MGoPraise: Who is/are your favorite current poster(s)?

Submitted by profitgoblue on

Okay, so I missed out on Nosce Te Ipsum's "Posters of Yore" thread (http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/posters-yore#comment-1877663) about the most missed old-timers over the weekend and I'm feeling a little bummed out about it.  So I decided that it might be fun to have an MGoFeelGood moment and throw some praise around:  Who is/are your favorite current poster(s) and for what reason(s)?

I'll refrain from revealing my list because of my high-ranking position as moderator - wouldn't want to feel guilty for sending one of them to Bolivia for disagreeing with one of my opinions.  Plus, I like to keep my favoritism on the down-low.  But, since I didn't get to participate in Nosce's thread on Saturday, I will just say that I miss FormerlyAnonymous and Geaux Blue, two of my favorites and my MGoMentors.

(P.S.  Whoever lists me as their favorite will get special treatment and maybe even extra MGoPoints in return.  Kidding, of course.  But not really.)

Magnus for his in-depth knowledge and forthright style.

MGoBlueInNYC (f/k/a MGoBlueInTX) for his general sense of humor (see http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ot-jls-now-407-million-debt  - he blistered my post somethin' gooooooood).

ErikInDayton for being mostly level-headed.

Chunkums - no explanation needed.

Chunks the Hobo - ibid.

Herm - ibid.

WolverineHistorian - Although he seems to be getting a bit crankier over time.

Don - Always read his comments, don't always agree.

Many others... .

I don't exactly have a favorite. It is the melange of posts, mostly related to Michigan, that make this site the best blog ever. So, I like classes of posters

  • Proprietors (Brian, Seth, Ace, Heiko.)
  • Recruiting specialists (Magnus, Tremendous, Tom VH. Miss him lots.)
  • Coaches. Magnus, transcripts of Mattison & Borges. Wish there was more of this.
  • Insiders/Connected people. I'm tantalized when I hear from the brother of a walk-on, or the parent of a recruit, or someone who is on the sideline.
  • Moderators. BiSB, I miss your snark. Profitgoblue.
  • N00bs. They can be cute.
  • Storytellers. CRex is great, especially having spent 6 mo. in Korea myself.
  • Regular users . . . Justin, MGrowOld, Blazefire, et. al.

I dislike:

  • Whiners.
  • People who won't give up a stupid argument.
  • Vindictive, mean-spirited posters.
  • People who rag on coaches incessantly. (And I don't care if the coach is Borges, or RR, or Beilein.)

The only woman with a sloppier body than me is Kate Upton.  However, I am also 10 pounds away from being fat.

This blog should worship me?

DIABEETUS: The demonically possessed Wilford Brimley avatar and name combine to form such a fully realized and truly odd vision of...something...that I admire it every time I see it.

I like all of the posters who give us detailed analysis. I know they're going to get a lot of votes, so I'm going to say Raoul. His posts are always informative and typically address topics not covered so well by others here. I also look forward to DGDestroys posts on recruiting.

Me, mainly, because I find myself superlatively agreeable. Although that Blue Badger character earns doppelgänger points as well. I once made art, & I intend to do so again. Then I shall admire myself even further.

Tae Odoms is probably my favorite, though he isn't around much. Nice to have a guy who wore the wings with pride and is doing great work after graduation amongst us. Of the "regulars", I enjoy Heiko's humor and my opinions tend to align most with "thelasthoke".

Guys I always enjoy reading;

Wolverine Historian, BiSB, Aquaman, SixZero, FA, Blazefire.

However, I think the best original content has consistently been from MgoShoe.

Also love the Mathlete, if only for the challenge to see if I can come close to understanding his posts.

EDIT. can't forget monuMental, best wallpaper/schedule work ever.

Seth and Lsa are great. Rdt is a great big phony. Brownbear and rager have their moments and Magnus is a real ninja. Also TVH and aquaman are sellouts.

Magnus - his posts are alway informative and well thought out.  I like to think that my posts are just like his, only without the facts and useful insight.

I'm excluding the mods because they're like....mods.  They're supposed to be good posters and stuff.

I would probably have more recommendations if I wasn't so lazy, as many of the posts I read on this site are quite entertaining (especially the gifs).  My problem is that I read the posts but rarely read the posters' names.  I'm also the same lazy ass who has been visiting this site regularly for the past year and a half and never got around to creating an account to post with until last weekend.

Other than those already mentioned...

I would like to "shout out" those posters who happen to root for other teams and come to this blog. Most of you add an outside perspective that can be refreshing.

Gotta be justingoblue for me.  Herm is also amusing sometimes.

We should start a least favorite thread so I can have an excuse to rage.

ClearEyesFullHart and his basketball opponent previews.

Son of Lloyd Brady usually cracks me up.

Magnus, because I love to see him get negged just for giving his honest opinion on a recruit.

Aquaman, who I feel we sadly won't be seeing anymore.

LSAClassof2000 for his charts and graphs.

To name a few.

Fine, don't name me. I don't care. You guys are all losers anyways. I'm taking my valuable insight and hilarious jokes elsewhere. MLive, maybe. They'll appreciate me. I'm the best in the world! Me!

Or, I might start replying to every thread with valuable insight followed by a hilarious joke. And write diaries. I don't know about what yet. And then you'll all place a bejeweled crown on my head as King of MGoBoard and I shall hire RDT as my jester and make him dance for my amusement.

Yes, what a glorious age would that be.

BiSB has been the source of many laughs for me, so he tops my list.  I like the analysis that Magnus gives; always worth the read.

I like the work that all of the Moderators do to keep this place going.  Shout out to Justin: Really like what you've done since becoming a Mod.  Keep it up.

Profit: You're just a rockstar.

I don't spend enough time on the board to really get a feel, but a few jump out:

Mathlete - interesting math.

Magnus - no sunshine up the wazoo, especially about our own players/recruits, which I appreciate.

BiSB - great sarcasm.

THE_KNOWLEDGE:  because I wanted it to be for real.

The Ghost of Yost:  occasionally rational vegetarian.

Woverine Historian:  the vids.

EDIT:  uh... profitgoblue...yeah.  Because of his profity...ness.
