Same. I thought I was the…

Same. I thought I was the only one!

I have also been saying the same thing that Crime Reporter said above. I had no idea that my experience as a Michigan fan was so universal in the fanbase! I hope this team can put all these demons to bed tonight!

For sure, but that's sports!…

For sure, but that's sports! What happened on the field that time is literally the thing that actually matters about the sport! I'm laughing my ass off over here man, this is gold!

I just think a head to head…

I just think a head to head win is the gold standard for a tie breaker.

Both teams have one loss, both teams won their conference championship. How can we pick between the two? "Texas beat Alabama on the field, therefore Texas" is a stronger argument to me than "Texas lost to a decent Oklahoma team and Alabama lost to a very good Texas team, therefore Alabama". I don't see how a head to head match up isn't the better way to break the tie.

Michigan's team and coaching…

Michigan's team and coaching staff should let it go and focus on Bama. Us fans have 0 to do with winning that game and are free to talk about FSU getting screwed.

This is a ridiculous take. …

This is a ridiculous take. "Alabama is better than Texas because Alabama lost to Texas and Texas lost to Oklahoma."

Can you convince everyone…

Can you convince everyone else who has that additional information to never divulge it?

I don't feel like honking…

I don't feel like honking the Bog Ten much these days either.

That's going to be a very…

That's going to be a very useful degree! I wish I had done a Masters in something more related to statistics and the like.

Unfortunately the job market is cooler than it was a couple of years ago, but I still hear about folks hiring. If I was your son, I'd be applying for data science / data analyst positions at startups. They won't pay as much as the bigger tech companies, but they're more apt to take a chance on someone with less experience. Series A & B is kind of the sweet spot in terms of runway and upside.

In terms of where to find openings - LinkedIn is still the best spot I've found, but he might want to check out Wellfound and WorkAtAStartup. Tell him good luck!

That makes logical sense,…

That makes logical sense, but then again I also would have thought that Warde would have been Harbaugh's first call after deciding not to jump to the NFL last year. There's been so much weirdness between Warde and Jim it wouldn't surprise me if this sort of internal negotiation didn't get done the way it would have at any other athletic department.

Except it seems like it is…

Except it seems like it is about the number? If the plan is to insure against the Harbaugh being out for the Texas game, why not just go with 4 so that the NCAA doesn't really have a leg to stand on when they propose more games next year?

I've been on tech data teams…

I've been on tech data teams for most of my career and have worked with quite a few CPAs that have converted to data analytics and data science careers. They're very complimentary skillsets, and basically every tech company needs data folks to enable their finance and accounting teams.

My advice would be to get really good at SQL and pretty good at python (just learn the basics and the pandas library). You should get picked up quick in an analytics role with your CPA background if you can show you know SQL in a technical interview.

SQLbolt is a great primer for SQL, and I'd maybe try some Code Academy and an O'Reilly book to learn python.

You can see some flashes of…

You can see some flashes of what he was supposed to be: a really athletic 7 footer who has a good inside scoring game and the raw athleticism to be an impact guy on defense. The thing that he really struggles with is the mental side. A lot of the time he's lost out there, especially on defense.

The Warriors were too good to give him many minutes. Luckily the Pistons don't have that problem. Even with the crowded front court I can see them giving him enough time to start to figure things out.

Yeah this is correct. It's…

Yeah this is correct. It's pretty easy to do #1-4: #1 UGA is undefeated, #2 TCU beat #3 Michigan, and #3 Michigan beat #4 OSU.

Yeah I'm with you 100%. He's…

Yeah I'm with you 100%. He's not inventing incidents and the ones that he brings up aren't trivial. Deciding to draw a line between them all is up to you.

The fact that he's at the Daily and writing this is a good thing! No program, group of people, etc should be off limits for questioning, particularly when there's actually something to question them about.

Hopefully he ran into a Northwestern fan and was put in his place.

It is a bummer that we can't…

It is a bummer that we can't point and laugh at (note: not with) people who are doing that as a reaction to their own football team.

