OT: Fredi the Pizza Man Foundation

I know there are mixed feelings about El Pres around these parts but this is a great story that I thought everyone could get behind. As a father of a daughter with disabilities, I built my own sensory room at our house for her to engage with and it's been awesome to see her enjoy it. 

Anyway, when Dave visits pizza joints it's similar to the Triple D effect where they get swamped with new customers. What's awesome here is not only the monster score and calling Fredi's "the best pizza in Detroit, without question" but how many people have reached out to donate to Fredi's charity which aims at putting these sensory rooms in all Michigan schools for kids with autism.

Yup, definitely on the far end of "selfish" and "immature" and "unrepentant" end of the scale, as far as my perception of him goes. But "bad" people can do good things for various reasons - whether it's genuine (b/c I don't think anyone is 100% bad/evil) or for PR purposes; or whatever else.

Glad one (or many) of the mgoblogerati are benefitting from or aligning to these good things.

Portnoy’s stuff gets taken down on here because he is an unrepentant bigot who deserves no clicks. 
 

That being said, Fredi didn’t do it, and his personal charitable work is admirable.

And, that pizza sounds delicious.

Loui's in Hazel Park. Interesting story about the history and separation of Buddy's, Shield's, and Loui's in the great "Detroit Style Pizza" evolution. 

There is also a similar type of story about the evolution from Original Pancake House to Pancake Pantry / The Pantry... fun stuff if you want to look into it.

For those that want to try out Fredi's in person, it is at Allen and Clarence in Melvindale. Oakwood would be the appropriate exit off I-94. If there are any folks here that work at Ford's Allen Park labs (it's also near one of our large warehouses), you've likely eaten here.
