5 losses in 6 games.
to play football, not to play trumpet
this is hilarious, as long as we kick their ass.
I can just picture every OSU fan I know saying some variation of "well we beat you and we SUCK this year." This cannot happen.
2014. What a great year.... So far
''Why limit me?''-2014
I don't think I could ever get tired of watching someone cross over Aaron Craft for the game-winning bucket.
This is the difference between teh Big Ten and the SEC.
It was the strangest thing to get used to while going to school in the SEC watching them root for their rivals. I couldn't do it.
Penn State sneaking in and out of Columbus with a W
Too bad Newbill didn't do this to Craft
Don't we only get to play them once this year?
Yes, in Columbus. Thanks, Big Ten!
What a kick in the dick. PSU totally getting jobbed on a couple of obvious calls but they pull it out anyway. Love it.
Shows how tough this conference is top to bottom. Always nice to see OSU lose. Craft had a brain fart at the end - why did he go behind the back on his dribble and not even get a shot off? Did he think 1.9 seconds was like 5 seconds or something?
What? I actually turned it off because it looked like they were going to start pulling away. That is some crazy stuff!
again i apologize
This is a tough conference to play i still think that Ohio ia a goo- pffffftt I couldn't even finish that, f@#k Ohio. How do you lose to Penn State at HOME with Tim Frazier scoring EIGHT points! #Buckeyetearsaremoredeliciousthatspartys
Still haven't figured out how to click save just the one time huh? It's not so hard. Try it.
Gargamel is PISSED tonight.
Let's not be mistaken. They are going to play us like it's the NBA finals with the magic of Europe playing in their heads like it's the Piston's 1989 season.
NIT* NIT* NIT*
Not In a Tournament
Not Invited to a Tournament
Great job by PSU to come to OSU and extend the Buckeye loss streak!!
because that was a good joke
I wish this game would finally kill the idea that Craft is an excellent basketball player. But next game Dakich does where craft breaks up a pass we will get to hear again how he is one of the best players in college basketball.
dakich"s crush is nothing compared to vitale.
And that was even with OSU getting an extra second or two from the click manager on that last inbound pass. There is no way Craft is able to dribble for that long with 1.9 seconds left
Just checked it on the replay with a stopwatch. 2.73 seconds passed from the time Craft touched the ball until the clock hit zero.
Aaron Craft is such a hustle player that time literally slows down when he has the ball. Gotta love that kid's tenacity on the court.
I watched it live and thought "WTF - this is the longest <2 seconds ever." Sparty Bob on the clock last night?
The lesser of two evils prevailed!
That's like comparing that one guy that cut in front of you in line three years ago to Hitler.
WA WA WEE WA!!!!!!!!
Frazier was playing like ass and they were still good enough to win! Newbill's back oughta be hurting from carrying them down the stretch. That big dude they have played some clutch minutes and made a few plays himself.
They're more likely to make the College Insider tournament than the NIT.
My friend, who is an Ohio fan, tweeted at me: "celebrate rare OSU losses then. Michigan Basketball hasn't beaten anyone and Michigan football lost a joke bowl to a joke team"
My, how things have changed since then.
When was that?
January 16th. Since then, Michigan has beaten 3 top 10 teams and Ohio has lost to Penn State and Nebraska.
The wheels have fallen off... Great for a laugh, but no so good for the B1G. The last thing we need is to lay an egg as a conference in the NCAA.
I disagree, much like the SEC in football, at this point everyone thinks the Big Ten is the best conference in college basketball, so when the bottom feeders wins it just speaks to the depths of the league, not a lack of quality at the top.
Besides, unlike college football reputation doesn't mean as much, there is an actual tournament to decide who is good and who isn't.
Plenty of people don't think the B1G is the best basketball conference.
would be wrong on this.
According to Bill Walton's insightful analysis last night, the Pac-12 is the best conference in college basketball simply because they have the #1 ranked team at this point.
Deserve two poss bang threads.
IT'S 9:28 PM AND OHIO STILL SUCKS
Ohio lost it...
But have no worries, Aaron Craft will use all the MOXIE and GRIT in his power to take this team to the promised land.
I'm enjoying this as much as I'm enjoying our success. See you later Ohio.
Wow. Not even mad that the B1G is heading towards only 5 teams in the tourney.
MSU, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota for sure
I take it all back. I was wrong.
I believe in 2014!!!
what's the matta with the Buckeyes?
Its a rivalry and all, but I dont see how we lose to Ohio. No Thomas= no threat whatsoever.
a 3 team race and Iowa is hanging by a thread.
Kiss that ranking goodbye.
LOL enjoy the NIT.
I'm more worried about the Indiana road game at this point than Ohio on the road.
All of them.
Uhhh, that graphic/chart has Michigan State 0 games-behind! Fix that!
Isn't games behind calculated like [(W1-W2)+(L2-L1)] / 2 ? i.e. You average the difference in wins and the difference in losses. Since MSU has both one more win and one more loss than us they would technically be zero games behind
Ohio is behing Purdue, Indiana, and Minnesota and tied with Northwestern. ROFL
Now they are #8 in the Big Ten.
