| 3 weeks 6 days ago | I really wish people would |
I really wish people would take a realistic perpsecitve of the 'Denard has put up with a lot of criticism' meme. Give me a break, please. He has been a celebrity everywhere he has went. Yes, he has received some criticism, but its been a mere grain of sand in the ocean of praise and laudatory treatment he has received since he has started at UM. |

And you just bolstered a use of 'ladies' in a derogatory manner. Yes, its 1985 all over again. |

Yes and no. Be careful not to select on the dependent variable; conversations like this are also the way usages become or remain unaccepted. If we only look at the ones that have become accepted, we lose sight of the thousands upon thousands of usages that society has chosen to drop. |

I kind of like "Who will have an impact?" best. Sometimes its just best to say what you really want to say and not transmogrify it for style or simplicity. |
| 10 weeks 6 days ago | 'impactful' |
Thank you, for I cringe whenever I see the awkward 'impactful' in formal writing, which this, of course, is not. But if you read the sports columns on annarbor.com, you will see 'impactful' smattered all over those concerneing UM sports. Its shameful, and quite impactful to my reading experience.. |
| 12 weeks 1 day ago | Gotta love the traditional |
Gotta love the traditional calling up of the antiquated self-righteous internet proscription on complaining about young adults who play for sports teams. Its very aught of you. By the way, what is the elusive prescriptive formula to determine the age at which one adult cannot complain about another adult on a sports team? Perhaps, 1.5[the player's age] if the player's age is less than 25, but with a decreasing multiplying ratio as the player's age increases above 25? Does the formula change if the complainer is not anonymous? Do you mind just giving us the formula? |

But he was "back" a few weeks ago, according to him. |
| 12 weeks 1 day ago | This statement suggests one |
This statement suggests one causal factor - leadership is an issue on this team. A leader incites his team to play through 'bad' officiating, to play as hard as they can in spite of it, not to use it as an excuse. It seems we have one piece to the puzzling debacle that has been February. |

I will always want Michigan to win, but its really hard to give a shit about a team that doesnt seem to give a shit. |
| 12 weeks 5 days ago | I am no expert, but my guess |
I am no expert, but my guess woudl be that I think you could say the same thing - they have tape, and they are certainly sending what tape they have to to NFL scouts. |
| 12 weeks 5 days ago | All this "they know how fast |
All this "they know how fast he really is" is just blind homerism. I guess that while Denard is really faster than his time, everyone else is either equal or slower than their times. The point is that Denard spent the last few years focusing more on throwing, timing, reading, while the other guys focused more on running, catching, and blocking. He's really fast, but he's really fast for a guy who played QB, not for a guy who played WR or RB. |
| 12 weeks 5 days ago | So Denard is the only one |
So Denard is the only one using this stance at the combine? I'm thinking his 'slow' time might have more to do with a kid who worked for 4 years at the QB position competing with guys who spent 3 to 4 years at the WR position. That's the difference that makes a difference. Your point contains no difference at all. |
| 16 weeks 5 days ago | How about writing |
How about writing intelligible sentences. That would work also; that last one in the OP was awful. |
| 18 weeks 4 days ago | I question your understanding |
I question your understanding of the term 'subjective.' We only reach objectivity through brutal abstraction, and relevant (i.e, recent) wins is the only abstraction worth looking at. Your definition is very subjective in my opinion, which is itself, of course, subjective. |
| 18 weeks 5 days ago | So, a Michigan grad and 4 |
So, a Michigan grad and 4 years at Duke. I am guessing, then, that you are getting your PhD from Duke. Know that you are going to have a lot of difficulties in your career if you display this level of pomposity and lack of self-awareness to your peers in that arena. |
| 21 weeks 5 days ago | Come on folks, this site |
Come on folks, this site would be much more enjoyable if we did away with the childish anti-Freep requirement (I'm speaking about the local culture, not the OP, whom I respect). It takes attention away from a good topic and often quality content and makes the reader have to think about and wrestle the unpleasant memories of a past regime, the hardened days of yore, often bringing them to the fore, and thus keeping issues on life support that just want to die already. |
| 21 weeks 5 days ago | Didnt go to the account, but |
Didnt go to the account, but the tweest the OP listed remind me a lot of the analogy quips made about Denard on this site over the last few years. And many, many of those Denard quips were not as funny as those the OP listed (not that they are extremely funny either). The hypocracy here is so extreme as to be embarrassing as a UM fan. |

Having to put the /s tag is an admission that you know you didnt craft your sarcasm well enough, or you have no faith in the sarcastic acuity of your readers. Either way, like you say, it ruins it. Your post was clearly sarcastic. Or it should have been. |
| 22 weeks 5 days ago | The issue is that you |
The issue is that you actually think you are protecting someone. A lowly thread on a Saturday night on one blog speculating about adults who play on a college team with national recognition means very very little. But if you want to feel like you are actually protecting football players who need protecting from nameless commenters on a blog thread, then by all means stop discussion. |
| 22 weeks 5 days ago | Spot on. There is a bad case |
Spot on. There is a bad case of MgoEgotism around here - an inflated view of one's importance and influence. Its the internets for crying out loud. Its all about speculation. That's normal. What's not normal is that mods here, perhaps trying to justify or bolster their sense of importance, feel that things said here have some sort of broader influence, and so they must step in, save the day, be heros. Trust me, what is speculated here matters very very little. If at all. I have seen it over and over with different mods, shutting down threads discussing speculative issues that end up being true. Where there is smoke, there is fire about 90% of the time here. |
| 23 weeks 1 day ago | Haha, Wow. No. You speculated |
Haha, Wow. No. You speculated as to why they were handing out a lot of offers ("it seems like"), but you did not spectulate that they were not putting any "push" behind them. You stated the latter as fact. You may want to read your own post for crying out loud. There's one basic thing you are not allowing for - time. If the coaches just put out these offers, it might take time for them to put some "push" behind them. Let it play out a bit before you accuse them of just throwing out offers and not really trying to recruit those who were offered. Dont accuse me of being pissy by mischaracterizing what you wrote. Re-read your own post first. |
| 23 weeks 2 days ago | "There have been a lot of |
"There have been a lot of interesting offers to local kids lately and not really a ton of push to actually get them." How do you know this? A statement (or really an accusation) like this means you have insider information that allows you to compare the recruiting efforts of this staff among different recruits. Is that the case, or are you just making shit up? |
