Way OT: Favorite Fast Food

Submitted by GRBluefan on
The criteria is...if you could only eat at one fast food place for the rest of your life, which would it be? My top 5... 1.) McDonalds - menu variety, great breakfast, healthy options 2.) Wendy's - I am addicted to the Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe, and find the Frosty fascinating 3.) Jimmy John's - I like their subs far and away more than any other chain (although Potbelly is also good). 4.) Taco Bell - would probably rank higher if not for the lack of a diverse menu. Why can't they add a darn breakfast burrito? 5.) KFC - One word...Sides! Okay everyone...help me broaden my horizons!!!

We have a deep fryer (for wings at least once a week) and the wife was talking to some people at work and they said that the secret to making fries that taste like McDonalds, is to pre-soak the cut potatoes in two tablespoons of sugarwater for about an hour. Cook them normal, and then right before dinner is served, put them in again for less than a minute. They were amazing! Just an FYI-

That is the same thing that I asked my wife. I saw them soaking in the sugarwater and I just gave my wife one of those looks like, "really?"! To clarify, a bowl of water, two tablespoons of sugar. The timing of this post is spectacular. We got the recipe on Thursday and then made the fries lastnight!

13 posts in and no one has picked Burger King. The Whopper and their chicken sandwich are great, but everything else pretty much sucks.

I worked at Arbys when I was 14 till 17. So definitely not their. I'm not a big fan of fast food but Subway and Jimmy Johns are always good.

Some of these are somewhat regional but still awesome... 1) Portillo's - Good Italian beef and great fries... 2) Popeyes - Their chicken blows KFC out of the water... 3) Culvers - Butter burgers; enough said 4) Five Guys - Really good burgers (found them in DC and now they are opening up here in Chicago) 5) Chipotle - Nothing satisfies quite like a good burrito. Oh so good going in and oh so satisfying going out.

other gourmands on this board. 1. Wendy's for variety. 2. McDonald's french fries are better than any others I've tasted, homemade or otherwise. 3. Chipotle has the most quality ingredients of all those mex fast food places. 4. Chick-Fil-A is delicious, I just wish there was one closer. 5. Jimmy John's is fast and cheap, and the I like the bread.

1. Taco Bell- I'm really liking them lately 2. McDonalds- Love the burgers and fries 3. Wendys- Love all of their frosty selections 4. BK- Used to be my favorite but I don't like sesame seed buns 5. Subway, gotta go with the healthy option sometimes Also of note, a Sonic just opened near my house and I got near sick first time I ate them, but it was good. I should try it again...

1) Chipotle 2) Subway 3) Jimmy Johns 4) Panera 5) Burger King I don't know if Panera qualifies as ff. It definitely has the assembly line and standard fare going, but somehow doesn't "feel" like fast food.

Culver's McDonald's Chick Fil A Quizno's Mr. Quick I'm tempted to put White Castle on the list, but that would make sure that "the rest of my life" was a very short period of time.

Sadly no longer a presence in this area. I grew up in NC where Hardee's was born and where they still have many stores. There are a few scattered within an hour's drive from here (a2), and I do occasionally road trip to them. Menus vary depending on what part of the country you're in.... the South being the best. BEST BREAKFAST BISCUITS EVER... my fave: steak (it's chicken-fried), egg, and cheese. Honorable mention: Loaded omelet biscuit, and the fried pork chop biscuit. Shout out to ARBY'S, though... I just had one of those Bleu Cheese Roastburgers (with extra meat for $1.) yesterday..... DAMN that was good.

down here we have Char-Grill (4 in Raleigh, 1 in Cary, 1 in Durham) and they make genuine charcoal grilled burgers (and a lot of other stuff, the fries are awesome). No dine in, just order outside and drive-thru. I hope they catch on outside of the area - a lot of people would really prefer them. "In-and-out" has been mentioned here a lot. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan, but I have never have heard of that in reference to fast food.

I was just stating I wish Indy had a Portillos....the Italian Beef with spicy peppers is awesome. Five Guys I go to every now and then but the fries there kill me, the smallest size you can get is like $3 and you get about 6 lbs. of potatoes. I really miss Big Ten Burrito (the chimi's there are where its at). So I guess I'd go: 1. Portillos (they got all different stuff and its all great) 2. In n' Out Burger (shut the fuck up Donny) 3. Boston Market (the roasted chicken sandwiches are good) 4. Panda Express (just for when I need an Asian fix)

1. Chipotle - eat there at least twice a week 2. Portillos - worth the trip back to Chicago 3. BK - hard to beat a double whopper & fries 4. Jimmy Johns - great hangover cure 5. Arby's - unique change of pace I've heard great things about Five Guys, just haven't found one yet.

Chick-Fil-A and In-N-Out I feel bad for anyone that does not live near an In-N-Out. I have a friend in Boston that works for jet blue and some of his co-workers use their free tickets to get In-N-Out.

When we lived in SoCal, my friends were on my case to try In-N-Out. To be honest, it took me a while to really develop a taste for it, but once I did it was game-over. No better fast food anywhere. Chick-Fil-A is a solid second choice, too. I could eat at those two joints for a month straight without getting tired of either. G

1. Gotta Wanna Needa Getta Have a Bojangles. Bojangles has the best chicken, biscuits, fixins, and sweet tea. 2. Cookout- an NC original with great milkshakes. 3. Chick-fil-a. Put a Chick-fil-a sandwich on top of my head and my tongue will beat my brains out to get to it.
