the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection

Really says it all about their dellusions... |

Not a fan of asking a kid to change his number to a former legend. Again how does he establish his own identity? Say woodson ends up with 98 instead of 2 through this process...I'd rather see an honor patch with that number prominently displayed to recognize the legend but let the kid earn his own number. I'd say there's a reason so few jerseys have indeed become legendary and it's not like the dillema is going to occur every season, but Kovacs is a prime example of a kid who maybe with another season as 32 could have created his own legend. He sure became a special individual and leader from walkon status. |

what a bunch of self-righteous dicks on this forum...or just pioneer folks looking to protect their little pot of gold...whatever...sorry I didn't follow the company line..."OH wow, parking for only $20 wow that's awesome, can't wait to watch a scrimmage..." funny how the same asswagons can bitch about DB and his greed machine. |

We made it to the title game and played on heck of a game. Compared to the last 20 years, it was pretty damn exciting. It's a game played by teens and young men...doesn't derail my life at all. Would have been nice to see a win, but I feel worse for the kids than my personal needs. It's just a game in the end. |
| 5 weeks 3 days ago | agreed... |
how much do they need?? it's a spring game, the University is free but a high school is charging a twenty spot...get real. I'd rather walk a mile and a half than pay those clowns. |
| 5 weeks 3 days ago | Each situation is unique |
1-money, more specifically when and how much as dependent variables 1) money drives the world of sports with unrealistic contracts and many kids see the payday, family debts, freinds and lifestyles. It's very tangible and when agents are whispering in your ear it can be difficult to pass up. Seeing peers go and land the big contract, let's face it, athletes are competitors,if he got that I can get more... 2) Trip Welborne comes to mind. Hurt his knee and was never the same..one year in the NFL. The risk of geeting hurt really makes a kid think. If they sign that contract they are guaranteed signing bonus money and contract terms...if they get hurt in college they are guaranteed nothing. And if they are hurt while playing for Nick Satan they are guaranteed to be removed from the program to make room for a healthy kid... 3) Lewan owned Clowney...he's a mountain of a man, has cut down his penalties, controlled his temper and just keeps getting better. While he wowed a lot of scouts with his performance against one of the touted defenders nationally...losing to ohio and in the bowl left some unfinished business. Interestingly I read a study on Hs to pro prospects like lebron and Kobe...you'd think entering early would simply add years to your lucrative career...wrong...the study showed there is a biological degeneration that starts the moment you enter the league regardless of age. Factors including practice time, travel and sleep disruption, intensity and speed of play, wear and tear on the body degrades you at the same rate regardless...in fairness they acknowleged freaks of nature degrading slower than peers sometimes but essentially when your time is up, it's up no matter your age start to finish. |

Maintained the 12 point lead...this would be irrelevant conversation...it's easy to look back and have all sorts of reasons. We made some coaching errors, Louisville is equally talented, they made a run at the right time, we made a valiant comeback effort and missed some late opportunities at the free throw line which cost us how many tight games? We took lower percentage shots in the closing seconds...yeah the refs had a bad game...but factors contributing to the loss were multifaceted. Still one of the best basketball games I've ever witnessed. Crisler was rocking! we MADE it to the championship game with a team mostly comprised of contributng FRESHMEN with a huge upside following nearly two decades of struggle...compared to SMU football, Monday hurt but it could be worse. Thank you to the coaches, and talented young kids who gave their hearts for this opportunity. horford was back to work immediately. Sometimes we gain more from struggle than bittersweet success. |

When folks worry that much about what "you" are doing...they are spending less time focused on improving themself...GO BLUE, BIG GAME TONIGHT. |
| 5 weeks 6 days ago | In all close calls |
I've said this in regards to the Iowa call at the back of the endzone, I've said it in any of our own heartbreaker losses. When you count on the judgement of an official...you didn't work hard enough to win. That same call at the end of the Florida game wouldn't even make news. It's over, we won, MONDAY night championship game. WE ON. |

When Don Canham was ad he put us on the licensing map...spread the maize from coast to coast. It's part of national recruiting as much as growing the brand. |

Young people use twitter....recruits live off of twitter. It's paint on grass and if nothing else just another "change" for those who are averse to anything Bo wouldn't do to f-ing bitch about yet again...next? If it's not adidas vs nike, uniformz bs stodgy old tradition, the way you remember it when you walked five miles in the snow in June to and from school...some of your lives wouldn't be complete...it's twitter...it's free, it's here and now. Stand stagnant or move forward. |

And national exposure...the honor of being part of a final four team contending for a national title. His medical expenses paid by the athletic department as it happened in the throws of competition, he will receive any benefits afforded the team through the course of the tourney. When he heals he will play again and potentially earn millions of dollars in a lucrative pro career made possible by the opportunities provided by "Coach P" as he affectionately called him...and...he will probably end up with all the adidas gear he can possibly wear once he graduates/leaves for the NBA. If it weren't for NCAA opportunity he'd likely be working at walgreens for minimum wage or dealing drugs on a street corner somewhere at this stage of his life...so sick of this "poor athlete being taken advantage of" bullshit. He chose the opportunity to play NCAA basketball. He enjoys MANY perks like tutoring, preferential class scheduling, etc etc etc. that normal students don't...he also won't have student loans, and can use the exposure for bigger and better opportunity in life. You think people won't recognize him after all the espn replays? Get over it already. |

