Sparty's preparation for M
I have 20 bucks that says Dantonio is running 'the clock' again this year and spending a practice every week getting ready for Michigan..and up until 2 weeks ago, Keith Nichol was the 'Tate' for the scout team..so who is the 'Denard' now? Nichol for the fake QB run and then oh-crap-he's-going-to-throw plays, and a 'walk-on' from the track team for the designed QB running plays? Do they have any players that were of the 'athlete' category and played some QB in high school?

He put glue all over the defensive team's shoes so they'd get used to being half as fast as the offense they were chasing.
He's clever, that one.
September 14th, 2010 at 10:45 PM ^
But I have a hard time believing that merely using glue would make MSU players only HALF as fast as Denard (unless, of course, you are averaging the speed of the entire offense...carry the two...nope still doesn't make sense).
September 14th, 2010 at 10:58 PM ^
It's really strong glue. So strong they are completely stuck to the ground. They're just going to have to get used to the QB moving so quickly it looks like they're standing still. That's relativity for you.
September 14th, 2010 at 11:08 PM ^
it might be even more effective if they sniff the glue too.
September 15th, 2010 at 9:22 AM ^
they already do that
September 15th, 2010 at 11:59 AM ^
Where are they going to find that much dilithium to prepare for Denard?
September 14th, 2010 at 10:28 PM ^
Shouldn't they be preparing for Notre Dame instead?
September 14th, 2010 at 10:52 PM ^
Key word in that was "Shouldn't", doesn't mean that they are. Little brother likes to beat big brother even at the cost of a game or 2 it seems.
September 14th, 2010 at 11:12 PM ^
or illinois game to beat michigan.... tressel has lost 3 games before the michigan game in his tenure....
September 15th, 2010 at 6:26 AM ^
MSU has Wisconsin the week before us, they could be 3-2 heading into Ann Arbor if they are focusing on us. You would think even Dantonio would focus on Notre Dame and Wisconsin during those weeks and take off the weaker opponents.
September 14th, 2010 at 11:12 PM ^
I have some good friends who are Spartans, and I can tell you that they would absolutely rather beat us than Notre Dame. I can almost guarantee that dantonio has them working on something for us
September 15th, 2010 at 7:00 AM ^
you can guarantee it... dantonio game plans for michigan like its a bowl game... its almost like he has 2 or 3 coaches dedicated to watching michigan game tape... he knows that as long as he beats michigan he'll always have a job at MSU...
September 15th, 2010 at 1:54 PM ^
prefer a win over Michigan than Notre Dame.....Conference vs. Non-Conference?
September 15th, 2010 at 9:24 AM ^
Seriously. Don't kid yourselves. State fans would love that season.
"Lol! Lok ho bad we suk an we stil beet u!"
September 14th, 2010 at 11:06 PM ^
What they really should be doing is making my personalized license plate.
September 14th, 2010 at 10:33 PM ^
Given our upcoming schedule I actually wouldn't mind at all if RR and staff were using one practice a week to game plan for MSU. I'd rather lose @Indiana than lose to MSU for a 3rd year in a row...
I wonder if we can find a bunch of guys who didn't get Michigan offers and are angry about it to fill up our scout team? Maybe Ron English would lend us a few players from Ypsi for this and he could play the Dantonio role?
September 15th, 2010 at 12:25 AM ^
County Jail would allow a work-release for some of their inmates.
September 15th, 2010 at 12:30 AM ^
I see what you did there. Haha. +1 sir.
September 15th, 2010 at 12:29 AM ^
losing to the little brother isn't fathomable...Michigan 38 Little Brother 14...Raback that.
September 15th, 2010 at 12:57 PM ^
to retire the "Raback it" phrase.
Technically, he was correct. Dorsey committed to Michigan. However, he never ended up on campus, which waters down the effect of the guarantee, IMO.
Raback, care to take a swing at someone for this class? HaHa perhaps?
September 14th, 2010 at 10:37 PM ^
Gosh reading that Facebook Event's page, "Tieing their shoes like Kirk Cousins" just made my head hurt. Can we not talk about them for a couple weeks?
Honestly they care soo much about us, it's been proven. They're like closet wolverines. The sad thing is, even if we tried to ignore them, instead of going away they'd just get louder...
September 15th, 2010 at 3:00 AM ^
but it's not like I'm sitting here reading a thread on a Michigan board about how obsessed they are with US at 3 am when I'm supposed to be working...
September 14th, 2010 at 10:39 PM ^
I'm guessing they're preparing by sitting in a corner crying, while visions of a Maize and Blue flash wearing the # 16 are haunting every one of their thoughts !!!!!!
September 14th, 2010 at 10:47 PM ^
The idea seems funny until you realize that Dantonio's job really does turn on the Michigan game. Generally that fan base can live with any old result for the season if they beat Michigan.
Pretty good school, fun place, decent women, but odd ball in a big way.