It can only get better. Their next two games: @Wisconsin @Iowa
I thought OSU was a paper tiger with that undefeated start against nobody, but I never thought they were THIS bad. There is a legit chance they miss the tourney if they finish with a losing reecord in conference, and right now how many marquee wins are they going to get to offset losing to PSU, Nebraska, etc.? And they are going to Wiscy and Iowa the next two games. They could easily be 3-7 in conference and basically needing to run the slate to get a bid, because their best OOC win is maybe Marquette or ND, two .500 teams.
Their best rpi win is north dakota st. How does that get them into the tourny?
Yep, just noticed that too. They'll probably get a scalp or two in the B1G to pad their case, but it is going to be tough especially if they continue to flounder. They can't afford to really lose another game at home and they better start picking up road wins in bunches.
Good point. Similar to how Iowa last year finished ahead of Illinois and Minnesota, at 9-9 in conference but missed the Tournament; they played nobody during the OOC schedule. Ohio has beaten Marquette and Maryland (and NDSU, which is their best RPI win I guess?!, lulz). Those are probably better teams than Iowa beat last year but still, I'm not sure they're Tournament-bid wins.
According to their website, Bates-Diop 5* and Tate 4* have UM offers. I am not sure why we haven't offered Russel 5*
Now would be a good time to go after these guys.
What sane recruit would want to join a team with a toxic atmosphere and so much bad blood between players?
DeShaun Thomas @DT1UpNComin: (February 25, 1:33 PM) "They say keep your friends close and your enemies closer. The problem is, nowadays you can't tell who your enemies are."
Well, recruits sign letters of intent which they did as did our recruits, so those would be very hard to get released from.
In my excitement, I obviously, did not pay close attention to my own link.
So, barring some unforeseen NCAA sanctions, I presume that JB would need to convince a transfer to sit out a year, like Donnal did. That admittedly would be a hard sell for high calibre players. JB and his assistants would have to judge whether a commit is sufficiently disaffected or worried. Any further recruiting efforts on signed commits might not be worth the effort of our busy coaches. Such efforts, however, could be really worthwhile as we compete with Ohio for the next class of recruits. The problem at Ohio may involve players who remain on the team as well as coaches.
but DeShaun Thomas doesn't play for them anymore, hence their issues.
Thanks for the correction. I should have checked Thomas is now playing in the French league.
In any case, his comments may still apply to players on the current team.
Thats why ranking dont mean shit..play hard, win and everything else will take care of itself..thats what michigan has been doing..
Football program please take note
I love seeing Ohio lose. It's like the ultimate schadenfreude. Can we play PSU's game winning shot on a loop when they come to visit?
For the posbang
Lmao I'm at a restaurant with my folks didn't believe the score what the hell happened??
DJ Newbill, refs actually called some fouls on Craft, Ohio has no reliable scorers
That ooc schedule was extremely weak at best.
Of all years we don't get to play them at home...ugh!
Oh well...beat the crap out of them in their own dump!
And this is why Ohio hates the whole state of Michigan
This makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
I hate Aaron Craft. Holding is not defense, its a foul!
It's only a foul if they call it.
It's only a foul if they call it.
It's only a foul if they call it.
Great to watch this tire fire of a season. They either get this turned around pronto -- seems unlikely -- or they are headed for the bottom half of the B10.
Do we relegate teams, like they do in soccer? Should look into that.
At the end of the day, if you are going to manage an effective field goal percentage which is about 10% less than you opponent, things like this happen. Well done ,Nittany Lions...
Matta's rear end is puckering...and his Buckeyes are in the ditch. It only gets worse from here.
And remember, this crappy team was a layup away from beating Sparty - with all its Wounded Warriors in the lineup - in East Lansing.
We're not going to lose to either Ohio or Sparty this year.
Living in Ohio, most of my friends are Ohio fans. Two in particular are the biggest Craft supporters in the world. They won't hear the end of it tomorrow. Go Blue
This season just keeps getting better and better.
Ya, it's in Columbus, and ya, you KNOW they are going to be up for this game, no matter how down they might be now.
But hey, for now? HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heavens, this is terrible for them. They may very well not be ranked next week!
For the first time. Shit is AMAZING
I love that you can SMELL just how hoppy it is, before you even taste it...
all their tattoos were free!
Sooooooo awesome!!!!!! Best part was the basket was scored on Craft being crossed up!
for them are at Iowa and Wisconsin, so make it 7 of 8 losses
Here is the Eleven Warriors thread for when Michigan lost to Penn State last year:
at least that was on the road. and i don't know if they remember, but going to the national championship game is kind of a big deal.
The best ever college player who can't play in the NBA? He is the only difference from last year's team.
Bench Craft, start Della Valle. I've never thought Craft was good or had any pro potential, but how the hell did he get drastically WORSE over the last 2 years?
