Aaron Lynch to Transfer
Going back to Florida it sounds like to be with girlfirned from the sound of it.

Edit: I want to step back from what I posted in the comments. No hard source that is girlfriend (apparently still not his fiance) is pregnant. I do not want that reported as fact, but I know that she is his high school sweetheart and was homesick.

That guy is a stud. He really looked impressive during the second half of the season. I definitely won't miss him this fall.

Aaron: Best of luck. May you find success and happiness wherever you end up.
Notre Dame: BBBBBWAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
April 13th, 2012 at 10:25 AM ^
According to Scout, Notre Dame has already lost two of their 5 stars from the past 2 recruiting cycles, 3 if you count Deontay Greenberry...
EDIT: 4 if you count Darby, as well.
Good thing they recruit so well.
April 13th, 2012 at 11:35 AM ^
They recruit well, but no one sticks around.
April 13th, 2012 at 11:39 AM ^
Anyone can take a reservation 5 star recruit, but can you HOLD the reservation 5 star recruit?
April 13th, 2012 at 11:43 AM ^
That's my point
don't forget Tee Shepard

So much awesome. I had a patient who was a big ND fan this morning and I was talking about my concerns of our rebuilding O-line versus the ND front 7.
Lynch may be the best player on that D (esp at the end of last year).
April 13th, 2012 at 10:21 AM ^
He doesn't look that good to me.

Rumored destination seems to be USF from their site on 247.

What hurts ND more isn't the immediate effects of a solid DE in Aaron Lynch leaving, but the perception that is beginning to take hold of the program now that multiple top recruits are leaving in short periods of time. Kelly is going to begin facing a very tough battle on the recruiting fronts, both from his own efforts as well as the negative recruiting that will take place regarding this.

Reminds me of the RR years here. Individually, nothing is too out of the ordinary. Collectively, it seems that anything that can go wrong has gone wrong.

A brief google search reveals plenty of tasty schadenfreude, but this pretty much sums it up.

I think in that instance I would opt to bring the GF to ND instead of leaving a world class education and alumni network to go be with her in Southern Florida.
Either way, tough situation.
April 13th, 2012 at 12:37 PM ^
Let's assume for argument's sake that his gf is pregnant. This ND fan thinks it takes more "balls" to stay with the football program where he'll be coddled as a star athlete than to take responsibility for his future child and transfer to be closer to his girlfriend. Obviously they don't teach perspective to ND fans.

In his press conference Kelly just said he won't give him an unconditional release either. Considering he wants to go to somewhere in Florida this may not be as much of an issue, but still, a coach that tries to dictate where a player can and can't go? How many times have we seen this before, and how many times has this ended well for the coach??
April 13th, 2012 at 10:37 AM ^
.. but Kelly said he also will not hold him back. Seems like Kelly knows where he is going and is just covering his tracks.
April 13th, 2012 at 10:38 AM ^
I, for one, am shocked that Kelly is taking this personally and vindictively attempting to stunt the kid's future career prospects.
April 13th, 2012 at 10:40 AM ^
That is not what Kelly said. Read his whole statement on that.
April 13th, 2012 at 10:45 AM ^
He said he 'won't hold him back'. It likely won't be an issue since he wants to go to USF, but if told Kelly he wanted to transfer to USC, Michigan, or hell...I don't know... Navy, I'm willing to bet that Kelly's definition of 'not holding him back' would change just a bit.

It's pretty disgusting how bad some of the comments are over there are as far as turning on the kid. Couldn't of happened to a better bunch of delusional assholes.
April 13th, 2012 at 11:20 AM ^
It would really be hilarious if the kid had second thoughts, then was forwarded the link above, and decided no way would he ever play for fans like that again.
April 13th, 2012 at 11:28 AM ^
I'm sure he's already well versed in the behavior of your average Irish fan.
April 13th, 2012 at 11:45 AM ^
Not too much @MGoBlog but for sure on twitter and elsewhere.
April 13th, 2012 at 11:27 AM ^
but there are only 6 or 7 comments per page! That would be awful having to click to another page anytime the thread went 8 comments long.
Holy cow. Posters on that website are way over the line, mocking the kid's appearance and posting a video clip in which a white pro wrestler kicks a monkey out of the ring.
What would Jesus think?
The "monkey wrestling" video is a signature, not a post. Chill.
Some assholes there, but lots of "good luck to him wherever he goes" posts as well.
Nothing to see here.
April 13th, 2012 at 10:42 AM ^
what...Damefan1...thinks....about this...new...development...
...for even though his last blog post was on March 30th, this was posted at the end of it:
Somehow, it fits the state of the Irish defensive line now.

April 13th, 2012 at 10:52 AM ^
the kid :).
April 13th, 2012 at 10:56 AM ^
And the best DE prospect that ND has had since Justin Tuck.
They still have some talent, Shembo can rush the passer, Tuitt, guys like Ben Councell and Anthony Rabasa. Lynch however looked like a potential 1st round pick.
April 13th, 2012 at 10:57 AM ^
I don't see what everyone is so surprised about... Lynch is simply following twitter advice from Mark Hollis. Follow your heart, young man!
April 13th, 2012 at 11:11 AM ^
This pleases me greatly.
April 13th, 2012 at 11:36 AM ^
Wow, this is disastrous for their defense, and it certainly won't do Kelly any good with regards to his job security. At the same time, it can only bode well for us come September 22nd.
April 13th, 2012 at 11:43 AM ^
Yeah as others have said he is clearly their second best player on defense. Losing him and Darby will hurt them tremendously these next couple years.
April 13th, 2012 at 11:45 AM ^
This probably won't help Brian Kelly's attitude about releasing him to USF:
April 13th, 2012 at 11:45 AM ^
It's a good thing Leavitt isn't still at USF. Dealing with him and Kelly in one college career would pretty much guarantee battered women's syndrome.
April 13th, 2012 at 11:47 AM ^
Also, doom on you, domers.
The real question, of course, is whether or not Hollis has advised Lynch yet.
April 13th, 2012 at 11:49 AM ^
The thing that surprises me the most about ND is that high ranked recruits still want to go there.
