OT: So.. We deleting the pot threads?
Not sure if this is gonna stay up, but it's a pretty major development. Congrats to the Michigan folk on this board. Looks like you're gonna be able to smoke weed recreationally soon...
If this is treading too close to politics, feel free to delete. But it's not often you get to see the repeal of a decades long prohibition. Guess you won't have to head over to Windsor to try marijuana for your first time...

What argument about what anecdote?
I think you are trying too hard to pick a fight with me.
November 7th, 2018 at 7:18 PM ^
I wouldn't mess with EGD. He's liable to shove a scope down your throat.
November 7th, 2018 at 9:18 AM ^
This. Exactly. To get the same desired effect from alcohol is many times more destructive to your body than weed.
November 7th, 2018 at 6:29 AM ^
Obtain the money? You make it sound like having money to purchase goods and services is something specific to buying weed. Also, really easy to find dealers. And yes, easier to call someone yourself than have to find a friend to do it for you. When I used to smoke it was almost never hard to get. There was literally like once or twice where it took a few extra calls, and I wasn't even in an urban area. If you had a car, it would be rare to not be able to get some within the hour. Delivery is often available. It's easy to transport and stores for a long time. I don't know if this is going to actually make it harder for kids to do it, but it sure isn't going to make it easier.
November 7th, 2018 at 6:46 AM ^
Well, I don't know about you but when I was 12-16 years old I wasn't making any money because I played sports year round, now I don't know what the price of weed is but I find it hard to believe that it is super cheap. This is in reference to the concerns about children not young adults and older.
November 7th, 2018 at 9:50 AM ^
Something tells me you come from a strict family based around religion, you know... by that cross in your avatar.
Don't worry, bucko. This isn't the end of the world and nothing is going to change much if kids are seeking it out. Finding someone growing up was incredibly easy - everyone knows a guy that's got some, it's not expensive.
You just come across incredibly inexperience with the entire subject.
November 7th, 2018 at 11:06 AM ^
Actually my parents were not strict at all, but very religious, loving and caring. I am more strict about myself than my parents ever were. And I am not worried much, more disappointed, hard to be worried when I know that no matter what happens on earth it isn't my final destination.
November 7th, 2018 at 4:19 PM ^
Literally it costs like $10 and every single high school in the country has a dealer. Yes, your high school did too.
Right now, if you want it you can get it. Same as alcohol, same as it will be when it's legal
November 7th, 2018 at 10:13 AM ^
All I will say is that I found it easier to get weed in high school than alcohol...people already breaking the law dont card.
November 7th, 2018 at 5:54 AM ^
I don't know if I'll ever try it, but I see it as a fairly harmless substance that we spend a stupid amount of time and money trying to prosecute and incarcerate people for. For those reasons alone, I'm in favor of just letting people smoke weed. We've got better things to worry about in this country
November 7th, 2018 at 7:08 AM ^
But OTOH, this is a win for personal liberty and freedom. I'm pretty grossed out by weed and hope my kids never smoke it, and in general I never want to be around it. But then again I say the same thing about sushi, and I wouldn't want to outlaw that.
November 7th, 2018 at 7:53 AM ^
I always have encouraged my daughter to smoke weed over drinking alcohol.
No one has ever smoked a joint and woken up two towns over, with a sore ass, no pants, and one shoe on. Fifth of vodka? Entirely possible.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:05 AM ^
Hell I call that Tuesday.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:43 AM ^
WOW!!! Can't imagine what your Fridays and Saturdays are like.
How about a blog - MJGOBLOG! Has a certain ring to it.
November 7th, 2018 at 9:03 AM ^
Exactly. Way less dangerous than alcohol. The people who want it are going to get it anyway, so might as well tax them for it to help our roads/schools.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:44 AM ^
Life without sushi would be pointless.
November 7th, 2018 at 6:00 AM ^
I don’t smoke or drink, but weed should be legal. My only issue with it is that it reaks.

Reefer madness... Alcohol was illegal btw, check the Constitution. And, technically, weed still is illegal irrespective of the passage of last night's proposal.

