Thanks Davy, I loved my days…

Thanks Davy, I loved my days in the AUDL and still am a rabid supporter of the league.  Always love hearing about people that support the league and the sport! And as always, GO BLUE!!

I was the Commissioner of…

I was the Commissioner of the pro league (AUDL) for years and owned the Chicago Wildfire (now Chicago Union).  Loved every second of it and had several MagnUM players on our team.  Great guys, great players.  I wasn't there when this happened, but Jim Harbaugh stopped by a MagnUM practice in either 2015 or 2016 and I'm told spent over an hour with the guys.  I loved that.

I love the comment “we still…

I love the comment “we still have 2 games left”.

Wow!  While I visit this…

Wow!  While I visit this site several times per day, I rarely post - unless, of course, there's something that simply compels me to do so.  This was that post.  Captured many of the ups and downs I've felt over 50+ years of MEEECHIGAN fandom.  Fantastic, and thank you.

Although I visit this site…

Although I visit this site 10-15 times/day every day of the year, I only sign in to comment maybe once or twice/year and it’s for posts like this.  Holy crap, I enjoyed that!!!

Although I check MGoBlog…

Although I check MGoBlog multiple times per day, I only post 2-3 times a year but had to after reading your post.  First of all, congrats to your son and the whole family on his decision which sounds like it's the best for everyone.  Second, kudos to you for handling it the way you did.  Finally, thank you for a positive and refreshing post!

Love reading all the posts…

Love reading all the posts on this thread, maybe my favorite thread in years with so many positive memories shared. I too, remember that series well and loved seeing it again a few months back. As many posters indicate, Gibson was a terror and so intimidating. I was a 10 yr old boy at the time and experienced much of the series on my baseball shaped transistor radio, including game 1 so didn’t see it.  But after listening to it, I had the opportunity to watch game 4 and I remember being scared for the Tigers because they had to face that same guy from game 1. My most vivid memories though were of Lolich in game 7 beating Gibson. That high reach at the top of his windup was so distinctive and as the innings progressed I was getting increasingly excited because “we might just beat that guy”, and did.  There may have been people that didn’t like him, but I can’t imagine anyone not respecting him as a player. RIP Mr Gibson.

Huber Beer.  A little bar in…

Huber Beer.  A little bar in Detroit at 6 Mile/Conant called Club Polski served it for $.10/plastic glass before 10pm in the early 80’s.  Terrible, but could get hammered for $2. Good memories though. . .I think.

I do a few things.  I focus…

I do a few things.  I focus on weight training and use the pace and alternating sets to get my heart rate up - which peaks at about 170 during my quick but efficient 30 minute workout.  While home during this period, I'm doing the following.

Chest - I purchased a 40 lb weight vest some time ago and do push ups while wearing it to increase resistance.

Back - I do bent rows with the weight vest.  I usually do quite a bit more so have to do more reps but am doing them with strict form and have slowed my pace to 3 second positives and 4 second negatives.  I haven't figured out how replace pull downs yet.  I live in a loft so no option to put screws in a ceiling or basement.  Any creative thoughts on what to do would be appreciated.

Shoulders - I press the weight vest overhead one arm at a time.  This is somewhat awkward given the size of the vest, but I found a way to grip it and keep it wide.  Doing so challenges the opposite oblique.  I also do side raises with a gym bag that I filled with a few things to bring it to about 15 lbs.  Again, one side at a time and I've chosen to do them seated to restrict additional body movement that would compromise the effectiveness of the movement.

Arms - For Triceps, I take two chairs and do dips with my feet up on the second chair.  I put the weight vest on my lap to increase resistance.  For biceps, I curl the weight vest.

Legs - I live in a 6 story building so I climb the stairs 2 steps at a time with the weight vest on for the first set of 5 stories, then take the weight vest off for the 2nd and 3rd sets.  If you don't have a stairwell, do standing lunges.  I also do standing squats with the vest on for 2 sets, then do a finishing set to failure with no vest.

That's it.  Love seeing all the ideas and am open to any suggestions!  Thanks.

