Ohio State WR Coach Zach Smith Arrested for Criminal Trespassing
Ohio State WR coach Zach Smith was arrested for criminal trespassing He is known for being a bad WR coach and talking an outrageous amount of junk on his twitter.
It's not often I take glee in people getting arrested but this clown deserves it.
Maybe #Zone6 will be his cell block.
Maybe not cell block but maybe it'll be on the court notes. Wish I could edit my post. Stupid site.
Gucci did it first.
Well this sucks.
Hopefully OSU doesn't fall backwards into a good WR coach hire because of this.
Why don't you read the story before you go dancing on someone else's misfortune just because they coach for a school you don't like?
I read the article. It didn't change my attitude at all. I still wish the arrest had been related to recruiting.
You answered your own question there friend-o. Because he coaches for a team we don't like!
This is the first I’m hearing of this incident that happened in May. Very interesting
Sounds like some pretty petty divorce nonsense. Poor kids. At least one of the parents is a real piece of work.
A divorce huh? Color me shocked.
I'm shocked, shocked that the marriage didn't work out.
I’m not a fan of Smith, but this seems like a bad situation. This article has more details, and while it’s one sided, it gives some context. Feel bad for the kid. Don’t take any joy in this

Yeah, if he had hopped a fence to swim in a stranger's pool or something that'd be funny.
Getting arrested for going on his ex-wife's property while dropping off their kid, not so much.

FIFY
I believe this is how this equation works:
Member of the OSU football program + the state of Ohio + actual major felonies =
trespassing violation
I hope he gets trolled hard.
This is bad news. We want that clown coaching their wide receivers for as long as possible. Heaven forbid they actually upgrade.
I mean, I’m no fan of Zach Smith, but having fairly recently gone through a divorce, it’s easy to see this being some bullshit. Things escalate and get real petty, real fast.
Not for nothing, but why does his ex wife live in an apartment? Seems like they should be able to both have houses.... just saying.
My guess but having not read anything about this is that she is probably dating someone that has a house
I don't think anyone is a fan of Smith, but this charge screams setup bullshit. If you didn't read the story linked by Space Cowboy, Smith and his ex were texting as to where to hand off the kid. She said the clubhouse of her apartment building. She wasn't there when he arrived, so he took the 13 yr old to her apartment. She was waiting somewhere and snapped a picture of his car in the driveway, and called the cops on him. She never said anything about the shared parenting stuff to the cops or prosecutors office. She set him up in a big way. Fuck her...
Yeah not sure how its trespassing if he didn't go into her apartment and just dropped the kid off and left. Unless he did do something more than is reported in the story, or she has a restraining order against him?
Well, that is his (lawyer's) side of the story. I'm sure there more to it than just that, but I don't doubt that it really is largely just petty divorce stuff.
So Columbus turns pettiness into trespassing while EL turns violence into littering.
Got it.
I love to hate Ohio State as much as anyone, but this is some bullshit. This pettiness is the epitome of what's wrong with the world these days.
I blocked that piece if shit a while ago. He sucks at coaching and life.
What I just read is not criminal trespassing. There may be more but pulling up on the driveway to drop the kid off and having a picture taken of him doing said park-job...is a non-story.
Fuck Ohio St.
lmao, why am I not at all surprised?
Sounds like he ran a skinny post when he was supposed to run a slant. It happens.
As an aside, did anyone else not know he is Earl Bruce’s grandson?
Of all the OSU coaches I'd like to see in trouble and possibly in jeopardy of losing their job, Smith probably ranks dead last.
Well, that woman is a piece of work. I feel bad for the kid with shitty parents. I think parents forget the effect it has on kids. But the coach probably royally screwed her over before and I don't feel ounce of pity for him either. But that woman needs to grow up and think about her kid.
Oh! Fuck OSU.
This is a resume enhancer for Ohio State. If he gets enough felonies, he can transfer to an SEC school... :)
How is it that every OSU scandal turns into an OSU guy actually being the victim?
Conley: Victim
Elliott: Victim
Smith: Victim
Schiano: Victim
Webb: Victim
He broke a restraining order and was cited for it. These things aren't in place without reason. So far we have heard from two people, the police and Smith's lawyer. The police say he was warned not to break the restraining order back in January and did so four months later. His lawyer painted a story that he was only trying to return his kids and that.....he's the real victim here.
The way this story broke was bizarre. A new user on 247 simultaneously posted a thread on bucknuts https://247sports.com/college/ohio-state/Board/120/Contents/ZACH-SMITH-DUE-IN-COURT-TODAY--119899934/
and wolverine247: https://247sports.com/college/michigan/Board/102410/Contents/OT-Possible-intel-on-OSU-WR-coach-Zach-Smith--119899582/
Ohio State media likely knew about this as several posters on bucknuts knew of the incident, however the media sat on it without reporting. Three hours after the posts linked above there was a simultaneous wave of buckeye news reports, as if a shot caller had decided, "ok, the news is out and we can't ignore this."
Anytime this guy is brought up, surprising what nice things people have to say about him. REDDIT
"Played for is a strong term because he was the wide outs coach and I was a true freshmen d-linemen on the scout team the only year he was on staff. But he did run the scout team from time to time so i had my fair share of interactions with him
Things that he would say/do to his own position group
Plenty of Homophobic slurs, racist jokes hidden under the guise that he’s the “cool young coach”, openly bragged/joked about cheating on his pregnant wife to our star players. Went out of his way to alienate underclassmen who may have been underperforming.
For example, he made a true freshmen( who ended up getting drafted at CB) Do up downs in the end zone every indy period of a camp practice one day. Because he looked “soft” in an Oklahoma drill vs a RS sophomore. Allegedly he threw a couple footballs at him too. I didn’t see that though.(and the player wouldn’t admit to it)
I’ve seen him put his hands on two players, nothing more than a shove but he shouldn’t be doing that shit at all. And probably more that I’ve forgotten about.
Edit; i made these comments before i even read the article. Who woulda thunk that him and his wife would get a divorce?"
Imagine if this was Jay Harbaugh.
Sounds a bit ridiculous. However, this will give OSU fans something to bang on their keyboards about. Will be fun to see how quickly they will compare this to what place UM finished in the big ten last year.
An absolutely petty thing his ex-wife did. The court shouldn't be wasting its time on such a case. I wouldn't be surprised if the case is dropped.
So yeah. The guy is a well known douche, but this sounds like some petty divorce stuff to me. Not worth noting, in my opinion.
Water is wet. The sky is blue. Everybody murders. Just another day in Ohio.
Guy was setup... believe it or not, the flagship radio station for OSU ran the story that he was arrested, when he clearly never was. Another station in town had the lawyer call in and explain exactly what happened. He's a tool, no doubt with his trolling, but we want him around and I personally hate to see anyone, especially the kids, go through crap like this for dumb parents.
Still can't believe the station let them to go the air, without having it confirmed... real good look for them to screw their own, just to get a headline.
In the words of Red Berenson, piss on him.

Well my take on this story has obviously changed. Ooffff