Congrats state of Michigan. Look into making yourself a strong ganja oil. Do an oil infusion of the plant into coconut oil. You can then use it for massages or sore muscles.
November 7th, 2018 at 7:16 AM ^
Does this mean McGary can come back?
November 7th, 2018 at 9:00 AM ^
Obviously this is a sarcastic question, but it raises a very good point. I am sure that smoking will still be against "team rules" or even NCAA rules. But hopefully we're very close to the point where suspensions will be minimal for the offense. McGary was suspended for a year. A whole year! Absurd.

Let the potheads get stoned while I continue snapping necks and cashing checks. I just hope I don't have to fund them all on Welfare and Medicaid.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:23 AM ^
But who's covering the healthcare for all those snapped necks? Are you only snapping necks of those with employer health insurance?
November 7th, 2018 at 8:38 AM ^
It's cool, taxes from all the weed sales will cover that and more.
PS, some of the most successful people I know smoke the pots.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:02 AM ^
Some of the most successful people I know cheat on their husbands.
Dont confuse correlation with causation.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:40 AM ^
Prices to pay: fixed pot holes, better schools, more freedom, less alcohol abuse, increased tax revenue.
November 10th, 2018 at 7:00 AM ^
I think they are referring to the law of unintended consequences. Not too hard to imagine kids getting a hold of baked goods, knowingly or unknowingly, and ingesting too much. There will be bad with the good and time will sort it all out. IMHO, I think the latter will outweigh the former.
November 7th, 2018 at 7:32 AM ^
I am disappointed. I had a friend who was killed by a driver who was high on weed. I am guessing we will see a lot more marijuana driving related deaths. Bums me out today.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:14 AM ^
I had a friend who was killed by someone high on texting even though there is a law against it.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:42 AM ^
This is incredibly anecdotal and short-sighted. Texting and alcohol related accidents are much more prevalent. Hell, old people probably cause more fatal motor accidents than weed.
November 7th, 2018 at 9:43 AM ^
I'm sorry to hear about your friend, that really sucks. But, your take is anecdotal, and not objectively accurate.
November 7th, 2018 at 7:55 AM ^
This is a great day for freedom. I rarely smoke weed, but it absolutely should be legal in a world where booze and cigarettes are available at every gas station.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:16 AM ^
LOL the combination of Boner's statement above you and your statement is hilarious to me. I have a twisted sense of humor, I'll admit it.
It sounds like you are actually suggesting alcohol and cigarettes should be illegal.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:30 AM ^
Of course not. I think most drugs should be legal.
My body, my choice.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:20 AM ^
Not a big fan of pot, plus I can’t touch it since I’m a federal employee but I did have a couple friends back in high school who, at the time, I thought turned into burn out losers because they started smoking pot. But now I realize they were probably destined to be losers either way. Times are changing...
November 7th, 2018 at 9:24 AM ^
People who are destined to be losers also just happen to be people that are susceptible to drug abuse issues. Plenty of non-losers do just as many if not more drugs. Hell, most of the harder drugs don't compare to the negative affects that alcohol has and alcohol is celebrated around the world by people from all walks of life.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:22 AM ^
I’ve never seen a tough guy smoke pot
November 7th, 2018 at 8:24 AM ^
Not sure of your definition for tough guy, but pretty sure a ton of NFL players smoke
November 7th, 2018 at 8:31 AM ^
And probably half of our own team.
November 7th, 2018 at 9:33 AM ^
All that means is they’re a physical freak
November 7th, 2018 at 9:24 AM ^
Way more people smoke pot than you probably realize.
November 7th, 2018 at 9:43 AM ^
Nah man, I get it. I’m a recent college graduate. Some of my best friends are habitual users, because you “can’t” get addicted to it. There’s a certain personality type that attracts to it. It’s just annoying that I’m part of the softest generation in history. I have to live the rest of my life with these clowns
November 8th, 2018 at 8:01 AM ^
I feel the same about having to share internet space with folks like you.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:41 AM ^
There's no hope with dope.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:50 AM ^
....but yes to vodka, eh comrade?

For the record, Vladimir Vladimirovich is a teetotaler.
November 7th, 2018 at 8:51 AM ^
I live in Colorado. I have not seen any negative impact since it has been legal. Once in the last 3 years I could smell it from some neighbors down the street. I figure that is not much different than a neighbor being loud because they are drunk. Tax income from this and less government is good IMO.
