UW 247 Mod Ruth Robbins' Opinions Regarding David Long

She posted this gem late last night.

1. Good Lord...climbing trees...sleepovers...what's next? Ring & run and prank calls? Can you imagine Bo Schembechler or Bear Bryant or Don James or Ara Parseghian doing this stuff? It's not like Michigan can't recruit on its own merits, they don't need this unseemly silliness out there representing their program. 
2. Not a flame, but why is he elite? No national titles, no super bowls, I know he's a big time competitor but what got me was the snarky little comment to the 49er organization about reaping what they sow. I think he'd leave Michigan in the dust if he could get a job with the Bears. I agree with Scoop on this one. 

But I don't see him as elite -- he's a competitor, no question, but he's a failure in the NFL and that burns him more than anything. Now Pete Carroll is elite -- he won national titles at USC and then a Superbowl and knocked Harbaugh and his 49ers out of the play offs twice. 

Nick Saban is elite. Urban Meyer is elite. Let's be more selective about who we pass out that title to.

She goes on to blame her "distaste" for Harbaugh on being a Seahawsk fan.

 

If it wasn't a failure then he would still have a job at SF. He couldn't beat Pete Carroll when it counted, that's why he got canned. He couldn't beat him and imploded...I think much of the distaste for Harbaugh comes from most of us here being huge Hawks fans :-)

Not today's Stanford but the Stanford after the 2006 season.

Also, she wants to talk about how great Pete Carroll is? Well Harbaugh took a Stanford team that won 1 game in 2006 with less than mediocre talent in 2007 went to USC and beat a team that was recruiting as well as Bama is these days.

That's another thing, Harbaugh will know how to deal with the Pac 12 when we face those teams, he coached in that conference and I can't wait to beat the hell out of those teams in the future, we'll see how Ruth feels about that when it happens and her stupid explanations.

Michigan 35 Oregon St. 7 is just the beginning.....I know the Beavers were nothing this season but at the time we had no idea what we were going to be either.

to put JH down because he didnt win a Super Bowl. Spurrier and Saban where not great in the NFL ( BY the way the highest level of football in the world) Jim won almost 70% of his games.Those 2 are were/are considered the best college coaches. He also made Stanford into a national power.  I would like to see Urban win in the NFL if you want to flip that coin. Beating Dallas and Arizona versus beating Indiana and Vandy is not the same thing. Sorry, Jim has beat the best players and coaches in the world in the NFL and ask Cleveland how easy it is to get to a Super Bowl....

1. Fuck her. She covers Washington football. While I recognize she knows a lot about failures from watching Huskies football, she has no experience with winners. Harbaugh made Stanford more relevant in his first few years than Washington has been since Drew Bledsoe. 2. She covers Washington football. They clearly can't get anyone better.
