I am also in that club, but my baby just turned 14. |
| 15 hours 26 min ago | We should start a support |
We should start a support group. Seriously. I have spent way too much time in the endless search for good socks.
ETA: That said, Lands End have been a good find, and they come in sizes (!!). |
| 15 hours 38 min ago | I am sure to be a thread |
I am sure to be a thread outlier here and say I kind of like the idea. Socks! I don't think the market is yet saturated for cool socks. Now, whether Burress is the right celebrity athlete to roll one out this line is another question altogether. |
| 15 hours 45 min ago | I would spend serious |
I would spend serious browsing time in an MGoBlog baby pictures thread. Yes I would. |

Wow, congrats, I never get tired of hearing news like this.

| 1 day 6 hours ago | I saw him in Meijer some |
I saw him in Meijer some months back. I try not be be Crazed Stalker when I see players, but I was so thrilled to see him out of a cast and looking normal that I was staring at him really hard trying to detect a limp. He probably shops Kroger now, terrified he'll run into That Creepy Staring Lady again. |
| 1 day 7 hours ago | The mother in me just wants |
The mother in me just wants to send him a can of Lotrimin. He and his posse appear to be sharing a very peristant case of jock itch. |
| 1 day 14 hours ago | But the thing is, the more |
But the thing is, the more specific and easily-disproven something like that is, the more likely it is to lull people into assuming he is legit. I confess, I'd think "well, the dude isn't going to lie about something so easily verified" and wouldn't google it. I like poking fun of buckeye fans as much as the next guy, but this isn't necesarily evidence of gullibility, to me. I can't blame them for assuming no one would be so ballsy & creepy as to falsely put himself out there like this. It reminds me of those creeps who pass themselves off as decorated veterans. They get away with it because people don't run to check military records every time a vet stands up at an event to be applauded. They get busted when they are unlucky enough to mention their supposed unit within earshot of an actual vet who served in it. |
| 1 day 15 hours ago | Ding ding ding. And I |
Ding ding ding. And I question whether it is cost-effective (or even possible) to build all structures in high-risk areas to be tornado-impervious. Honestly, I just don't know what kind of "conversation" you have about prevention of tornado devastation. |

Either I already know you, or TWO loyal alums are moving from KC back to Ann Arbor this summer.

| 5 days 9 hours ago | I dunno about the lifesaver, |
I dunno about the lifesaver, but my mom used to fish occasionally with my nephew's little Shamu-themed kiddie rod. She caught a crappie or walleye (I forget which) one day, large enough to qualify for a Master Angler certificate from the state. And yes, she caught it on the Shamu rod, which she never let my Dad live down (or anyone else who made fun of her for using it) |

But dilithium magic....that is something else altogether. Or so we hope. |
| 1 week 2 days ago | No, I'm not here to be |
No, I'm not here to be assigned homework. Like a CEO of a corporation, MSC may not be involved with the day-to-day operations of any particular unit, but that doesn't mean she is not in charge and accountable. The Regents Proceeding are just one example of that, perhaps not the best evidence but that which is most readily accessible to the public. FWIW, I am sure Graham Spanier wish more people shared your view, because then he'd still have his job. |
| 1 week 3 days ago | While I can see places where |
While I can see places where the University could be leaner, it's reasonable to point out that the U doesn't just create administrative positions for fun. The University is complex and the expectations on it are substantial. The university is a city unto itself. I also think most people would be surprised by the kinds of compliance and reporting it is required to do by the Feds, state, accrediting agencies, college guidebooks, the media, granting agencies, and so on. |

Take a look at Regents Proceedings. The President of U-M is head of the entire enterprise. |