This is very little bother-ish behavior.
because OSU would never pull a stunt like this, oh wait
edit: beaten by tbeindit up above
I'd like to think we are better than that.
We aren't purchasing penn state uniforms to sport around campus like MSU did with app state. This is just good old-fashioned schadenfreude. Nothing wrong with that.
Fuck OSU, I myself will make fun of them every time they shit the bed against a terrible team!
I haven't snickered this much since I read about the southerners trying to deal with 2 inches of snow.
Sigh when will people understand it wasn't snow it was ice down here that caused the issue and we don't have flat roads it's all Hills and steep grades. I challenge you to drive on that successfully.
I have a hill in my road, in Michigan, and I drive up and down it everyday in the winter! Challenge accepted.
Lol add an inch of ice to it with no salt and record it while doing the three goggles.
Lol, no matter how you rationalize it, it was helpless and mostly pathetic. But hills I tell ya!
Lol great comment because the thousands of 18 wheelers that couldn't drive on the iced over highways really had something to do with me.
Sorry to threadjack but I just figured out the name of a song I have always wanted to know for over a year! This night is getting better! The song is "I'm a Boss" by Maybach Music Group. They play it at Michigan Basketball games and I have always wanted to know what it is. Oh my god! This is awesome! Go Blue!
I should photoshop a new mascot punching Brutus in my avatar each time they lose. But it'd literally take all of my free time.
1) Thad Matta had a deal with the devil;
2) Said deal expired in early January 2014;
3) Matta has gone back into negotiations with Satan, but Satan's demands have gone up to include:
a) a lifetime pact with Matta; and
b) renegotiated deals with both Urban and Gene Smith
Both the story AND the devil's increased demands submitted to Matta sound legit to me. I'm guessing a deal will be soon worked out a nd a pact signed by all parties...
1) tHAD mATTA t
The B1G is starting to look like Mich and MSU, and no one else. Iowa...horrible last night. Wisconsin, tonight. OSU...Lolhio. Minnesota...L at Nebraska. Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, etc etc. Maybe it's not the conference we thought it was??
I think the teams at the bottom are far better then there records might indicate. Personally I think Penn State has the pieces to be a .500 B1G team, and Nebraska looks like they could be a tourney team next year. Not sure what to make of Northwestern, or Illinois, but the B1G is truly a deep conference.
I agree. I'd rank the B1G teams from top to bottom, given what they've shown in conference so far, as follows: Mich, MSU, Iowa (still giving them the benefit of the doubt because of their depth), Minnesota, Northwesterm, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Purdue, Indiana, OSU, Penn State, Illinois.
The Illini are clearly the worst, and I can't move Penn State past OSU just yet. Of course I'd love to see them end the season at the bottom...
I was tempted last week to make a blog post comparing Della Valle to Spike. As I recall we cooled on Della Valle near the end of the recruiting process and ultimately ended up with the little known, and little regarded Spike Albrecht. Just another example of Beilein being Beilein.
Posted #youoff after we lost to Penn St last year. Think he feels like a scorned ex-girlfriend after we took Spike over him?
the natural response to della valle:
Ohio State basketball 2014 = Michigan football 2013?
NU football in 2013, the season jinx ironically starting with the loss to OSU.
Two huge errors at the end of regulation ( both favoring OSU) that even a high school ref would get right. The out of bounds play was even reviewed and there is no possible way that was the correct call. How could three refs miss basket interference? And then on the last drive of the game, who is keeping time Spartan Bob? This is just another day of horrible B1G refereeing - very sad.
The loss ended OSU's 80 straight wins against unranked teams, which was the longest active streak in Division I. Matta also had an 18-game win streak against PSU. The last time Penn State won at OSU in 1998. That game went to overtime, too.
80 straight wins at home I assume? Considering they already lost to Nebraska on the road
Doesn't look like we are quite the power conference this year.
Still the clear cut best conference IMO.
OSU looked sluggish - like a wet sponge.
Well I like watching OSU lose, I'd rather see both the Bucks and Badgers win tonight. The B1G is looking pretty shaky and non-competitive this year. Either that or we're just unbelievably good and everyone else is in fact that good and things are in fact very competitive. Doesn't look like that to me, tho.
Northwestern making the Badgers press look like HAVOC. Earlier in the game, they were playing like Michigan against HAVOC!
I think we officially put OSU on the bubble. This is incredible I can't look away.
The badgers just lost lol what the hell is wrong with the BIG ten?
Guys we're beating each other in the B1G because of the greatness of our conference a large SEC foosball. duh
Good. I hope that when we go to C-Bus we just take OSU behind the woodshed and beat them senselessly like a scarlet-headed stepchild.
I hope we make Aaron Craft never want to play basketball again.
I hate myself. I turned the station when OSU was up 11. I hated seeing all those Buckeye fans happy. I guess it serves me right. But I still have this fear that they're waiting until they play us to finally right the ship.
Always want the Buckeyes to fail. Epic fails are best
*except against us
Especially when it's ohio!
NO. That's right. OH-NO You suck!
