Survive and Advance? Postgame Snowflakes and Tex/ASU Open Thread

Submitted by bballislife22 on
Finished up a pretty sloppy game, one I consider to be our 2nd worst offensive performance of the season (Charlotte still the worst). Everything we have grown to expect to not see from a Beilein coached team (turnovers, dumb shots) we saw tonight. Defense was alright I guess, but got lucky Wofford shot just as terribly as us. However, I guess at this point in the year, any win is a good win. Pretty confident we'll be able to turn things around on Saturday. Always survive and advance. Who would everyone rather play between Texas and ASU? I don't see a whole lot of difference between the two. Both teams are coming in kind of cold.

Hopefully we will shoot better but TX looks like a physical team. We seem to have problems against physical teams. I think it will be close but I hope we can pull it out!

Bring either of them on. Our team can lose to many teams but can also beat anyone so I'll take whoever. Any team from now on will present challenges but our team has many assets as well.

Tonight was a start and hopefully there is still a lot of time in our season. Time will tell.

Now we know why Texas is so "good" at offensive rebounding.  Their shooters are so bad that their shots just clang off the backboard in unpredictable fashion, so essentially every rebound becomes a 50/50 fumble recovery.

Just because they have big guys doesn't mean it's a bad matchup.  Amir Williams did absolutely nothing against us.  AJ Hammons did basically nothing.  Size just for size's sake isn't that much of a concern, especially when we will have a decisive coaching advantage.

Look, they are going to get offensive rebounds but keep in mind.

1. All of Texas' guards are all horrible 3 point shooters. Marshall and Gilling are knock down shooters for ASU.

2. None of Texas' guards are elite at penetration. Jahii Carson is a future pro who makes his living breaking dudes off the dribble.

3, Jermain Marshall is a PSU transfer who torched us for 25 last year in our lost to PSU

4. Bachynski may not offensive rebound as well but he can score, is the best shot blocker in the nation (meaning GR3 and Caris struggle to finish at the rim) and is 7'2''. We saw what 7'0'' Kaminsky did to Morford.

We will have to trade 2s for 3s with them and get out in transition when we do get rebounds but this is a much more salvagable match-up imo.

We will the TX bigs out of the paint with our pick and roll and we will have a lot of open looks. Ridley will be worn out chasing our guards around. They might go zone tho

This Louisville game is pissing me off. Russ Smith keeps jumping into defenders going straight up or even backwards and getting calls. Meanwhile Manhatten gets mugged down low and can't buy a call.

Louisville is truly playing like ass. No one on their team can make any type of jumpshot. They just drive into a crowd, throw up some bullshit and hope for a call. It's like a really bad pick up game.
