My family has something…

My family has something similar to this and it's great. It's more in central Michigan than it is "up north" but other than that essentially is the same thing. It's been in the family since the 1980's and growing up was a huge part of my childhood. Now as an adult I love it even more. One key for us is that it's only an hour and a half from home, so it's reasonable to drive up for a weekend but also far enough to feel like I've gotten away. You're right to think about the extra work, it seems like every year something needs to be repaired. For us, it's been worth it.

Yes we are

I coached McKenna while she was in high school, and I can say with confidence that she's going to do an amazing job. She's an excellent leader and will do everything in her power to ensure that the MMB continues its high standard of excellence

Special Teams

I'm a little surprised our special teams is a B. Has be because of Hagerup.

Also, its tough to see that we dropped a to a 5 star on the 6 star scale, but I notice that Notre Dame did too

Grantland Rice

I read somewhere that they named it after Grantland Rice, an early 20th century sportswriter

Try it again, it's up.

Try it again, it's up.

Class

Instead of by class, they're by division. So they take every MHSAA school who will have track as a varsity support, then divide that number into 4 even groups based on enrollment. The rankings are listed by the division their school is in

What is this?

Ok so what is this site exactly? Any clue what it does or how it comes up with it's tweets?

Rehab

I was at the scrimmage Saturday at the Big House, they had Demens, Woolfolk, and  Floyd rehabbing with one of the strength coaches by walking up an aisle of the stadium, usually all the way to the top, then they'd walk across to the next aisle and walk all the way down. They repeated this around the entire stadium. When they walked by me about 3/4 the way around, the players were ready to be done with it. They ran a few times up the stairs, but for the most part just walked them.

Fred Schaus? WVU Basketball

Fred Schaus? WVU Basketball coach. Never heard of him

Penn State

I like Penn States draw a lot better than ours. I'd rather play Temple then SDSU over Tennessee then Duke.

Call me The Dude

I'm drinkin some White Russians tonight.

Why?

There are way too many threads on all this, but all the titles pretty clearly show that they're about Ohio State. A label isn't completely necessary I don't think

Fine

But did the FBI tell him after the original email (April 2?) or after the email that said to keep it quiet (April 14?), or in December? Tressel should have followed up with his administration as soon as he responded to the original email if he thought that the information was in any way credible

The scandel

I prefer the scandel itself. I find the apologists ignorance unbelievable and somewhat annoying

Comments

Those comments are pretty ridiculous. They somehow think they're getting screwed in all this, while the rest of the country thinks last nights press conference was a joke and the NCAA should bring the hammer down. I can understand being biased towards your team, but at least try to have a little common sense

My apologies

Given the qualifications listed by the poster below, I retract my questioning his resume. He obviously is deserving and should get in.

There are around 20 coaches in the NFL HoF, my assumption was that the College HoF was just as exclusive, however that's clearly not the case (this is not a criticism, trying to explain before I get negged to Bolivian). Given that, I again agree that he should be inducted

Lloyd a HOFer?

Saw this and was a little surprised to see Lloyd on the ballot. I guess I don't know how the selection process works, I see there's a huge number of candidates.

I mean no disrespect of Lloyd, but I don't view him as a Hall of Famer.  What's everyone think? Is he worthy of induction?

True

But I've read (I think from Simmons) that this is "presented by 30 for 30" or something like that, so I think we can expect the same quality and presentation style

That was heartbreaking. I too

That was heartbreaking. I too could use a posbang right now

Not the first time it's been

Not the first time it's been "stolen" and it won't be the last. There was a thread just a few days ago about it being used on a different site, Rivals or Yahoo! I think

Wow, a Rounders reference?

Wow, a Rounders reference? And a poor one at that. Needs to work on that Russian accent

Agreed

Instead of censoring players, how about teaching them to be responsible?

Impressive

Posts like this make me question whether or not I'm smart enough for this blog. Then I remember posters like The Knowledge exsist and I feel slightly better about myself...but only slightly

I think Iowa and Illinois are

I think Iowa and Illinois are toss-ups that we really need to win. I'm saying 8-4, though it's really way too soon to tell

Losman

Losman went 8-5 and then 5-7 while completing 57% of his passes in his 2 years as a starter at Tulane. Not exactly an amazing college career.