I rarely post but this is so…

I rarely post but this is so pathetic I'm ready to blow.  Yes, refs cost us 7 points but this is the most pathetic I've seen Michigan and that includes the Rich Rod years.  Doesn't matter what the refs do if you suck, which right now we do.  Hell, we had to run a freakin' D'Antonioesque fake punt to score at all.  Fucking pissed.

I never log in to post, but…

I never log in to post, but damn!  I have now watched a total of 1 college baseball game in my life and can't imagine watching another since it could never match what I saw last night.  Well, except I can't help myself and will be watching Friday!  Btw, that was without question the most masterful pitching I've ever seen by someone not throwing it 98 mph.  Chills.

Just moved back to Detroit…

Just moved back to Detroit after years in Chicago.  Any recommendations for a bar in the Royal Oak, Birm, Troy area that will also have audio for the game?  Thanks.

Thanks for this!  I check…

Thanks for this!  I check into MGB at least 10-12 times/day but rarely post.  Felt compelled to do so here though to say thanks.  By no means am I any kind of expert, but loved the analysis and have felt similar feelings about Shea's reluctance to pull the trigger at times.  You mentioned the obvious to DPJ and there were others.  That said, I see the offense opening up little by little every game.  Feels like it could be Harbaugh getting incrementally more comfortable with Shea each game and/or a build-up to a more open offense for the osu game.  Either way, we have games coming in which we can't leave as many points on the field as it felt we did in the first half.  Btw, that leads me to asking what's up with Nordin?  Thanks again.

Excellent work young man!  Really enjoyed it.

Not sure what ECMO is

But great to hear it helped your dad and prayers to him and your family.  Awesome video!

Ok, I rarely post, but that

Ok, I rarely post, but that was seriously awesome!  I run an emerging pro sports league and watch hype and highlight videos almost daily and that was some great work.  Well done, young man!

Up vote

for that last sentence alone!

Thanks to everyone posting here.

This diary was balanced with great support info.  Thanks for taking the time.  I don't get the chance to follow BB as much as I'd like and really enjoyed the overview.  Also, thanks to all who commented.  Great discussion without disintegrating into snarky crap that many of the threads do.  Thanks to all for an enjoyable read.

Love your first paragraph

describing the lil' guy's sweetness and positivity.  It always amazes me to see this in kids facing the types of challenges he is.  Prayers and positive thoughts to the Little Victor, you, the family and all who love him.

Without question,

the best fight I've ever seen.  The icing on the cake was the respect they paid each other with the little forehead tap at the end.  Unbelievable fight.

Thanks UF. Sincerely appreciate

hearing that you're a fan and your comments.  We have a long way to go, but it's going to be an exciting journey!

I post rarely, but had to share a laugh

at the pic of Commissioner Gordon.  I'm the Commissioner of the pro Ultimate Frisbee league across the US and Canada and my last name is Gordon.  Certainly never a shortage of Batman jokes!  Ina ll seriousness, wishing the best and a safe journey to Cam.

I don't tweet

but prayers to your dad and family.

If this were Facebook,

I'd find a way to double-like that post!  Some people seem to just have a direct connection to the big guy upstairs.  Apparently, I'm not "some people".

I rarely post

and really liked Inge, but that was so good, I felt compelled to post!

Great job, I liked it.

The only thing I'd add to some of the other comments is show the play developing just a bit more.  Many of the clips started with the D too close to the QB already and didn't allow the enjoyment of watching the O-lines get beat.  Great first effort, though!

Love everything about this!

Larry gets Michigan, but Michigan is the big winner here!

That is WAY cool!

Hope your beautiful daughter gets well soon.

That gave me chills!

Awesome work.

I sorta agree,

Although I'm not sure if I have an issue with the jumpman or the size of it.  Just seems too big.

Was a great one

I'm just going to assume

each RR and Hoke year was a dog year, so we're good!

I only have one word. . .

STAY!!!!!!!!!

Best post since signing day!

Needed this bad - thanks!

