UM-Nebraska Massacre Recap - Corn Nation
Posting this to share with others. Unlike the pathetic opinions and horrible writing/spelling on the Red Cedar Message Board, this quarter by quarter recap of the game from a Cornuskers fan and writer is actually very well written, entertaining and hilarious. Which I wouldn't have expected from "Corn Nation" - sounds like something out of the movie Deliverance...
Hope you enjoy as much as I did:

if you want some real fun, compare and contrast with the article they wrote before the game entitled, '5 reasons nebraska will win'.

ONE: The Big House Is Just That...It’s Big (and not very loud)
That hasn't really been true since the suites were put it.
TWO: Adrian Martinez Should Be Ready to Go and Michigan Hasn’t Seen a Quarterback Like Him
Um, Michigan played Wimbush and we face some of the best dual threat QBs regularly
THREE: The Nebraska Front Seven Is Dominant
Lol
FOUR: Nebraska Is Having Success Running The Ball
30 for 39 yards
FIVE: Nebraska Is 0-2 Because Of A Storm And Self-inflicted Mistakes
And those mistakes kept happening.

Why do people still insist our stadium is not loud the fans were rocking up until we took a 5 td! When games are close the stadium is louder than any other. But when we’re up big why the fuck would we be loud? I’ve seen games at every major school where u could hear a pin drop. LSU is supposed to be one of the loudest but last night against la tech it was a library.

Edit: nvm

Entertaining, loved the tomato gif - was actually kind of scary and great line about not to touch their qbs as they have no spare parts.
September 23rd, 2018 at 9:37 PM ^
I LOL'd at the spare parts line - best of the lot.

I believe the Deliverance-themed blog is called "Corn Hole Nation" but I could be wrong.

Ah. Yes. We've been through this ourselves. RichRod's first season was, well...um...rough on the ol' liver. Of course, we never had our "redemption" with RichRod; conversely, I DO think that Scott Frost will have success there and turn that program into something quite good, over time.
Of note, the next time we play Nebraska won't be until 2021, in Lincoln -- and then we have them on our schedule four years in a row after that.
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:17 PM ^
That year was rough. But starting out 0-3 looks as if it might promise an even rougher season than RR's first.
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:52 PM ^
You're right. IIRC, weren't we actually at 2-2 after four games before we completely shat the bed for the rest of the year?
September 23rd, 2018 at 1:36 PM ^
Yes. We lost a close game to Utah (which went on to go 12-0!), beat Miami (OH), lost a turnover-plagued game to ND, and then had the huge comeback to beat Wisconsin.
There really was no indication at that point that we would nosedive to 3-9. Making a bowl seemed possible. Then the bottom fell out.

Of B1G blogs, Corn Nation along with Go Iowa Awesome and Eleven Warriors are all very good reads in general for CFB fans.

