Above-average freshman QB.
Why is that unrealistic? By definition, he should have a 50-50 shot of being an above-average freshman QB.
Oh god I hope this is sarcasm.
An average freshman QB sits on the bench and never does anything. So, yeah, he should be ABOVERAGE.
...since we have little choice and Tate will be the starter. I expect him to be an average freshman QB. If he is, we'll win at least 7 games. If he's above average, we'll win 8-11 games.
I expect 10 wins. That's rational, right?
Yes it is.
To become inseparable in Michigan lore and embark upon 2 great careers.
Kinda like Rob Lytle and Gordie Bell, or Donahue Downing and Dufek,or Muransky, Lilja and Paris
not to be injured
... to not be in jail.
Most likely to not be in a Michigan Uni come Summer Practice...
wins the Heisman
Seconded!
More realistically, I'd really like our great space emperor (of space!) to win the Ray Guy.
1.) That the play of Michigan's LBs Ezeh and Mouton would be "way above average" given some of the new and less experienced faces along the UM front 4.
2.) That Michigan will have it's first 1,000+ yard rusher since Mike Hart (2007) from the tailback spot (Minor) combined with 300+ yards rushing from the QB position.
3.) That Michigan throws 3 times as many TDs as INTs in 2009.
I truly think, barring injury, that Minor will get 1,000+ yards rushing. He will have a few games where they keep him to 60 or so yards, but he will have at least 2 games where he goes over 150. You only need to average 83 yards a game to hit 1000, not including the bowl game. He'll do it.
...you sure are impatient for a 1,000 yard rusher, aren't you? Going back to Mike Hart.....in 2007? A whole one season ago? This fanbase sure is accepting of transition...
getting 1500 or more yards and Ezeh all Big Ten.
I think that Schaffers defense last year really killed Warrans skill and strength. I expect to hear him get some All American talk and will earn First Team defense in the Big Ten.
Brandon Graham will get about 13-15 sacks. a complete freak of nature he is. Top three for Defensive player of the year in the Big Ten.
Obi Ezeh will rebound and have a solid second team defensive year in the big ten.
Wild Card: STEVE BROWN does not give up 10 touchdowns or misses 20 tackles.
Hell we dont have Trent anymore so who knows how well this defense can be
...the grammar police have a headache.
Ha, he kinda sounds like Yoda when talking about Brandon Graham. Good at defense, he is.
And it sounds like Obi is on the basketball team.
I lol'd
Big Will leads Big Ten in sacks...
Espesically if he can bring the pain similar to Alan Branch hit on Morelli(sp?).
7 games.........
How is 7 wins unrealistic? Maybe if you said 10. But, 7 is completely realistic.
Brown and Minor both run for 1000 yards.
HA!
to qualify.
Odoms has the most All Prupose Yards in the Big Ten. He will emerge as the leading kick/punt returner....save your "bad hands" crap, he will get that fixed. Field position, field position.
YES- I have scored one point!
to be even a tiny bit more effective than Jeremy Van Alstyne.
7 wins in regular season, beat tOSU, win bowl game. 8-5 with tOSU win, yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd be ecstatic if that happened. Like, just the tOSU win would probably be the highlight of my year.
Sometimes, I allow myself to remember what it feels like to beat tOSU, and then quickly I brush it away. I can't deal with the accompanying thought of the abject sadness the last 5 losses to them have brought into my life. Especially in 2006. Please, Rich, make it stop. Please. I work with a couple Buckeyes. It's awful. What makes it worse is that they aren't mouth-breathers. Although I did tell one of them not to stare directly at my diploma, lest he immediately turn into a pillar of salt at facing something so out-of-his-comprehension and beyond-his-existence that God would immediately smite him down.
Uhh, that may have veered a little OT.
lives up to his own comparison of himself to colt mccoy with a stronger arm
Terrell Pryor gets put on academic probation and OSU implodes.
I mean, I'm all for OSU losing, even Terrelle Pryor playing poorly. In fact, I would love to see OSU lose BECAUSE of Pryor playing poorly. But come on, hoping for a student to do poorly in the classroom is kind of a dick move, isn't it? I want every buckeye to perform poorly on the football field, but I'm not going to hope they fail in life.
We can show more class than that, right?
Is there really that big of a difference between hoping a kid is a failure on the football field and hoping he fails a couple classes? Let's not kid ourselves Pryor is at college for football. Failing at football would be far more devastating to his life trajectory than failing a few classes would be.
And to be clear, I hope Pryor graduates and gets his degree and all that. I just think that the potential for OMG DEATH that would ensue from him being on probation in the fall would almost be too great not to hope for.
What I'm saying is that I don't dislike Ohio State football when they're doing anything unless it's playing football. Anything off the field and they are just another human being, in my eyes. And I want to beat TP in football. I don't want us to win because he's ineligible. I want him to be on the field and healthy and beat him, fair and square.
If he happens to be hurt or out for any other reason, I still want us to win. But I won't be hoping for that.
the opening game.... I will not be ok with another opening loss to a terrible team (even though utah ended up finishing really well it still sucks)
WMU is far from a terrible team.
a team that should be below us. The fact that I have to worry about MAC teams....makes me worry.
They're also far from a Utah.
Which opening day loss was to a terrible team? App St. who won the FCS national title? Or Utah, who finished undefeated and #2 in the country? I think WMU is the worst of the three, but I agree that they are also not a terrible team.
Toledo, App state was probably the worst loss for the program. In comparison to where Michigan should have been, App St was a terrible team. You have a team with the programs career passing and rushing leaders and the #1 player in the draft. That loss hurt.
A bad loss is not the same as a loss to a terrible team. I agree we should have won that game, but until the bowl game, that team never fired on all cylinders.
Had your predictions simply been: "Win on opening day. I'm sick of losing the opener" everyone would have agreed with you. Just a little pointer.
just to append: app state won the diaa three years in a row, 2005-2007, the last being the year they beat Michigan.
For us to not fumble a kick return/punt return.
Forcier throws more TDs than interceptions
actually, that doesn't seem too unrealistic. I believe Threet threw for 9 TD and 7 INT, so I'm pretty sure it's possible for Tate to do better. In fact, it would be almost impossible for him not to do better
win 8 games and win 2 of 3 between MSU, ND, and OSU games.
we win all 3 rival games. but even if we just beat osu, i would be happy
stevie brown - second team all big ten
goes platinum.