September 14th, 2010 at 11:24 PM ^
Pretty good school
Er, um...
September 15th, 2010 at 9:43 AM ^
...granted Michigan is the most important game on MSU's schedule in football, for now (see MSU Basketball), but "odd ball"? Really?
Just take a look at this thread, and tell me who is obsessed? I would have thought your Spartan schooling would have sunk in! ;-)
You all are underestimating what State will bring into Ann Arbor. Robinson is awesome, but he's also been 85% of your offense in the first two weeks. We'll see.
And when Sparty beats the Irish what will it be then, that Michigan wore them out?
September 15th, 2010 at 10:13 AM ^
You have a point that we may be "underestimating what State will bring into Ann Arbor." I mean, it is really freaking scary when the MSU football team arrives in that Black Maria and marches into the stadium wearing their orange MDOC jumpsuits.
September 15th, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
...does Rumeal or Boubacar have on?
EGD... your material needs to be upgraded. By your posts, you seem to be a one trick pony when it comes to clever banter.
September 15th, 2010 at 4:29 PM ^
your going to throw 2 players out there that got into trouble after their careers at michigan were over??? boubacar got arrested and put into jail long after he was kicked off of the football team and out of school, and seriously rumeal??? your players on the other hand got into trouble while in school and while playing football...
September 15th, 2010 at 5:48 PM ^
Since I don't want to be a one-trick pony, I suppose I will travel to South Lyon and visit your mother. I hear she turns all the tricks, so surely she will have something to teach me.
September 15th, 2010 at 7:44 PM ^
Good to see you expanding your horizons. Classy.
September 15th, 2010 at 8:06 PM ^
Un-called-for.
September 15th, 2010 at 10:48 AM ^
Robinson is awesome, but he's also been 85% of your offense in the first two weeks.
Also in the first two weeks: 100% of Sparty's offense against crap teams.
September 15th, 2010 at 12:08 PM ^
...fully admit that. But somehow I think UM will get their best shot.
September 14th, 2010 at 10:50 PM ^
...if they want to win because if they don't, The UM offense is going to tee off on those little boys in skirts from Lansing.
September 15th, 2010 at 4:31 PM ^
mandarich agrees with this game plan...
September 14th, 2010 at 11:06 PM ^
They should bring in this guy:
Seriously, I was at an event in Boston where Usain Bolt came to promote Puma and they had a long track with a metal flag post in place of Bolt (like the rabbit on the fence at a dog race) that they would send speeding down the track at the same speed he broke the world record so you could run along side and see how pathetic you look in comparison. Maybe some machine like that would help sparty...
September 15th, 2010 at 12:05 PM ^
He'd still be only the second-fastest player on the field.
September 14th, 2010 at 11:10 PM ^
State is going to have a tough enough time with Notre Dame to be looking ahead to us.
September 14th, 2010 at 11:34 PM ^
Keyshawn (sp?) Martin could probably do an ok job of imitating Denard in practice, at least enough to help them develop a scheme. Granted, they'd have to use that scheme in double time to keep up with Denard, but it'd give them a jumping off point.
On the flip side, we've got Kennedy to impersonate Cousins.
September 15th, 2010 at 12:31 AM ^
I think it's just Keshawn? Maybe not. But yeah, he's the only one on their team I can think of who could run like DRob, although Denard is still faster.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:00 AM ^
Martin's a starter. Usually, your scout team players are walk-ons and freshmen being redshirted. MSU had better have a frosh who's blazing fast and can learn our offense in a week.
September 14th, 2010 at 11:46 PM ^
They aren't beating ND or Michigan this year. Saint Dantonio is about to learn, like every other MSU coach has learned, that beating Michigan about three times per decade is all he can reasonably expect. He is also about the learn how quickly the "Spartan for life" crowd turns on football coaches when it figures out that the current coach is just like the last six or seven.
State should just be happy that .500 teams get to go to bowls in this era.
September 15th, 2010 at 12:13 AM ^
State should just be happy that .500 teams get to go to bowls in this era.
They can go to bowls, but forget about winning one. Haven't done that since 2001... Last bowl game win was against Fresno State on Dec. 31st 2001. So it is 8 years and close to 9 months and counting...
September 15th, 2010 at 12:11 AM ^
obsessing over MSU? Please and thanks.
This place is slowly turning into a board full of Taters.
September 15th, 2010 at 11:33 AM ^
Maybe after beating them this year, the board's ire will turn back to OSU where it belongs.
September 15th, 2010 at 12:17 AM ^
That is all.
September 15th, 2010 at 12:30 AM ^
Who cares what Sparty does or thinks.
September 15th, 2010 at 6:25 AM ^
Apparentl we do, ALOT. Of course, the numerous "what would sparty do" threads that appear all over this and other Michigan boards is nothing more than evidence of TEHIR obsession with US.