Is in the Final Four...regardless of Nike, Adidas, uniformz, block M size or palcement, et al...go rub a lucky rabbits foot (though it didn't work out so lucky for the rabbit?), secure your "spot" on the sacred chair/couch, whatever...meanwhile some kids are going to play basketball regardless of fashionista gripes...because guess what...it's still UM hoops...Go Blue. |

There is a Ton of money involved. Multimillion dollar coaching salaries, sponsor contributins, tv contracts etc...with subjective officiating you can dramatically change the outcomes. I guarantee Bo had some refs in his day that had enough of his ass chewings that calls went aganst him and probably cost UM some critical games. |
| 6 weeks 6 days ago | Mcgary was deserving |
Yeah the ball was fed...but he was double double how many games? Hustle, rebound, steal, block shots, he was everywhere, every game...he never stopped...as a Freshman...no disrespect, but to me Mitch was disrespected here. |

Probably because we not only had to overcome a huge deficit and had go or go home attached, they picked up the momentum through OT and played above the season of frustating losses by this same style, they overcame the season...Burke answered it for me with his statement about finding answeres why shots in the regs and tourney fell painfully short but he nails a thirty footer in the clutch. It would have been easy to lay down and accept yet another thriller loss...but they didn't. UTL will always be an amazing experience, lights, sea of maize pom poms, destroyed vocal chords for the next week and a half...living that oment for hours afterwards...tough call either way. |
| 7 weeks 1 day ago | AMAIZE-ING |
To me McGary has been all the difference in the tourney. Burke is Burke but Mitch McGary has come up huge at the most critical moments in every way possible...as a Freshman. |
| 7 weeks 6 days ago | I've mostly given up on this |
I've mostly given up on this site for this reason...if it doesn't toe the "comapny line" you get downvoted and flamebaited...bottom line it's a uniform. Light has a price. If it happened every game I'd say there was a legit gripe. But instead there is a loud underground that wants everything to revert to the llllloyd ball days and that nike is somehow going to transform our athletes. Instead of seeing the bigger picture. Some people need to get a life instead of thinking they can bitch enough to get nike shit back...fuck nike. If they wanted to stay they should have ponied up....we get nike back and the same bitches will complain about battle clownz uniformz...shut up already. GO BLUE! |
| 8 weeks 16 hours ago | HOW ABOUT... |
jerseys that get pulled on for sixty minutes as you are handing down an asswhoopin...will rip. For Burke to complain to the refs and them to turn a blind eye, apparently it's not something that happens every game. It seems like there are folks who bitch just for the sake of bitching...it's a uniform. When I was there we didn't have a 'contract' deal with some uniform supplier. You got whatever shit they put in your locker and wore the M proudly...stop bitching because you remember some good old days and like the way the "nike" gear fits over your fucking beer belly...it gets freaking old after a while. GO BLUE...sweet sixteen...the reason we care. |

as a non-revenue alum...geez what will those poor gymnasts do without their trip to Cancun...sorry, this is getting out of hand with all the revenue mongering. It's getting tough enough to justify the new seat license, and add to that doubling the prices of 'prime games' and forcing your hand with overpriced concessions..time to watch from the comforts of home...it was fun, but I can see a ton of season tickets up for grabs, mine included. There comes a point where keeping up with the Joneses becomes a futile effort in waste and bloat. Realizing that many facilities are aging and in need of repair, why do we suddenly need to rebuild everything? If I recall the entire baseball/softball complex was built on donations/external funding to aid University expenditures. The market will bear what it can, but what folks are overlooking, DB included...when I pay for my season seats, I'm one of the 103,000 at Umass. Sorry StubHub allows for bloating of sales on prime games, it always has and always will be a 'seller's market' in the big games, even when it was nothing but scalpers on the streets. I know the cost of everything is going up everywhere on everything and yet in many sectors the pay for everyone in everything is headed the opposite direction. Ultimately it is what it is, I won't be a part of the continued efforts, loyalty bedamned... |

WHAT we saw against Iowa...just endless opportunity, and from what I have seen in three games against standard/subpar defenses, Devin is in a groove and is the man for the job. Mixing Denard in at RB, SLOT, WR, QB, WILDCATISH...defense has to find him on the field at all times. With Iowa you could see the entire defense shift depending on where Denard lined up and with good reason to boot...Devin is the natural qb for this offense, Denard is too great of a man, too great of an athlete to sit on the sideline or go out without some sort of effort from him anywhere and everywhere on that field. Nothing against Denard, I want to see him go out with a win against ohio under the best possible circumstances for the TEAM...THE TEAM...THE TEAM. |
