Here's a link to the team's reaction to being selected and seeing their place on the bracket. Excited to see if they can make a run here!
Congrats Bakich and men. Remember coach, every run against your team is a threat to your job on this blog, good luck!
Fire Bakich!!!
Might be a short stay but still great to get there and give ourselves a shot.
Avenge 2007.
Yeah, that stung a little bit. Especially considering Oregon State went on to win the college world series.
Extend Bakich!!
Go Blue(Jays)!
Kind of in the same boat as Women’s basketball. Certainly an accomplishment to get into the tournament, but now they need to figure out a way to actually make some noise.
The big ten getting 4 teams in is pretty impressive, I don’t know how many usually make it but baseball seems to favor PAC 12,SEC, and BIG 12
Well, yeah, those leagues are a lot better than the B1G.
Thank you captain obvious!!
5... UM, IU, Illinois, Nebraska, OSU
My mistake, I must of missed IU
I played in the early 2000s. The Big Ten never had more than one team that I remember and it was always whoever won the BT tournament and got the auto bid. Multiple teams making it probably began (again) around 2010 or thereafter. I assume multiple teams made it in the 70s and 80s.
My cousin played at State, his team got an at large bid, I believe they played in Stanford’s regional somewhere around 2012 or so
They got about as favorable a draw as possible.
Just because Oregon st is the 16 seed doesn't make this favorable... they were in the top 3 for a while this year. Very talented team. Creighton has thee guys that rake, with two having an OBP of nearly .500.
Not to mention we draw #1 UCLA if we’re fortunate enough to get out of this region.
I see you're a glass-half-full kinda guy
Sorry if stating other teams strengths is not a glass half full reply.
We have excellent pitching, some have called it the best 3 man rotation in the country, that’s a stretch, but no question the best in the B1G.
We got 21 innings with 7 earned runs (2 shouldn’t have been earned) out of those 3 last weekend, another weekend like that gives us a great chance against anybody if we can just score a few runs.
I was out all yesterday. Anyone know what happened in the Championship game?
Ohio State won grabbing the automatic bid for the Big Ten. Four Big Ten teams ended up making the tournament:
OSU, Indiana, Nebraska, and Michigan.
Illinois also made it so five Big 10 teams.
Thanks. Just realized that. Honestly surprised 5 Big Ten teams made the tournament.
How do you explain the annual end of season collapses of this program..One year maybe..but year after year after year after year? Yes the NCAA at large eases the pain BUT its time to start WINNING the regular season title not choking at seasons end every year...what has Bakich won nhere? 1 tournament title?...not exactly impressive
I nominate you to be our official UM sand pounder. Go to the nearest beach. Then start pounding the sand. Don’t stop until the sand is all pounded and in place. Your effort in the venture is your reward. Good luck and go blue!
I believe the kids today are saying "Fire Bakich." Much more economical. Please make a note of it.
Go Blue.
Make some noise.
Way to go boys! Need our starting pitching to step up in a big way. Hopefully Brewer is healthy, if not I don’t know where our offense is going to come from. We stand no chance if the B1G POY isn’t able to go. Even with him it’s an uphill battle.
That's pretty awesome! GO BLUE!!
So we still firing Bakich?
Time to bring Barry Larkin back to Ann Arbor. Seems to be the trend these days around here.
w00t Go Blue!!
Since we're talking UM baseball, question for the board. Only four P5 schools have won NCs in baseball, football, and basketball. Can anyone name them without looking them up ?
Great question... I’m positive I’ve got 3 of them; Michigan, Florida, FSU. Ohio State, Texas or USC would be my other guess but I don’t think they ever won in basketball. for OSU I heard during the B1G baseball tournament they won the CWS long ago, I would have never known that... I’ll take Texas, and look it up now.

You're positive Florida State has won a national title in hoops?
I clearly stand corrected... great question. I’d be interested if anyone else can come up with them.
I looked them up because I didn't know. I won't give it away. FSU hasn't won baseball, either, FYI. There could be more than 5 schools on the list depending what one counts for national champions in football pre-AP poll in 1936.
Yea I saw that when I looked it up too. Absolutely crazy with how many times Martin went he didn’t win it, I thought for sure he had to have done it at least once.
I was completely caught off guard by the last team...
You named 3 of them: UM, OSU, and Florida. Whose the 4th ?
Ive already looked it up, I’ll leave it to the board to answer.
I had a pretty good idea about UM, OSU, and Florida but the 4th one was a total surprise. I would have never guessed it on my own.

Got the same city with USC. The list is Florida, OSU, UM, UCLA. I remember reading about this when UF won in 2017. That UCLA one is pretty dang surprising.
Add cal as the 5th as Steve alluded to.
Stanford is #6 if you count a shared national title in football in 1925 (per the NCAA website).