Ultimately I get it, though. It comes down to advertisers - no one wants to have their brand pop up next to a post with a bunch of slurs in it.

I like the cut of your jib,…

I like the cut of your jib, Joe. I do my business in the business room.

One explanation that makes…

One explanation that makes some sense to me for guys like Houstan and Max Christie is fear of the "double draft". There's a lot of speculation that in the next few years the NBA will once again allow players to be drafted right out of high school. The NBA Draft the year that this takes place will have two years worth of top picks - the group that just completed their "one and done" season in college and the group that's free to jump straight to the league rather than go to college.

If guys like Houstan and Christie are hearing that this going to happen in the next few years, it might make them more likely to jump into the draft even if they're projected to be late 1st - early 2nd round picks to get ahead of it. Instead of potentially getting bumped down ~5 spots by those high school guys, they get drafted, get at least a year of full time professional basketball experience, and are in a much better position to fight for an NBA roster spot down the line.

Of course this is all just a basketball conspiracy theory, but it would explain why these borderline guys would be willing to roll the dice rather than stick it out another year. As others have said, we've seen a lot of sophomores go high in the draft. It feels like it can't just be a fear of looking bad for not jumping as a freshman.

The first being Gard…

The first being Gard grabbing Juwan's arm and blocking him from getting by.  I believe that he was trying to explain himself but he knew Juwan was angry, and you just don't grab an angry man when he's trying to walk past you.

That's what it looked like to me. And I think the correct response (if you're still planning on being upset) to that is to pull your arm away, say "get off me" and keep walking down the line.

I'm with you on everything…

I'm with you on everything you said here. I love Juwan, but he crossed the one line that you cannot cross as the head coach of a basketball team.

Yell at the opposing coach, talk shit in the handshake line, tweet about him afterwards, whatever - that's fine! But you cannot escalate a situation like this and physically attack anyone. The head coach should be the coolest head out there when push comes to shove.

Anyway, from the looks of it the sentiment here is that a suspension is the move. I just don't know if that's right. Like you said, if Izzo were to physically attack an opposing coach we'd all be calling for his job. And I think that would be right! I just don't see how we can have a head basketball coach that's done something like this A) representing the school and B) leading a group of young men.

I didn't realize people who…

I didn't realize people who are just watching the game like to get hyped up beforehand. This explains a lot of the posts in the snowflake threads.

I'm not sure about that. I…

I'm not sure about that. I kind of think the downside of not transferring is at least a couple rounds in the NFL Draft. Hard to imagine an NFL team spending a 1st - 4th round pick on a college backup. Meanwhile why not find an equivalent to the Jalen Hurts / Oklahoma situation?

Not trying to cancel the…

Not trying to cancel the messenger but this means nothing unless JJ was getting starter level snaps. I think JJ is good but there's a very slim chance that he's anywhere near CJ Stroud if he were the starter.

I have to think a lot of…

I have to think a lot of that is first game jitters. A lot of adrenaline behind those throws.

Absolutely. Alabama wouldn't…

Absolutely. Alabama wouldn't be kicking the tires/offering a kid that would be unlikely to ever see the field in their program.

1000% correct on this one…

1000% correct on this one. The game has evolved past the point of being able to stop well run offenses by having equivalent athletes on the other side. We're going to have to scheme our way out of this one on defense and have an offense that can take advantage of any stop we get.

I'm super excited about Myles! He seems like a high floor kind of guy with his size and athleticism. I was completely sold when I saw that hit on the IMG kid.

Disturbingly vivid imagery…

Disturbingly vivid imagery. Even if you didn't know what it was, the name "Zug Island" really works here.

It seems that these types of…

It seems that these types of "gimmicky" schemes work best for the team that does them first, and is much less effective for those that try to imitate them. I think part of this is the novelty factor - defenses have no idea what to do the first time they see a new thing.

