15 AM ^
Nothing better than the double nervous bird.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:18 AM ^
If you're not bitching you're not trying
#MGoBlog'd
January 8th, 2019 at 12:19 AM ^
At that moment in time Dabo was a nobody trying to rebuild a program.
Harbaugh came to Michigan with actual expectations given his resume (which was better than Dabo's).
So yeah fuck me for wanting to beat OSU once and a potential BIG title chance by year 4 instead of getting our shit pushed in every November against OSU and mediocre bowl opponents.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:51 AM ^
And what did Dabo do after his first three years? Make sure his OC landed a cushy job, and if not, take him back for another year? (I.e., let his preference for "soft landings" dictate his staff?) No, Dabo went and hired an innovative coach for the college game (not an NFL guy), who brought in an uptempo spread.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:57 PM ^
Let us bring water into the stadium damn it
January 8th, 2019 at 12:04 AM ^
Man, I am 100% in agreement with you. It's goddamed ridiculous.
January 8th, 2019 at 12:21 AM ^
Brie and Chablis should be sold in the stadium.
Clearly the official drink/snack of my section, sadly.

Old people! Stop asking young people in front of you to sit at any point during the game. Your arthritis can kiss our young taut asses!
