Damn. What a prick. Now I'm gonna have to donate $551 million to CMU just to beat this asshole.

But seriously, good for him and WMU. This does raise an interesting question. Where would you donate if you had that kind of money? I would probably spread my money around to animal shelters throughout the country.

Why waste your money? Just open Chinese restaurants next to them. Control overpopulation AND make a profit.

[Edit: this post by MGoHillbilly is being addressed in the mod sticky thread. I considered removing it but decided to instead leave it in place because MGoUser "Kehnonymous" took the high road while clearly stating his objections to the post. If I had removed this, everything threaded below would have also disappeared.

Objections, observations, etc? Please take them to the mod sticky.

So is he implying that most Chinese people eat dogs?  While I personally find that festival pretty horrific as do many other Chinese people, I find the implication that Chinese restaurants are associated with dog-eating really curious since no one in my extended family (most of which lives in HK and China) has ever entertained such a notion, so I don't really understand the subtext here.  Why is it that people seem to think Chinese (and by extension Chinese-Americans like me) eat dogs?

MGoHillbilly - would you care to unpack that for us?

My pops served in the US Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict in the 50's.  He saw a group of locals roasting a dog over an open fire.

That being said, I know of Americans that eat bull testicles, pig brains and tripe (which is a muscle found in the stomach of cows, pigs and sheep)......

Yet to imply all Americans eat such things would be absurd, as is it absurd to insinuate all Chinese restaurants serve dog, all Chinese (or Asians for that matter) eat dog.

My son goes to Western. I'm sure this means tuition goes down/s.  Thank you Strykers! That's the word from K-zoo. Now they can afford a defensive coordinator.

That's precisely what they will do: Add bureaucratic layers and fluff up athletes while academic stars get the shaft (again). And tuition will keep going up at triple the rate of inflation. The administration there is entirely financially irresponsible and this will only serve to embolden them.

I graduated from WMU in 2014.  While I was there, they ripped up hundreds of yards of perfectly good sidewalks with very few cracks and replaced them with slightly better sidewalks.  They also "remodeled" Miller fountain.  While both of these things could be defended or justified, I also attended classes where equipment was outdated.  In my opinion the money would have been better spent in a way that improves academics rather than in a way that wows the parents of freshmen during Welcome Week.

This number is unbelievable, and I hope it will be applied to ensure students' and educators' comfort. I've been a student here, and sometimes I've felt so miserable with some assignments, so I've used [SPAM LINK DELETED a 2nd time] to get some help. Educators are so busy, and it's obvious, but it's necessary to get some of their support as studying is hard. But, it was several years ago, maybe the situation changed.

You were a student at Western?

Can you prove it by singing the WMU fight song?  I kinda doubt it, but I'll give you the rest of the day to respond; otherwise I'll be banning you for spamming this website.

In the meantime, I've already deleted your spam link, 'Oliver'.
