OT- Nintendo Classic Edition to be released in November

Submitted by ShruteBeetFarms on

Nintendo is releasing a new classic edition console in November. It's supposed to retail for $60.00. It will contain 30 games that you probably use to love as a kid. It's probably been two decades since I have played video games, but I will splurge for this. The pic below shows the console fitting into the palm of your hand. The games included are:

Too bad "Maniac Mansion" isn't on the list, if it was I'd buy it.  Ah hell, I'll probably buy it anyway even though my old Nintendo still works like a champ.

it's a nice option, but i still have my original full size NES, and if i wanted to actually play any games, an emulator + usb controller is pretty identical experience. but it's an interesting thought, which 30 games i'd include. I'd swap out trash like SMB 2 and balloon fight (wtf), but i'd have a hard time deciding between the dragon warrior series, contra, battletoads, and crystalis (anyone else love this?) overall, some very good choices. They picked the correct mega man and double dragon, for instance

I can't start a new thread on mobile, but Fred Jackson is talking to Anderson Cooper right now. His nephew is one of the victims from the shooting today in Baton Rouge. Prayers out his family.

RBI Baseball? Baseball Stars? Double Dribble? Arch Rivals? Wow, looking at that list and of all the other games mentioned (in addition to Atari, Sega, Coleco, and Intellivision) I'm realizing the absurd amount of time I spent playing video games. And that was only a fraction of my youth. Perhaps I never slept.

If it doesn't have:

1. Ocarina of Time

2. Mario 64

3. Super Mario World

4. Link to the Past

I have zero interest.

That's a few good games fluffed around the edges with crap.

Edit: ah hell, I'll probably get it just for SMB.

Did anyone play Basewars? It was baseball with cyborgs. You could fight and kill opposing team players, arm your squad with tank treads, swords, and machine guns, and, oh, it was a pretty solid baseball game too. I've always wondered why this one doesn't get more discussion among retrogamers.

I mentioned to a friend I thought to make the games truly authentic, they need to attach a cartridge like accessory you have to blow into and across to get the games to work right.