The other part is that the original team tailored that gimmick specifically to their guy. Taysom Hill is pretty unique and the scheme is effective because of that. I don't think you can find a guy that's kind of like Hill, run that same gimmick, and expect it to work. It feels like that's what we'd be doing if we ran a Taysom Hill-esque package with Dan Villari.

In honor of your new…

In honor of your new nickname, Broose.

He'd be amazing to have on…

He'd be amazing to have on the team this year, but it's hard to imagine him signing up for a year in a crowded Dickinson / Diabate / Johns front court.

Looks like he was in contact…

Looks like he was in contact Shaun Nua in the first recruiting go around. Not sure how much that means.

To Bill Brasky!

To Bill Brasky!

The worst part is that it…

The worst part is that it wasn't even a fluke. That MSU team decided to force feed Ricky White and we couldn't stop it, even though we knew what was coming. Easily the most demoralizing game of the last 5-10 years (thank god 2008 is 10+ years away now).

Normally I would never…

Normally I would never encourage people to go over to RCMB, but they are coping with this in the funniest way possible. And that's coming from a Michigan fan!

In response to him being called "the #1 kid out of HS since LeBron":

Since Lebron ? This must be a joke. He has been horrendous against comp. he’s been the same size since 9th grade , can’t get by his man , volume shooter , and etc etc.

In a rolling 2 year period…

In a rolling 2 year period there may be! If they can get the top 15 players from each junior + senior class to show up it would be some really high level basketball.

That said, this would likely mean no college ball for any of the guys in this league since they're already getting paid. That would also mean that you wouldn't be getting college basketball fans watching these games to see players that will be on their team next year. So are all the fans watching NBA fans trying to see who's next? I'm a fairly big NBA fan and I definitely wouldn't watch.

I mean say what you will…

I mean say what you will about that championship game, but if you're a one and done type you could do a lot worse than Gonzaga. You get to play for the team in a college basketball obsessed town, improve your draft stock all season by beating up on lesser talent, draw a top seed in the tournament all but guaranteeing a deep run, and then get drafted in the top 10 and ride off into the sunset.

That's pretty awesome for an 18 year old. I bet he will have fun!

He looked good last year too, all things considered. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was the most game ready QB on the roster come next season.

It's so fun to watch him…

It's so fun to watch him figure out how to score down low from basically any position. It's like watching someone solve a Rubik's cube.

Armand Hammer (former board…

Armand Hammer (former board member of the company that makes Arm & Hammer products) is actually Armie Hammer's great grandfather. Curiously enough the Arm & Hammer brand name was in use way before Armand Hammer was associated with it.

Yep, no mixed feelings here. Dave Portnoy is a bad person.

One of those guys that comes…

One of those guys that comes in looking like an NFL player already. Love to see that, especially in a defensive tackle, and especially in a defensive tackle in 2021.

For some reason I had 21 in my mind, my mistake.

Yep, this is spot on. Him…

Yep, this is spot on. Him being more in the traditional center mold may actually hurt us in terms of the stay / go thought process. He's already shown he's more than capable of doing all the things a traditional big does, and he's already 21 which is considered "sorta old" in the NBA draft. The only reason he would come back is to work on his outside game, which honestly might not move the needle that much anyway.

If I were him, I'd be gone after this season. Give the NBA a shot, start the rookie scale contract clock earlier, and come back to UM when the NBA career is over.

Maybe I'm just too cynical,…

Maybe I'm just too cynical, but I think we'd be having the same conversation even if Indiana weren't in the COVID situation they're in.

I still believe that the Big Ten's biggest fear for this season was that a 6-1 OSU / PSU / UM(lol) didn't make the championship game because there's a 3-0 team in the division. I don't think they considered that the opposite could also happen.

This just illustrates that…

This just illustrates that the point of the original rule was to keep a team like Indiana out of the championship game.

Tough to make that hire if…

Tough to make that hire if you're Michigan's AD. If it works out, you look like a genius. If it doesn't, you're the guy who hired the coach of Ferris State.