Drinking warm beer while watching this game. Seems appropriate.
I can only imagine how Nebraska fans watching at home were feeling by the time it was 37-0
September 23rd, 2018 at 11:49 AM ^
Pretty sure most of them went out to mow the lawn or pull weeds or something else more fun.
September 23rd, 2018 at 11:51 AM ^
Maybe a feeling of karma? For years and years and years, Nebraska joyously ran up the score on every opponent they could. It happened a lot. I'm sure they enjoyed those games. Now they know what the other side feels like.
Although we technically didn't run the score up. McCaffery would have come in much sooner if Peoples-Jones hadn't returned that punt to the house.
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:05 PM ^
Probably the same feeling I had watching Michigan lose to Mississippi State 52-14 in the 2011 Gator Bowl.
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:20 PM ^
Probably not, because a lot of people knew (or at least hoped) that that was RichRod's final game as Michigan head coach.
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:38 PM ^
Okay, how about like Michigan losing to Ohio State 42-7 in 2008?
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:45 PM ^
I have no recollection of such a defeat. Combination of age, selective memory and intentionally deleting my "hard drive" to make room for Ben Mason four yard bursts through the other team's whole defense...
September 23rd, 2018 at 1:23 PM ^
Sounds like you're on the same medication as Urban.
September 23rd, 2018 at 2:35 PM ^
What happened? After the 2008 Capital One Bowl, the next thing I remember is Jim Harbaugh being named head coach. Did I miss something?
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:18 PM ^
Gonna be a very long year in Lincoln, Nebraska, that’s for sure.
September 23rd, 2018 at 11:45 AM ^
Anybody else hear Scotty Frost say that he “honestly believes this is rock bottom?”
Man, for Nebraska’s sake I sure hope he is right. Rewatching this last game is just so satisfying.
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:59 PM ^
After the Wendy's troll job - I think "Scott Frosty" is the name you were looking for. I can't believe they did that - but I love them for it!
September 23rd, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
This is epic. Hard to imagine Nebraska fans boycotting Wendy's, I mean their use of corn fed beef and all. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I have a feeling Twitter guy is gonna he getting a call from corporate HQ on Monday morning. It was worth it, Twitter guy (or gal).
September 23rd, 2018 at 1:46 PM ^
Hopefully to get a promotion or at least a spot bonus! That guy/gal is awesome.
September 23rd, 2018 at 2:16 PM ^
Have him call me - I will make him Chief Marketing Officer at our company.
September 23rd, 2018 at 1:01 PM ^
I mean I presume it has to be. They are basically Rutgers and you literally can't be worse than Rutgers
September 23rd, 2018 at 11:48 AM ^
I might have chuckled once. But only once. And even that was muted
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:10 PM ^
Thanks for the link. That is hilarious! We know EXACTLY how this guy feels... been there!
That said, over the last many years, I have lost any feelings of mercy. Michigan should just go out and keep playing their game, regardless of the score.
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:25 PM ^
One might say, win with character and cruelty.
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:44 PM ^
*girl
September 23rd, 2018 at 2:28 PM ^
Yep. And she uses humor well to take the sting out of her team's awfulness.
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:26 PM ^
The fans' meltdown comments are sort of fun too. Though they remind me of ours from a few years ago.
September 23rd, 2018 at 2:30 PM ^
They remind me of this place after the Notre Dame game!
September 23rd, 2018 at 12:59 PM ^
Has a coach ever gone undefeated in one season and winless the next? Maybe they can at least outhit some of their opponents in a few of these upcoming losses.
September 23rd, 2018 at 1:25 PM ^
The comments read like MGoBlog in year 1 of Rich Rod. I feel their pain. Our cupboard was bare but we still had some decent talent for RR. Frost has 38 true freshmen and 12 transfers out of 85. That is rough. Still, they were a much better test than WMU or SMU. Their mobile QB was nearly fully operational and we planted him in the ground like a tree several times.
September 23rd, 2018 at 1:41 PM ^
They do have some talent (or should). These are their recent recruiting rankings per 247:
2015 - 30
2016 - 26
2017 - 23
2018 - 23
September 23rd, 2018 at 1:40 PM ^
The best thing about this? The fact it’s not us.
September 23rd, 2018 at 1:53 PM ^
Thanks for posting. Nebraska gets killed again and the girl saying stop gif may come in handy again
September 23rd, 2018 at 1:53 PM ^
That was entertaining.
Nebraska looks like a 5 win team this season.
September 23rd, 2018 at 2:08 PM ^
It's uncanny how the fan comments are the same from one bad team to the next. The previous coach always ran a "country club" and left the "cupboard bare," while the new strength and conditioning coach (who may or may not wrestle wild animals) is instilling a "new attitude." You can't see evidence of this attitude yet, but that's because "half the team never lifted a dumbbell before this year" so the team is at a physical disadvantage. Though fans need to keep the faith, "staff changes need to be forthcoming" or else [head coach] is "too stubborn for his own good."
September 23rd, 2018 at 3:44 PM ^
TING!!
Fans looks for scapegoats when they are losing. Nobody ever just loses because they are not as good as the other team.
September 23rd, 2018 at 2:47 PM ^
Simple explanation for Nebraska.
Frost told them to Out-hit us, but they thought he said Out-shit us.
September 23rd, 2018 at 7:57 PM ^
I was reading this while waiting in line for a new phone outside my local Apple store and kept laughing. People must have thought I was nuts.
Back when Nebraska was in the same conference as Mizzou, people here hated them. But, so long as we keep beating them, it's hard to dislike them. (I'm thinking of you, Rutgers.)
