It's total garbage. It's early August. If there is a real QB competition there is no way they have made up their minds about it. When they do decide there is basically zero chance this sort of arrangement would be used. And, even if they were to make such a decision, there is no way the employee of a tv station is getting this news before Webb, Lorenz, umbig11, Brian, etc. There are at least four levels of implausibility here.

I don't know anything about her or her "sources" either, it might be a good-faith mistake. But it's totally wrong.

that means he has lost the last 4 of 5 games he has started. Isn't it plausible to consider a QB change after the FL game? Beating teams you're suppose to beat isn't an achievement. Its beating teams that are good as your team that differentiates a winnig QB from a mediocre one.

That is a very "Not Jim" thing to do. Speight will start vs Fla- whether Peters ever sees meaningful snaps in 17 will depend entirely on Speight's performance & health.

I come at this as a HUGE Peters backer. I'm the hashtagCeiling guy. That being said, if Speight starts vs Fla & kills it, and continues to excel, there's NOTHING Peters could do to unseat him. THAT'S called 1st world problems!

That would be a terrible idea. We have a brand new receiving core. Whoever starts needs to get comfortable with those WRs by the time we play PSU. Also starting a new QB against Air Force just seems scary.

I feel like if Peters is good enough to start the next 2 over Speight then I feel like he probably gives us the best chance to win against Florida, and since I'm just an idiot behind a keyboard and Harbaugh is a legendary coach, I assumed he's figured this out as well.

that's not meritocracy. I suspect Peters will get play time once a game is no longer in doubt (in game 1 hopefully). his future play time will be dictated by his performance in game. if he's going to start, he is going to need to prove it to Harbaugh in love action.

I am gonna believe Jaime Edmonds...I have no idea if she pulled this out of her ass or someone was just giving her misinformation but she is a horrible source to spread what is clearly FAKE NEWS. We know Jim isn't going to do something this asinine, and he wouldn't announce it this early in camp to anyone.

The only way this makes sense is if there is still lingering problems with Speights shoulder and we want to rest him while giving Peters some experience (in case Speight is injured midseason).

THis take continues to be wrong. They still lose to MSU if Brady is playing all game because as long as they're close they have Lloyd Carr disease. Brady's mini-comeback was a function of Michigan's huge deficit forcing a scrap of the run-first gameplan. And they lost to Illinois because Anthony Thomas got dinged when they were up 20 and then every single thing that could go wrong did.

Harbaugh is dreaming of each player starting, playing winning.  Teenage boys are dreaming themselves winning.  Grown men dream these dreams.  Nothing is silly.  It's all too serious.

I don't accept the source, and this strategy doesn't seem very Harbaugh like, but it would sort of make sense if they really wanted to prep Peters for the future.

Like even if Peters outplays Speight in camp, I doubt if I'd want a player making his first start in what's essentially a road game, against a ranked team. You go with the experienced player no matter what. THEN you ease Peters into the role over the next few cupcake games.

But then again, this doesn't seem like Harbaugh, and there's a reason he gets paid the big bucks.
