Huh? The pure one or the not so pure one?
There's also another Pure Michigan commercial that advises tourists not to visit East Lansing. Just saw it the other day.
...this evening in Hawaii. Made me want to go to A2!
I've never seen that commercial - loved it! I live in Chicago, but get back to see my parents in Saline once a month. I rarely go up into AA but that commercial just clinched it, I'm going next week. Btw, Helle, you undoubtedly have my favorite avatar! I have six words for you. . .thank you, thank you, thank you.
Y U not go to Ashley's more frequently???
For the beer enthusiast, have not found a place out in Maryland that replicates Ashley's laid-back/casual atmosphere with the beer selection they have.
The places out in the MD/DC megasprawl with such selections typically have a large stick-up-their butt beer snobitude that irritates me. Don't judge me because I follow-up a $30 bottle of Chimay or an extra-hopped IPA with Natty Boh!!

Have you tried the Quarry House in Silver Spring (corner of Georgia ave and Bonifant street), 4 or 5 blocks from the SS metro station. It's beneath the Bombay Gaylord Indian resturaunt. I've have definitely put in that order there and not had any snobitude, and their jukebox is awesome.
How can you make a commercial about Ann Arbor and not have just a flash of the winged helmet or team running out in front of 110K?
Ann Arbor is already fairly crowded on football saturdays. We don't need to promote that.
They showed the golf pure michigan commercial during the masters multiple times.
I saw it here in Fort Wayne last weekend a couple of times. Nice.
I see those commercials all the time in Atlanta
No offense to Ann Arbor, since it is really nice, but you could make almost any city look good by taking a few select shots of an outdoor restaurant in good weather, a farmers market, a bridge, a flower shop, some family riding bikes.etc... I've seen tourism ads for places that I know are not anything special and they still seem really nice with the soft lens camera shots, syrupy music and good looking actors.
Lake Wobegon is the Ann Arbor of Minnesota.

and perhaps I'm biased, that's what Ann Arbor 'looks like' most of the spring/summer...it wasn't much of a stretch. We head up there on a regular basis and not just for football saturdays. It was one of the appeals beyond the education, A2 is a great city with a world class campus plinked in the middle of the city. Love that town, love the atmosphere...a lot more than many other college venues for sure.
I am glad they did the ad, because AA is one of the best things about this state IMO. But I felt they took an amazing city and made a kind of generic ad for it. A lot of the shots resonated with me because I recognize them, and if I wasn't already living here they'd make me homesick to come back for a visit. But I wonder if the ad is as compelling to someone who hasn't been to Ann Arbor before.
Example: I think they needed to make Zingerman's more prominent. That place is on the food network and other places all the time, so make sure the logo/name is visible. They needed to do some wider shots of downtown so you can see how vibrant it is and that yes, AA has a REAL downtown. And instead of having some generic guy carrying his generic bike down a generic porch, why not a shot of people biking through Ann Arbor? I hate to say it, but the slowly-opening gate was possibly the most boring shot of Michigan stadium I have ever seen. Why not have someone stepping out of the tunnel and looking around in amazement at the size of it?

Starts slow clap.

What is the over/under that the advertising agency was paid to make one of these commercials for East Lansing also, just to be fair to that other school (even though they have no plans to air it because it would be stupid)?
/joke that was not funny

God, I don't want to graduate. The things I would do to be a freshman again
Chills.
Missing A2 as well...
FWIW Pure Michigan has been sponsoring Red Sox broadcasts.
I saw it last weekend (in Connecticut) - can't remember what show.
Yeah, it comes on CNN when I'm watching in the community college. Good stuff