I really loved that you dedicated some time to Corey Person's mid-circle dancing. |
| 2 weeks 6 days ago | The fact that the NCAA isn't |
The fact that the NCAA isn't on this--and that the only insurance they offer is apparently pretty hard to collect on--makes me even madder at those STUPID "think of us as a spirit squad" ads they ran during the basketball tournament. Protecting student athletes my ass. |
| 2 weeks 6 days ago | Well, you might want to |
Well, you might want to consider whether it was that "NICE TITS" t-shirt you were wearing. |
| 3 weeks 1 day ago | I have seen Mr. Stauskus |
I have seen Mr. Stauskus eating at Panda Express quite a bit lately. How about I just ask for the shirt off his back next time? It'll be big, sure, and it won't have the #11 on it, but hey. |
| 3 weeks 1 day ago | Yeah but once they put those |
Yeah but once they put those baby polar bears on exhibit.... I saw them last weekend and they are SUPER CUTE. Also they have a HUGE MF crocodile they're going to be debuting soon. They took him out of the wilds of australia because he was eating cows. For real. |

Someone on facebook posted something commending his bravery for outing himself as a member of the Washington Wizards, a fact he'd been attempting to keep hidden from friends and family alike |
| 3 weeks 5 days ago | Wouldn't this have been Tate |
Wouldn't this have been Tate Forcier's year to enter the draft? In a year when QB talent was pretty thin? What a horrible waste of potential. |
| 4 weeks 14 hours ago | About the chip on your shoulder.... |
... I hope it didn't create an obstructed view for those fans who were sitting behind you. There are always going to be students who are ill-served by a change in policy, and I am genuinely sorry that students whose situation mirrors yoursmay be the effected ones this time. But FFS, does this justify taking a swipe at those students who work at OTHER kinds of jobs besides your "real" one? Or at students who, for whatever reason, don't have to work? Yes, there are students who have wealthy parents, or prescient MET-buying grandparents, or a kickass scholarship, or a job that isn't bartending. Your sanctimonious quip about "real jobs" and "real responsibities" makes it sound like they're all spoiled brats, and that is just not true. |

I realized this morning that my take on this development would be completely different if Lloyd Brady were still a student. |
| 4 weeks 1 day ago | See my comment below--it |
See my comment below--it doesn't matter that the president wouldn't teach, do research, mentor junior faculty, or any of it. I think you invite losing the support of faculty if the president isn't academic. We have business acumen in spades on the Board of Regents and in the CFO area. The President needs to be an academic type, for balance and for credibility. |
| 4 weeks 1 day ago | I'd axe some of the people |
I'd axe some of the people off the list right away based on their academic background. I think at a school with Michigan's academic prestige, you HAVE to get someone who has been in the faculty ranks. Faculty have to feel like the president is "one of them" even if 99% of the job has the President doing things that aren't that academic or faculty-like in nature, even if the person hasn't been in front of the classroom or in the lab in decades, and never will be again. IMO, one of the reasons that Teresa Sullivan was well-accepted at UVa is that she is in nearly every aspect of her person "a faculty member who happens to be an administrator." She walks the walk, the talks the talk, she even dresses more like a faculty member than an administrator. That stuff matters. It may be also why she rubbed the Board the wrong way, but I am certain it's how she got the campus to rally for her so hard when they tried to can her. Having an faculty background is no guarantee that the faculty will accept you, but not having one is asking for trouble IMO. I know or have worked for a number of the people mentioned and I wouldn't begin to speculate who might be or should be tapped....but I will say that I think the faculty credential thing is pretty absolute here. |
| 4 weeks 2 days ago | Help me understand this |
Right now, rows in other sections (ive never been in the student section) seem full WAY before they really are. The only way you know there's a hypothetical place for you there, once it gets that full, is that your ticket says so. Everyone has to make way because your ticket says they do. |

| 4 weeks 2 days ago | I don't know what all the |
I don't know what all the motivations are behind this, but I'm sure it helps the ticket office not have to deal with all the strum & drang of people wanting to sit together as a group, unhappy with where they are vs. where they should be, etc. I've overheard many a conversation at the ticket office along these lines. |

It sounds like the AD needs to get serious about line jumping. Not sure how, but they can't let dbags cheat the system. |