Had some Sam Adams

Had some Sam Adams Revolutionary Rye Ale at a bar. I didn't hate it

Hollowell

Edwards finished 7th overall at this meet. For what it's worth, Delonte Hollowell beat all of them and finished 2nd, running .11 faster than Berkely

Why?

I've never been able to understand why people find amusement in writing annoying posts like this.

Great post

This was hilarious, thanks for the link

To me, this is interesting,

To me, this is interesting, but I don't think it's automatically an indication of future success or failure. Recruiting at Michigan is a huge difference compared to BSU or SDSU, both in the prestige of the school your recruiting for and the competition your likely going up against.

Text

How does anyone find out what texts are sent between recruits?

BABIP

Wow, there are just way too many baseball statistics for me to keep track of.

I' ve gotta vote no on this.

I' ve gotta vote no on this. Our helmets look great as is

Coaching

Sometimes, being a guidance counselor and a coach are one in the same. These college kids have problems and any coach worth a damn would want the athlete to feel like they could turn to them for help. They certainly can make these connections with coaches of the opposite race, but the initial level of comfort the athlete would feel may be higher if there is a coach on staff they feel they have more in common with. They're probably going to have a closer relationship to their coaches than some on campus group. By having a more diverse coaching staff, it can help connect with the diversity of the team

Quick Google Stalk

Tamani has his own website...

http://tamanicarter.com/

It's no qbforce, but its got a little bit of info about our newest Wolverine

Complaints about DB's

Why do people complain about how many defensive backs we're recruiting/taking in this class? Didn't people watch our pass defense last year? We clearly need all the bodies we can get in hopes that one or more of them develop into the kind of player we need to be successful. Not that Christian, Talbott, etc can't be those players; but depth is a major issue here

Offers

Don't forget that offer from Youngstown State! In all seriousness, I'll take almost and DB outside of Dave Brandon at this point

This might be a little bit of

This might be a little bit of a simplified view. There are many great academic institutions around, including Notre Dame. Hell, we all laughed (or at least I did) when Myron Rolle chose FSU for their academics and he ended up a Rhodes Scholar

An interesting goodbye

His goodbye message is kind of all over the place. He lists the reasons he's a victim, but then says he isn't playing the victim card. I do like his approach about others learning from his mistakes, and wish him the best going forward. Sounds like there is no ill feelings towards Michigan, although I'm sure there must be some.

I'm not surprise that Tate is gone, but I am disappointed. After reading the Detroit News interview, I thought maybe he'd finally gotten things figured out, only to hear a few days later that he would be missing the bowl game. Hopefully he does get things figured out wherever he goes, and can continue to show that moxie that we had all grown used to

Have to agree, luv2tha9s

Have to agree, luv2tha9s rosters are the best PS3 roster there is. Still, I find myself making a change or two to Michigans roster, but it is far and away the most accurate out there

Yes

They promoted their OC, David Shaw

Sad state of affairs

It's pretty sad that we're left hoping for a 24 year old kicker to come back to football and save our special teams

What's your deal?

What's your deal?

3 year records

Ok, but SDSU playing the MWC and BSU in the MAC is far different from the Big 10, though the talent levels are also different. I just don't see how you can compare the two

+1

This summed up my thoughts almost exactly. Solid solid post

Exactly

This is exactly right. And I agree, I've got to get on board. I'm certainly not going to spend the next few years bitching about the coach. Hopefully he grows quickly and we return to our winning ways. It just kind of pisses me off that Rich Rodriguez didn't get the same patience/reception that it appears Hoke will get, but I suppose I should instead be happy that people are behind the new coach and just move on

Where was all of this when

Where was all of this when people were constantly badmouthing Rodriguez for 3 years?

I agree, but can't he grow

I agree, but can't he grow elsewhere? I didn't think Michigan was a job that go to grow. We've shown by firing our past coach after just 3 years that we aren't interested in waiting for growth

ESPN

On ESPN's front page off to the right, their story headline reads "Coach: Michigan's Robinson stays?"....at first when I read this I thought it referred to Coach Greg Robinson and immediately flipped out. Then I opened the article and it was basically this information from Denard's high school coach

Cosign

This may not be popular opinion amongst us fans, but I completely agree. I hope he stays, but he should do what he feels is best for him
