Peak offseason
DID YOU GET THE CUBAN?
Corned Beef!!
So I know they are known for the traditional Reuben...but damn it the TNT Cowboy Reuben is fantastic!
I want to come back. Like tonight!!
FUCK YOU THEN
GOT THE CUBAN AND A DETOX ISLAND GREEN AT TROPICAL SMOOTHIE CAFE.
Did you get a loan?
Yeah, I clicked. But terrible title (Justin Feagin!) compounded by food hawt take, no substance drivel. Go away, offseason.
I need these David Harris days to move faster. I love summer weather, but am so ready for our favorite sport to make its triumphant return. I have high expectations for this season, even with the tough schedule. Good teams find ways to win difficult road games. We're going to see what this team and coaching staff are really made of this season. No excuses anymore. Year four and we have the talent to win. Fucking do it.
Zingermans and MnB deli are the truth but I also want to throw in a shout out to Gabriel's cheese steaks in Ypsi which I visited for lunch on Monday.
Gabriel's is The Truth.
I've spent a lot of time in Ypsi but never been to Gabriel's! I'll be sure to try it soon.
Also, I love both Zingerman's and MnB so, so much.
#Maize&bluedeli. Let’s start a controversy.
Maize and blue. Huge amazing sandwiches, always thought it was a front, never was busy.
Maize 'n' Blue all day erry day.
Both are good for different reasons:
Zingerman's: Unquestionably overall better quality sandwich and higher quality deli overall.
Maize & Blue: Significantly more affordable and more bang for your buck.
We used to say that Zingerman's was twice as good for four times the price.
I honestly wondered if they were going out of business when I saw the title.
Sorry my title sucked.. i was just excited!
No worries. We've all been there.
LOL. I thought they were expanding when I saw the title.
Moved out of Ann Arbor (for a second time) about a month ago and did Zingerman's lunch, Buddy's dinner on the last day. It was a delicious but sad day.
Very good of course but kinda pricey for what is still a sandwich. Don't @ me
Get what you pay for!!
....maybe, but Ari and Paul are making a TON of money thanks to their loyal fanbase.

Can I @ you if I agree with you? Was just there yesterday with my daughter. 2 sandwiches, size small, no drinks. $32!! Ok sandwich, nothing spectacular. Did I mention $32?
You say it is pricey, but that is an opinion more than fact. Is Zingermans more expensive than some of the better delis in NY? Nope, it isn't.
Here's the menu for Katz Deli in NY. https://www.katzsdelicatessen.com/menu_and_local-delivery
ll take Zingermans over Katz for one reason and it is not something minor when talking about sandwiches. Zingermans makes better rye bread, according to Saveur Magazine, the best rye bread in the US, and you can't have a good sandwich without good bread. The meats Zingermans uses are top of the line. There is a reason Zingermans is always full and it's because of the quality of its products and the customer service. On top of that, the company takes very good care of its employees.
I get that many students and others are not in a position to afford Zingermans, but it is a world class deli and I'm delighted it is located in Ann Arbor.
Oh I don't live in NY and don't know NY prices. Was comparing it to other delis that I know in Michigan. Glad it's cheap to you!
Zingerman's cost of doing business makes their sandwiches cost what they do. I believe they have pretty good benefits and that isn't cheap.
I didn't say it was "cheap" to me. I suggested that Zingermans, compared to other equivalent delis of the same quality was fairly and equivalently priced.
Are there any other delis in Michigan that offer a similar product in terms of quality?
2 summers ago I traveled from Up North to Detroit Metro Airport with my 2 labradors to pick up 2 of my daughters-- unfortunately they were flying from 2 different areas of the country and their flights arrived 4 hours apart. I decided a trip to Zingerman's was in order. It was a hot day and they were as attentive to the dogs as they were to us. And of course, everything was delicious.
Did you have 2 sandwiches?
Didn't want 2 overdo it.
**Would have upvoted that comment but I can't vote and my points are frozen. #mgoblogserverupgradeproblems
it's probably because of something you did
*something about bracing for impact*
Really thought this was going to be an on-topic post due to the lack of an "OT" in the title. Boy was I mistaken.

Hot take:. Zingermans is overpriced for what it is and their sandwiches are, at best, fine.
"Fine" lol
I guess "meh" works as well. I won't say they are "bad", but they are just these big slices of bread with not a whole lot going on inside.
Yeah, it's kinda pathetic how small the sandwiches at Zingerman's nowadays. I don't have a problem paying $18 for a quality sandwich with good ingredients every once in a while, but a pastrami or corned beef should have more than like 6oz of meat on it.
I bet they'd give you at least 8 oz of meat in Venezuela. And maybe a little happy ending, too.
There are no Delis in Venezuela.......the few Jews there left long ago once Chavez and the Socialists came in.
Last time I ate at Zingerman's was about 20 years ago. The sandwiches were pricey relative to other delis but I remember the corned beef (or whatever meat) stack was thick as hell. I busted my gut trying to finish the whole thing and I had a good appetite back then. Guess things have changed.
Agreed. I made it back to Ann Arbor last summer for the first time in 7 or 8 years. Didn’t love zingermans nearly as much as I used to. I don’t think anything about the quality has changed, I just think the general food scene has caught up.
Not gonna always thought Zingermann's was overrated. More of a Maize and Blue Deli guy.