My apologies

if someone has already brought this up, but I wonder if the depths of Harbaugh's approach and subsequent # of decommitments is essentailly a one-year thing.  I'm not saying that we won't see commits turned away in the future, but I don't believe Harbaugh will be going after recruits that were at the level this year's early recruits were because he won't have to.  It seems this is the year that has the most uncertainty early.  In future years, that shouldn't be the case, so I suspect we won't see this level of decommitments.

Truly excited to see Gabe fire that Cannon!

Hope he has an awesome time and prayers to him and your family.

While I check in 3-5 times a day, I rarely post, but felt compelled to here.  Awesome that you did that!  I also see that some active military are checking in.  A heartfelt thank you for your service.

GO BLUE!!!

I'll be at the Chicago Wildfire game

In Lisle, but pulling for MagnUM!

Ultimate Frisbee is awesome!

I came across this game 3 years ago and have since, gone from a neophyte to owner of one of the professional teams in the AUDL (professional league).  I even had a magnUM player on my team last year and one of M's women players (Flywheel) working with me.  I don't want to use MGoBlog as an advertisement for my personal interest in Ultimate, so won't embed any highlights, but if you don't know the game, get to know it.  It's unbelievably athletic, strong value set that every parent wants to teach their kids and played by over 5 million people in the US alone.  Awesome game.

I met Ernie about 5 years ago

at my dentist's office down on Wacker.  To be honest, I was introduced to him only as Ernie and didn't realize who it was.  We talked for awhile  and he was just a kind and respectful man.  When I told him I was originally from Detroit, he couldn't stop talking about Al Kaline.  It didn't seem as if they knew each other, he was just a fan.

I always liked him, but after that, I liked him a little more.

RIP Mr. Banks.

So much misinformation in threads lately.

This is not directed specifically at MichiganSports, but I long for the days when the credibility of the material I read is greater than a 50/50 shot.  Tom VH is a friend and was responsible for getting me to join MGoBlog years ago and while I don't post much, I've really enjoyed the blog over the years for both its information and entertainment value.  However, it now seems the majority of posts are speculation disguised as information and not nearly as enjoyable.  I'm sure someone is going to tell me that if I don't like it I can leave - and they're right.  I just hope I don't have to.  Thanks and Go Blue!

I thought being a Michigan Man

initially referred to the ideals that Michigan stood for, not that he was connected with the University at some point in the past, whether within a short or long-term tenure.  If that's correct, we don't have to forget the past, we should embrace it and appoint coaches whose value set reflect that (and you know, actually be able to coach) - regardless of whether they've ever worn Blue before, or not.

Classic cracks in the armor comment.

When a person can not defend themselves, the classic reaction is to alter the focus and put the other party on the defensive.  So, instead of defending the indefensible on his side, he puts the attention on fans and puts them on the defensive.

Sorry Brady, too transparent.  This isn't about "real" Michigan fans, it's about whether we have a "real" coach.  Keep the focus where it belongs.

Sorry, don't know how to delete

this!

It's not that the game is longer,

it's the feeling that there is absolutely no flow when at games anymore.  You just feel like you never get to see more than about 3-4 plays before there's another stoppage.  Very frustrating to be so excited for M football, see a possession growing and then have to stop again.

Haven't posted in over a year, but you just pulled me out of my

nutshell!  I admittedly don't know the team as well as Michiganman2014, so reading this was enlightening and got my motor going!  I'm now late for work but who cares, I'm stoked!

As many stated, my concern (mild) is with the O-line.  In particular, I'm very interested to see how Magnuson does with the change and am holding my breathe just a bit with Kalis.  I believe in him, but he needs huge improvement this year.  I saw a comment from one poster stating that a simplified play-set by Nuss would help the O-line tremendously and I sense it could help Kalis the most.

Damn, you got me excited for this year!  THanks MM14.

If you drink, and I assume you do. . .

I believe you need to go with "Sclerosis of the River"!

I see what you did there!

Thanks for the stat on "made up" stats!  Gave me a good morning belly laugh!  Awesome.

Wow, I can't believe they still do that!

I spent a summer in Atlanta in the 80's and remember seeing that.  I also remember the golf course at Stone Mountain, which if I remember right, was pretty fun.  Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
