I liked Beckmann a lot more when I was 12 years old and knew nothing about him. |
| 7 weeks 6 days ago | Still bitter |
He'll fax in his refusal for the use of his likeness on the eve of the game's release. |
| 9 weeks 6 days ago | Thank you! |
I am constantly impressed by the dedication of our staff and volunteers (nearly 6,000 different people annually) to the mission. I have never been a part of a workforce like this and I consider it a privilege be involved. I suddenly feel I should point out that I'm not on the clock right now. |

I can confirm that we did get subs and it was indeed crazy. Major thanks to Subway! With the help of our partner agencies we have already distributed several hundred subs to the hungry folks in Washtenaw County. |

Yes. |

The giveaway of it being made-for-TV is the font used for the credits is the same one used for every TV show/movie for something like a 10 year span back then. You can really see hints of Jaws in that film, not to mention hints of Spielberg's face in the car's rear view mirror. |

101, though I could go for Booker's about now. |

I know you said peaches not strawberries, but I'm now picturing Gordon Gee as Captain Queeg. EDIT - Meant as a reply to RedGreene. Crap. |

Last time I tuned in there was talk of him tying the knot recently(!). And here I thought arranged marriages were passé... |
| 34 weeks 2 days ago | No thanks |
You can't win with that windbag. I'm supposed to drive my buddy H.R. to a job interview in East Lansing tomorrow anyway. |

Denard was not smiling, just completely fired up with a nasty look in his eye. That may be the first time I've ever seen him like that. |
| 34 weeks 2 days ago | That was fishy. |
And then there was Toussaint catching a poorly thrown swing pass for a loss of 1 when he should have dropped it to stop the clock. We had to burn our last timeout as a result. Hard to expect that of a player in that situation, though. |

His name is Dantonio, not D'Antonio, and he is a good coach, but he's also been nothing but a condescending jackass and he deserves every bit of butthurt he's getting. |
| 37 weeks 3 days ago | I don't know |
The WVU-Baylor game was like watching a baseball game with no strikeouts and a bunch of errors. I like some sound defense at least a few times a game. |
| 37 weeks 5 days ago | Whoops |
You're right of course. Not sure what I was thinking there. |
| 37 weeks 6 days ago | History |
It's mostly a rivalry of historical significance, which admittedly doesn't mean a whole lot in the here and now. I think for Notre Dame it's about several things. There's the bitterness from when Michigan refused to play them for 35 years and there's always being second-best in all-time wins behind the school that they've tried to mimic for well over a century, and still not having been to a BCS bowl. For me it's about a lot of things. Private v. Public schools, Big Ten/Midwest v. their quasi-independent status and national footprint, the sanctimonious words of guys like Paul Hornung ("ND needs to lower it's academic standards in order to get the black athlete"), and preferential treatment from the NCAA, BCS, and now ACC (and they still haven't made a BCS bowl!) I suppose it is mostly just another game that gets more attention due to the history behind it, but I'm with Brian - they're the perfect foil. |
| 37 weeks 6 days ago | Regarding your first point |
Has anyone read "The Courting of Marcus Dupree?" Ever since I saw the "30 for 30" about him I've been interested, but haven't yet gotten the book.. |
| 37 weeks 6 days ago | In the grand scheme | You're absolutely right to have OSU as the main rival, but, like you said, the memories of youth are hard to shake. I'll never forget 1990. Michigan lost a heartbreaker to ND and the next week they were in another nail-biter against MSU. MSU was small potatoes. We just wanted to see the Irish lose. ND's winning score was set up by a play that ND Nation calls "The Immaculate Deflection" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGdewD3hhmw When this play happened my dad, not wanting to curse in front of me, simply said, "I'm sick! I am just sick!" and stormed out of the room. Damn you, Lou Holtz!!! |
| 37 weeks 6 days ago | Video trouble |
Sorry all, the first video works on my desktop, but not the iPad. It's supposed to be "Along Came Jones" by the Coasters. Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q51Y5U5EPck&feature=youtube_gdata_player |
| 38 weeks 1 day ago | Coaching philosophy |
Robinson's skill set is just better suited to Rodriguez's offensive philosohpy. Rodriguez's passing plays were almost always short, quick hitters all based on timing, plus he rarely had Robinson throw downfield which Borges does frequently. That will really boost the completion percentage. |
| 38 weeks 2 days ago | This post is like Craig James' campaign |
Unnecessary, ill-advised, and with dead hookers in its wake. |
| 39 weeks 1 day ago | Good post |
Oh, that's too small of a sample size, you say? I hate you so much.I knew something along these lines was coming, and the delivery still made it hilarious. |
| 39 weeks 3 days ago | Swarbrick |
Swarbrick looks just how I imagine every Notre Dame AD has ever looked: white, snooty, bespectacled, and sitting on a broomstick. |
| 39 weeks 3 days ago | Ugh Musberger |
The way Brent Musberger says "Aahhrrish" instead of "Irish" really gets on my nerves. |
