Not to be a Debbie Downer…

Not to be a Debbie Downer but ChatGPT had Texas beating Washington 38-17 (https://saturdaychat.com/texas/chatgpt-simulation-texas-vs-washington/)

It's not just about the…

It's not just about the transfer portal. Players also opt out to avoid injuries in a "meaningless" bowl game and prep for the NFL draft. Not sure how the NCAA could force Marvin Harrison Jnr, for example, to play in a bowl game.

McNamara had the 1s for his…

McNamara had the 1s for his start against Colorado State and did poorly. He also had the 1s in his short stint in the first half. While the O-line did whiff a couple of times, the interception, for example, was not the O-line's fault. Bottom line, Cade is a good manager and managed the games successfully last year with the dominance of Haskins/Corum and the defense. I can't think of any games McNamara won with exceptional QB play.

Hutchinson would not have…

Hutchinson would not have been as productive this year if Don Brown was the DC. His comments about seeing the field better standing up was quite illuminating.

The Rose bowl typically…

The Rose bowl typically selects the highest CFP ranked non playoff team but are not necessarily bound by that. Presume we will be picked if OSU gets into the playoffs.

Milton was crushed on a play…

Milton was crushed on a play. Replacement injury related.

Good luck to the young man,…

Good luck to the young man, let's win some games!

You'll have to pay NY City…

You'll have to pay NY City taxes and PA state taxes. However, you will not be taxed twice as you'll be able to offset any taxes paid to NY from your PA taxes.

Minnesota is a very…

Minnesota is a very different team at home and could beat us tomorrow. Iowa is going to give us fits, primarily because of their zone defense. The MSU games will be rivalry games so can't bet on those.

I'm going with the Heat…

I'm going with the Heat beating the Lakers. They have so many three point assassins - Robinson, Herro, Dragic and even Crowder/Butler when they are on. The Lakers lack that with their 3-point shooters (Kuzma, ?) streaky. The Heat's zone defense will also nullify the Laker's strengths and the difference will most likely be Anthony Davis making the mid-range shots.

This is going to be the norm…

This is going to be the norm. I had to sign a waiver for my son to begin workouts with his travel baseball team, most baseball tournaments now require it. The bottom line is that athletes have to acknowledge that there is an inherent risk in participating in team sports.

Illinois needs to win to…

Illinois needs to win to stay relevant in the Big 10 after choking away their last game to Maryland. We win this game comfortably if the 3s are dropping, otherwise close game. Still think we win even if it is a close game.

Ohio State has blown out two…

Ohio State has blown out two top 50 Kenpom teams (Villanova and UNC) by 25+ points. Also beat a good Cincinnati team. They are legit.

Wednesday's game will…

Wednesday's game will definitely be a tough one. Illinois was leading Maryland for most of their game and choked it away in the final seconds. Not sure who Maryland has played but Illinois are better than their record.

Uche is the #7 OLB on Mel…

Uche is the #7 OLB on Mel Kiper's draft board so he most likely is not coming back irrespective of eligibility.

Tough to do in Happy Valley…

Tough to do in Happy Valley but this is the game Harbaugh gets the monkey off his back. Michigan wins in convincing fashion 30-17. Go Blue!

Let's take it one game at a…

Let's take it one game at a time. We win this weekend 31-24. Go Blue!

Ross already knows the…

Ross already knows the position. He played WLB last year with Bush at MLB!

The interception was more…

The interception was more critical from a game perspective but the Army coach was talking from a coaching perspective - the fake punt meant he did not prepare his team well for that possibility.

The offense coaches are not…

The offense coaches are not adapting to what the defense gives you. If they brought pressure on 85% of the plays, you have to make them pay by throwing quick slants to the speed-in-space guys especially since they were playing 7-10 yards off your slot receivers. You can't expect your linemen/RBs to be perfect in picking up blitz  protection, design your plays around your weaknesses.

One of the difficulties I…

One of the difficulties I have with the playcalling is the lack of quick throws/slants especially against teams that blitz a lot. Our coaches are stuck on slow-developing passing plays which requires the linemen/RBs to pick up blitzes but bad things often happen when the QB holds onto the ball for too long. An example was Turner being outmaneuvered on a blitz leading to one of Shea's fumbles. I thought "speed-in-space" meant quick throws to slot receivers, etc but we have yet to see many of those.

"Does anyone else feel worse…

"Does anyone else feel worse about the O-line after watching these? It just doesn't look like the O-line is getting much push."

RPOs adds another element which makes it difficult for most of us to figure out as the O-line push is for exclusively running plays.

It is not a violation if…

It is not a violation if Franz has signed financial aid papers - the good news, Franz ist auf dem Weg

Bertram was on the on-deck…

Bertram was on the on-deck circle for the last at bat yesterday so suspect it will be Bertram for at least a few at-bats today.

