Read Brian's response below.

And on top of that: every little bit helps in getting Brandon out of here. You never know what is going to break someone's support for him.

For Brandon, this is definitely a worse is better scenario. There can be no question he has to go to the people in charge and with influence.

If i recall, the original skepticism arose when people wanted to see the "respectful" message his friend's aunt had sent that provoked DB's supposed response. WD was unable to produce it so the skepticism grew. it would be interesting to see what the aunt had sent supposedly because If it is legit then DB's response is really only meaningful in the context of what was sent to him.

My impression is that this skepticism is based, at least in small part, on the fact that WD is considered an "asshat" by some people. (Not by me, but then, I haven't been here that long.)

Yes, he absolutely screwed up by not attaching the email to his original post, thus opening himself up to disbelief and scorn. But for many, the disbelief and scorn were already there. So if the skepticism has grown, his negative reputation was the fertile ground it grew in.

Here's the thing, though: You know the old saying, "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while?" Well, even an asshat gets it right sometimes. The kid might be annoying, but that doesn't guarantee that he's wrong.

Imagine the thing you love most in your life. Perhaps a wife or girlfriend, maybe a son or daughter, and multiply that love by 3 and make that thing you love Michigan Athletics.

Take all of your years of education. Preschool through college, hell graduate school if you attended and let that collective knowledge be of all things Maize and Blue Sport.

Tack in a collection of all known Michigan apparel, fully inclusive of all alternate jerseys and gimicky crap that Dave Brandon thinks we love.

Now imagine this thing is a teenager.

They might be true because Brian desperately wants them to be true and will go to great lengths to attempt to verfiy what is pretty obviously a hoax to any unbiased observer.

We're talking about double hearsay on a sports blog from a 19-year-old with an intense hatred for Brandon. Come on.

Who the hells cares anyway?  Snarky or not, he's likely gone. Let's stop wasting the time of people with actual work to do at the University.

WD needs MGoBlog and MGoBlog needs WD.

I feel lost. I do not know what uniforms we're wearing this weekend nor have I learned any miscellaenous stats from the 1941 team this week

They played all their games in 1941. After beating Stanford 49-0 in 1902, M didn't go to another bowl game until defeating USC 49-0 in 1948. M won its first four bowl games (all Rose Bowls) and then lost its first seven bowls under Bo Schembechler. The 1941 team is overshadowed by the 1940 team (Harmon). They beat MSU, tied OSU, and lost to Minnesota. Minnesota was a major rival to UM in the '40s when they played the same spoiler role as did Chicago in the aughts of the 20th century. As far as I know, they did not then call it "Team 62."

Whether they are real or not, I don't really give a shit. He should already be back posting. He did get a little crazy with the Brandon hate, but he's a teenager. They tend to get carried away with stuff. He brings a lot to the board, and we all need to stick together in these uncertain times.

It's definition of lose lose. Proven real, the majority of the world says "figures." Claims from both side but no truth determined, skepticism runs rampant and peoples predetermined POVs remain. Proven fake, mgoblog becomes just another blogger in basement venue

If this email is true I'd say it's pretty damning. You can't be AD and write FU to a fan and/or alumnus. Not very good for a University representative to do that to a donor. If this in fact real it also feeds into the narrative that this AD

1) Tests our patience at their actions

2) Screws up

3) Hides, obfuscates, and/or offers some kind of excuse/coverup

4) This remedy turns out to be worse than the crime

If this is true Brandon and the University FOIA Department would have

1) Thought it was a good idea to respond to somebody in such an inappropriate way while in a position of power

2) Actually take said action and says FU to a fan/alumnus

3) The FOIA Department made this to look like a non story which is hurting a 19 year old kid (I realize this isn't the AD but he could have come out and said this was untrue or apologized for it instead if it's not that big a deal)

4) If this turns out to be true and the University is made to look like an AD who blatantly mistreats fans/alumnus... woo boy things are going to get pretty ugly after a long series of blunders this year.

I'd rather the truth be out there then have a 19 year old's reputation suffer with the alternative being true that if Brandon didn't say this then I wouldn't want his reputation ruined either.

This is a fairly big deal IMO and could be the thing that finally pushes Schlissel over the tipping point to finally fire this incompetent HiPPO (highest paid person in the organization).

The original email never said FU, it said go cheer on another team. Brandon has already said that with his actions - a snotty email doesn't shake new ground. What's more, WD is an anonymous poster, not some Michigan Daily kid with his future at stake. You want it to be true bc of an existing dislike for DB, not bc it truly changes the landscape of this topic

It would be quite easy to even make up emails between two people or a group of people. So, I don't think I will be convinced either way. What is it pictures of the alleged act? If so, I will have to say that I will believe them to be most likely fake still. Anyone who is semi-decent with photoshop can create numerous fake emails. Now if the email in question was forwarded from Dave's actual email address to Brian, that's a lot more believable.
