When the firing of RR was announced, someone posted that his FB status was something to effect of "so long DickRod!"  I don't he was too tore-up about the dismissal.  I know he's still a "kid" but that kind of attitude might not endear him too much with the new staff, either.

I do hope he is as good as he says he is, because this team needs a star RB.

I hope he is as good as he thinks he is, but he has the wrong attitude as it was posted when Rich Rod was fired. Everyone else was talking about how excited they were for Michigan and the team, and Cox was saying he hopes he gets  a a chance to play. I do too, though and he turns out to be a great player.

The toughest sell isn't to the fans... it's to the players. So far, the players seem to love the move and that's what's most important. I'm supporting this guy 100%.

btw. If you haven't ckecked them out already, take a look at Hoke's interviews on Youtube. He seems like a great guy and most importantly, a knowledgeable coach. Also, take a look at his Top Ten on David Letterman. He's a good dude...

Darryl Stonum, junior WR"We're happy to have a coach now. We're happy with the decision and we get the chance to see him tomorrow so we're anxious and excited to meet him."He's a Michigan man. He coached here from '95 to 2002. He (Brandon) talked to a lot of former players, former coaches, people who know him and they all said he's a great guy. He's a player's coach and he's a great pick. He's a great fit."

Michael Cox, redshirt sophomore RB"I think he will do great here. He (Brandon) was just talking about a lot of the old players who used to play here and how he (Hoke) was a great guy, great coach and they still talk to him to this day. They say nothing but good things about him."I'm happy, and hopefully when they (new staff) come in I can just show them my talent and get to play."

Jibreel Black, freshman DE"Everyone was waiting to see what the meeting was going to be about and the AD (Brandon) just came in and told us Brady Hoke was going to be our next coach. We were very excited about that when he made the announcement. Everybody got up and gave a big cheer. We've been waiting for a new coach and we've finally got one. We got a leader back."We're ready to get back to business. It was hard to operate, not knowing who you're coach was going to be, but now you have a head with a face so you can go to work."He's a Michigan man and that's real important because we want someone to come in where the atmosphere's not new to him.

"Kenny Demens, redshirt sophomore linebacker"We were happy. We were just getting ready to get back on the map. From what everybody tells us he's just a great guy and we're looking forward to meeting him. It's big to have a guy who has the natural love for Michigan."We know that he's a defensive guy and that just struck me right off the bat. I'm happy. From this past season, the past three, the defense hasn't been doing good and with him back on staff that gets the flavor back in on us."

Mike Martin also has one, but it is long.

Assuming it's true that former players didn't really support RR (I don't know that that's true, but that seems to be the consensus from reading this Board)...

I hope those same former players would make it a point to return to campus to talk to the current players and encourage them to stay.  (I'm assuming that that's all consistent with NCAA rules...)

I'm also hoping that one of the many Michigan players that will be starting playoff games this weekend make a point of identifying themselves as Michigan players and give Hoke a shoutout.  Don't know if the players will care about that, but it will make the Boards go wild.

Notice how these are all Michigan guys or Stonum (who was largely recruited by Carr)... so let the spin begin?

Also, Cox really? Of course he is happy about RR being gone. A sophomore was playing over him because he had the kind of attitude displayed in his FB status toward the RR staff. That is no surprise.

Koger

"Everybody started smiling," Koger said. "We didn't know what to do. But somebody started the slow clap and we all just followed in."

Woodson

"I'm excited for Brady Hoke and even more excited for Michigan. I'm glad this process is over and we can begin to restore the tradition and respect that was once Michigan."

Pierre Woods

"I hope the guys are happy to have a coach that really understands Big Ten football, no disrespect to Rich Rod."

Thanks for sharing this article. This is incredibly important, and it's great to hear that the players, at least based off of these quotes, are behind the decision.

I'm very excited the current players like him.

As for the old players that didn't support RR and the program while he was there, fuck them. They can go to hell and be OSU fans for all I care. I have so much less respect for them. Their support now is laughable...

EDIT: I've expressed my opinion to several former players face-to-face, in a more polite manner of course.

From JB Fitz:

"Just everybody buy in," he said. "I think everybody realizes that.

"The first time (in 2007) it didn't go as well, because everybody wasn't really buying in. People were looking out for themselves a little bit. But the chemistry is real good right now. And everybody's excited, everybody's ready to get started."

I think that is a huge deal.  If there is internal peer pressure to keep the team together, 2011 could end up being a very good year on the field.

From what I can gather from those I know in Ann Arbor Brandon has handled this much better than Martin.  He's orchestrating this (which doesn't mean he can manufacture the positive comments, just use them to the program's advantage) while Martin did no such thing.  It's damn smart because despite the "woe is me" attititude that had seemed to have taken over, Michigan has a lot of family strength to tap.

"To any Hoke haters, ask any former player who played at Michigan from 1995-2002 who their first choice for head coach was, 95% of them would say Coach Brady Hoke..and the other 5% never saw the field..An unreal guy,a real players coach, not someone who's wants to change tradition, someone who just wants to win games, they right way, the MICHIGAN WAY I just wish they would have hired him sooner."