It's just a placeholder…

It's just a placeholder. Most likely Riley Betram as a left handed bat against Vandys right handed pitcher. This is also on Twitter and will not be the batting order given to the umpires.

There are a couple of…

There are a couple of injured guys who should be in the mix for the starting rotation next year. Ben Dragani, the #3 starter as a freshman in 2018 should be back. Don't sleep on Steven Hajjar who was selected in the 21st round of the 2018 draft.

Illinois also made it so…

Illinois also made it so five Big 10 teams.

The key to beating MSU is…

The key to beating MSU is stopping their transition game. Purdue is being smart by picking up Winston on the inbounds pass forcing them into a half court. They've also doubled down low so let's see how efficient  MSU is at running half court sets.

NCAA's NET rankings also has…

NCAA's NET rankings also has Virginia at #1 with Duke #2 and Michigan #3. Doesn't really matter much as Michigan is still a 1 seed (https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings)

Maybe because they can be…

Maybe because they can be the star in a "dumpster fire". AJ Dillon is starring at Boston College so choosing BC over Michigan was a wise move for him.

I believe MSU did not cover…

I believe MSU did not cover against Utah State, ASU and CMU so this just indicates that Michigan will always be the CFP for Dantanio. It might have taken this long but the Michigan will be very prepared for this Saturday!

Husbands of daughters are…

Husbands of daughters are also in-laws, it was actually his son-in-law.

Of note is that Speight never

Of note is that Speight never showed up in the top 50 for any week while Lewerke is typically in the top 25. Should be a good game this Saturday.

The 3-3-5 scheme that we've

The 3-3-5 scheme that we've used so far for spread-type teams allows the OL to pick their poison in terms of double teams. I would expect that to change when we play teams like MSU and Wisconsin. Mone will play meaningful minutes in a 4-3 scheme and Gary would be more disruptive as a traditional defensive end.

Receiving is not limited to

Receiving is not limited to wide receivers. We also have a lot of receiving talent in the tight end group whom I believe are being underutilized so far.

Had the pleasure of meeting

Had the pleasure of meeting Karan during one of his visits, really humble young man. Looking forward seeing him break tackles and having a breakout year!

The Free Press is reporting

The Free Press is reporting that the attorney for the victim stated that the Title IX investigation found the three students violated MSU student policy so it looks like it will proceed to the student counduct council.

Agree with MichiganMan14 on

Agree with MichiganMan14 on this one - the play blew up because the OSU middle linebacker blew by Cole. If you watch the video slowly, you would observe that at handoff, the MLB is already flowing downhill. Higdon takes a couple of steps following his lead blocker to the right and is tackled by the MLB who blew by Cole. Higdon simply did not have time to react to the blown assignment by Cole.

"It wasn't clear to the officers (Wednesday morning) if there was an assault, or who the aggressor was. Subsequent investigation led to a misdemeanor assault charge against Lewis."

We'll have to wait for the details of the case to come out but it was not a "clear-cut" case to officers who arrived at the scene. Either way, players should avoid situations where there might be an appearance of assault as they have a target sign on them.

Michigan (mid 50% range) : ACT (30-34), Avg GPA: 3.987

MSU (mid 50% range) : ACT (24-28), GPA(3.4-3.9)

The bottomline is that 75% of MSU students would not get into Michigan with the true percentage closer to 90-95%.

Really good pickup.

Really good pickup. A NJ transplant who prepped in Connecticut. I suspect he'll be on scholarship when all is said and done.

Syracuse most likely forced

Syracuse most likely forced his hand as Michigan was waiting to see  the "final" numbers before extending an offer. That is too bad as Ifeatu will be a stud in the future, much better than his 2-star ranking.

I believe Wheatley was making

I believe Wheatley was making less than $500k. Don't blame him for leaving as the chance of moving up diminished with the hiring of Pep.

UMBIG11, would they be able

UMBIG11, would they be able to hold organized football practices during a "study abroad" program?

Interesting as well that

Interesting as well that Clemson won without a rushing game. Alabama's defensive line and linebackers were incredibly fast but the key to the victory IMO was DeShaun Watson getting off his passes quickly.

Thinking back to the Orange Bowl, we failed to adjust to FSU's DL attack - still ran play action when the DL was in Speight's face before he had a chance to turn around.

Just curious as to why Pep

Just curious as to why Pep Hamilton would take the Michigan job. Wouldn't the "Passing Coordinator" position be a step down from an NFL Offensive Coordinator/Associate Head Coach? Could we also afford his salary as Don Brown & Drevno are now in the million dollar plus club!

Could be something very

Could be something very simple:

Tua: "What time is your flight?"

Najee: "9am what time is yours?"

Tua: "9am as well, wow we are on the same flight?"

They might both be on the same flight from San Antonio to Atlanta and take different connecting flights to Birmingham vs Oakland. Tua would technically be telling the truth but the Alabama 247 guy then blows it out of proportion.
