RichRod In His Own Words
Very nicely done video profile of RichRod. Dorrestein is pretty damn funny and the Rodriguez's have a sweet pool. Rita's nacho dip does look mighty tasty.
Coach, this loyal Michigan fan would love to spend a week at Schembechler Hall. Should I consider that an invitation?

...makes me like the guy a little bit more...
well, that and his killer offensive system.
September 3rd, 2010 at 10:51 PM ^
I know this is one video and I don't know the man, but I find it so hard to believe that so many people seem to hate this guy. I just don't get it. Never have.
September 4th, 2010 at 1:51 AM ^
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man. And I happen to agree with it fully. Maybe people are just jealous because a schmo like him has a beautiful wife like Rita. I hope and pray the old crotchety alums don't run him out of town because he seems like he's got it goin' on. Just wait for it....
September 3rd, 2010 at 10:53 PM ^
Love this guy.
September 3rd, 2010 at 10:54 PM ^
This.... is awesome. I think i should go to bed right now so I can wake up and it'll be Game Day!
September 3rd, 2010 at 10:57 PM ^
I don't know what it is. There's something in his demeanor now that's different than the first two years. He just seems way more confident. Anyone else picking up on that?
September 3rd, 2010 at 10:59 PM ^
I noticed it during some of his fall camp pressers. Definitely more confident. Maybe its because he knows his offense is going to score a shit load of points and will take some pressure off the defense. Or, maybe he's more confident in his defense than any of us believe should be reasonable ... and there's a good reason for his confidence.

This guy has shot straight from day 1. What you see is what you get. This isn't a fan base you can snow with bold predictions or gimmicks like countdown clocks at the practice facility until the game with the big rival.
He just tells what is up, absent any spin or salesmenship. I admire his grit for not resorting to baseless talk trying to buy time.
So taking how he acts at face value, you all are exactly right. He is obviously more confident.
September 3rd, 2010 at 10:59 PM ^
Yes, he is completely different. He seems happy and comfortable today. In 2008, he was terrified to start the season.
September 3rd, 2010 at 11:09 PM ^
I'm with you. I think he is a straight shooter and the first two years he had an idea of how the seasons would unfold and true to a Michigan Man did not make excuses, rip any players, but at the same time did not put any spin on the situation.
September 3rd, 2010 at 10:57 PM ^
Against Mrs. Kiffen any day. But, maybe I'm biased.
September 3rd, 2010 at 11:12 PM ^
would sit down and watch this video then--fine. If they still dislike the guy, fine. But this is a bright, genuine, and (in my opinion) appealing person who I am happy to have coaching the school where I got my degree. If he gets fired, I for one will find it very, very crushing.
September 3rd, 2010 at 11:14 PM ^
I want to give that man a hug and say sorry for anything bad i ever said about you. But win tomorrow or I'll take away that hug.
September 3rd, 2010 at 11:16 PM ^
IF he gets fired, I think that the worst part about it will be that people will forever dismiss him as a horrible coach, horrible person, and horrible fit for Michigan from the start.
I want RR to get his chance to show people that he is a MICHIGAN MAN through and through, both on and off the field.
GO BLUE!!!

I never had any doubt that things would be ok.
Now unleash the Wolverines!
September 3rd, 2010 at 11:20 PM ^
I want some nachos...
Oh yeah, and I love RR.

I'm really pulling for him to succeed here.
September 3rd, 2010 at 11:38 PM ^
My only complaint is that the video wasn't longer. No matter how this season goes (and god, I hope it goes well), I want to see that man on the sidelines again next season.
September 4th, 2010 at 12:02 AM ^
agreed. PLEASE have susccess this season. Our schedule sets up nice for us next year. I def. dont want to be starting over next year.
September 3rd, 2010 at 11:49 PM ^
Dantonio's video would be like.
I want Michigan to win just so people will shut up about RR.
Go Blue!
September 4th, 2010 at 1:56 AM ^
It would be a silent film with Dantonio trying to stare down the lens trying to strike fear into your soul. But then you laugh it off because all it takes is Mike Hart's trash talking to knock him off his game. Classic!
September 3rd, 2010 at 11:50 PM ^
It's nice for people to see this side of RR. And, yes, Rita's nacho dip looks very, very nice.
September 3rd, 2010 at 11:57 PM ^
"...you know that health care hibbity jibbity?!" hahaha
September 3rd, 2010 at 11:59 PM ^
He RUUUUNNNNSSSSS!!!!!
September 4th, 2010 at 1:42 AM ^
That was absolutely hysterical.
September 4th, 2010 at 12:05 AM ^
That vid is some pretty slick PR.

RIchRod to abandon hardworking, loyal players on UM for the NFL!!
September 4th, 2010 at 1:44 AM ^
It is really rather stunning to see how much this job has aged him. They showed a shot of him at his introductory press conference from Dec 07 a few times and he looks like he's aged the better part of a decade. I hope that the game later is the beginning of the turnaround for him and the program. Both sides deserve it.
September 4th, 2010 at 3:54 AM ^
based on the last two years here. I might disagree vehemently about whether he should be fired or not, but at least arguing about 8-16 is based on facts on the field. What I don't get are the people who are convinced he's some malevolent, slick, lying bad guy. Nothing could be farther from the truth-he's one of the most genuine, warm, open, real, uncomplicated men I've ever seen in college football. I think that those qualities are not lost on David Brandon.
September 4th, 2010 at 8:42 AM ^
i think brandon is one of the reasons he has so much more confidence. i think he knows brandon will judge him fairly and i think that is huge. i think that probably means he has been able to perform better himself and instill more confidence in the team.
September 4th, 2010 at 9:29 AM ^
I sure hope he pulls this off. Especially this year, we've seen him much more happy, much more confident, much more himself (I think).
There's no doubt he'd be a great man to have around for the next 10 years, leading our youngsters, and molding the program into something we can all continue to be proud of.
I really really hope things take off this year.
September 4th, 2010 at 10:03 AM ^
This. Man. Belongs. Here. That is all.
September 4th, 2010 at 10:54 AM ^
the haters are going to have a lot of 'splainin' to do. RR is the best thing to happen to UM football since Bo. He really reminds me of Moeller (with a drawl instead of the slurred speech).
September 4th, 2010 at 1:48 PM ^
We are entering a great era of Michigan football. This man is for real. He is a winner and he will lead us on a glorious path. Great things don't happen to great men by accident. His class in the face of failure is evidence of his character. We have the right man at the helm. Now, lets kick some serious butt today.
