Now that the NIL genie is out of the bottle, it will be interesting to watch its evolution over time. Sooner rather than later, players at the collegiate level won't need the NFL to be set up for life. This will have ramifications downstream.
Interesting times. Can't say that I like all of it.
I see your point, but I simply cannot understand why this process takes so long, unless hourly-billing attorneys are in the driver's seat.
Hell, it can't possibly take THAT long to develop even an intricate contract. We've had months to create a workable document. The original US Constitution took less time, for cryin' out loud.
Sorry, I have a cold, feel like crap, and need something to rant about.
If JUB is correct, and the contract isn't even finished being drafted, I can't blame Harbaugh for shopping around. I was under the impression that Harbaugh had a finished draft from UM in hand and was still sniffing the NFL anyway. Apparently, that isn't the case.
This makes no sense to me unless Warde speaketh with forked tongue and really doesn't want Harbaugh back.
The way he's been attacked and maligned by the NCAA, the media and opposing coaches certainly provides incentive to leave and most of the aforementioned want him out college football for a variety of reasons.
How sweet would it be if he stayed and continued to be a fly in their ointment.
IMHO (and I hate to say it), JJ would be best served to go to the NFL, particularly if we win Monday and he plays well.
By staying he risks two things: 1. Injury. 2. A team next year without quite the same level of talent as this year's team, which could prove a bit frustrating.
During the 2023 season, no other NCAA football game will carry the significance of this one because of the changing landscape of college football and the evolving playoff scenario. The intensity of the rivalry will never be greater.
If Michigan ever had to win a game, this is the one. A loss will unjustifiably validate Ryan Day's rant in the eyes of many cognitively inferior fans and pundits who buy into the sign stealing narrative of unfair advantage. Nevermind the pesky little fact that OSU ostensibly shared our signs with other teams. We simply cannot allow Day to stand at the podium and smugly say, "See... I told you that team up north had to cheat to beat us..."
The good guys have to win this one, and so they will.
I'm sure those competing for Underwood's services are suggesting potential if not likely NCAA sanctions that could easily sway him (along with boatloads of NIL cash). This whole ridiculous sign stealing allegation is the crappy gift that keeps on giving us nightmares.
He's just trying to make an excuse for himself and his failure to his board and fan base. He may as well have said, "We would have won the last two years, but that team up north cheated."
"Jim Harbaugh" can't be on the sidelines, but if he cleverly changed his legal name to, say, Art Vandalay...
Seriously, Michigan agreeing to what appears to be more capitulation than middle ground is a head scratcher. All we can do is hope the players stay pissed, keep fighting the good fight and win without mercy.
If the B1G demands that Harbaugh be punished and off the sidelines, I wonder what would happen if he just refused do follow their excessively punitive edict while expected university litigation is ongoing?

Penix will be a bust. JJ will be proven to be far superior over time.
I'll take one of each, please and thank you.
Perhaps we should eliminate touchdowns too and just give each team a participation trophy afterwards.

I gotta believe Minter's philosophy has permeated the program and hopefully someone on staff will be adept at implementing it.
His throwing motion is a little unorthodox (he kind of "pushes" it at times), but I like him a lot.
No one knows how this will play out, but I believe Harbaugh would prefer to stay if he gets the immunity contract clause.
I'd love to see him stay. So would the recruits, I believe.
Orji, baby.
If Orji has command of his progressions and can throw with touch by this Fall, watch out!
No way... Gotta wait for the ViewMaster version. It's 3D!

Only if Harbaugh returns, IMHO.
Edwards has good speed. He pulled away from the defense in dramatic fashion, especially on that second run.
Need to get LaPorta back.

Everything's bigger in Texas.

Very insightful. However, I disagree with the author that Harbaugh is imperious.
My thoughts, too.
He'd be the fastest dude on whatever team he joins. Genuine Olympic quality speed.
His question is what we all ask ourselves periodically, "Why does this mean so much???"
Good question!
He had no choice but to attend Michigan with that moniker!
Congrats to him. That is one tough-ass sport to compete in.
Yeah! And with poop on it, too!
Ryan DAZED!
Great video. Needed to see Harbaugh in it though.
Go Blue!

It is a good look. It never ceases to amaze me how much smaller the pads are than back in the day.

What an Asshat.
They are hoping with crossed fingers that he makes some sort of inflammatory comment. He's just too cagey for that before the game.
Now, after we win... that's another story!
With JJ and O-line injuries, I'm a more than a bit concerned.

But if, as RG3 posits, everyone is stealing signs and Michigan had no additional advantage, what culpability could logically exist???
Ah... The famous Clint quote!

I think many of them don't really care about sign stealing, but it is fodder that benefits them by getting them notoriety, eyeballs, clicks, etc...
Without getting too political, it reminds me of what Trump is going through. Piling on is stylish and makes for good press.
