I'm sure they are thinking these things, but if you're part of a team your failures are your teams failures. But you NEVER EVER throw your teammates or leaders under the bus....
If that doesn't make sense, think about the bro code... Don't throw your bro under the damn bus.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Why? Because they are||
Why? Because they are supporting their coaches, AD and school? If your Son/Daughter/Wife/Brother/Sister/etc. were performing poorly, would you abandon them and say "They suck!"? This team and their coaches, in their minds, is their family. They spend everyday together year-round, working out, watching film, being roommates.... I would be concerned if they were turning their backs on each other and their coaches...

Brandon will be canned by the end of the week. The outrage on twitter and the news is going to crush him. This is really bad publicity for a top 10 University with a medical campus. There is no other move that can stop the storm of bad PR other than a firing of the AD. People aren't blind, he tried to lie and got told to "F*ck Off" by the medical staff!
Schlissel is probably in his office right now urging Bates or Manuel to come to UM, at least I hope he is.

I know we are all now hoping that he will come on and resign. but it's not going to happen. So let's not watch it and say we did...

Tressel won 4 National Champioships at Youngstown... Not a good comparison. Although Hudspeth has had good success, he is not even remotely up to Jim Tressel's pre-OSU resume.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Don't need to research, I can||
Don't need to research, I can tell you what these guys all did:
Meyer - Undefeated at Utah, 12-0 and BCS win.
Tressel - 4 National Championships at Yougntown State
Kelly- 2 National Championships at Grand Valley State
Dantonio- Wasn't amazing at Cincinatti, he's an exception.
Whomever Michigan grabs, has to be a home-run this time if they get a current-HC. A coordinator gives you an out if they don't succeed. I think it will be far more damaging to take 3 HC's in a row that failed than trying to get a hot Coordinator.

Except Dantonio, he didn't outright dominate.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||All of those coaches you||
All of those coaches you named won National Titles or Conference Championships in dominating fashion at those lower levels. No one available right now is of that caliber.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||You're so sure, so do you||
You're so sure, so do you have a REALISTIC name you think warrants a Michigan hiring? I see possible up-and-coming HC's around, but none who have won BCS games or anything meaningful becoming available. Petersen is at UW, Franklin at PSU, Cutliffe (sp.) is 60 years old, Miles is 60 years old, Hudspeth is a Sun Belt Coach. I don't see anything worth the risk at the HC level, but someone like Roman, IMO, warrants a good, long look: success as OC at highest level of college and the pros, learning from a good coach, etc. I'd take my chances on Roman before getting someone in the twilight of their career or have only proven themselves on a Sun Belt/MAC/WAC/etc. level.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||I think it's fair game to||
I think it's fair game to suggest coordinators, because there will be no hot-commodity HC's up for grabs after this season. I haven't heard anyone suggest one that will be a sure slam-dunk hire. So unless something unexpected comes along, a up and coming coordinator will be the only choice, or pull from the FCS/D-II levels.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Roman||
I haven't heard anyone mention Greg Roman, from San Fran (Jim Harbaugh). Connection to M is through Jim, Offensive Minded, he's a hot-commodity right now. Kids would love the NFL roots. Could work...
M might only be a stepping stone to the NFL, like for Harbaugh, but he may leave behind another David Shaw-type like Harbaugh did.
|4 weeks 12 hours ago||These coaches obviously care||
These coaches obviously care about each other and the kids, and are a close-knit family. They also clearly believe they can band together and get this done. But, they need to get it done on the field... I have no doubt that if they could instill their passion into the kids and get them to show that same passion in a game, they would be pretty good. They haven't, though.
I have supported Hoke and Co. and still hope he gets it turned around, but he needs to DO IT, and fast; the media is starting to smell blood in the water. The players are not displaying a passion that the coaches are displaying. I don't see helmets being slammed, don't see walls being punched, nothing when the players were heading up the tunnel after this loss. There needs to be a fire and intensity when playing this game. Pads need to bang, helmets need to pop, and spit needs to fly. Norfleet shows that intensity, but who else does on a consistent basis?
I'm going to support these guys this season through everything that happens, for good or for ill. But when the season ends, if we are not competitive against better teams, it's gotta be over for this staff. Improvement needs to be shown. I'll miss them if they go, though... Mattison and Hoke do things off the field the right way, but sometimes and unfortunately the good guys don't always win on the field.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Time||
I'm so disappointed in Nuss at this juncture. Every pass he calls is play action. Every. Single. One. I understand he's trying to simplify the offense for the QB's, but we need a one-step or three-step pass game to take advantage of some matchups I'm seeing in underneath coverage. We are too talented at WR/TE(Butt) to not be utilizing them in the quick game. Also, the tempo on DG's last drive was infuriating to say the least. Week 4, you should be getting in the swing of things and have your 6, 4, 2 minute offense in and be able to no-huddle. I've coached some pretty bad teams in my life, but all of them had no-huddle and had the offense going enough to be competitive by our 4th game (I know HS offenses are a lot less complex, but still) and scoring points.
I've supported Hoke since he was hired, thought he was going to deliver us back to prominence. I still think there's a chance this season, albeit microscopically thin. Now it's time to nut up or get the hell out of Ann Arbor. Win the B1G or beat both OSU & MSU, Hoke or pack it up. The kids look so uninspired and I watched them go up the tunnel and I didn't see any helmets being slammed, no walls being punched, no emotion. I think the kids are losing hope and spirit. We'll see in B1G play, but it looks bleak.
I pray I'm wrong and stuff gets squared away and back on track...
Oh, and Brandon can get the hell out whether Hoke turns it around or not.

That sound you just heard was Funchess' PCL/ACL popping, and our season flying out the window.... This is a fucking disaster. Can we not have good things? I seriously thought we would come in and make a statement. I try to be calm and not a naysayer, but this is really terrible.

I saw an inside zone with a built-in Norfleet end-around. Didn't hand it to Norfleet, but it will show up next week or soon enough. That should make whoever wrote that article on the inside zone complimentary plays (Ace?) happy.

3rd offensive play of the game:
3rd and 5 from the App St. 25 yard line...
Jake Ryan blitzes up the middle and sacks App St. QB, forcing a rolling/bouncing fumble that ends up hopping into...
Brennan Beyer on the fumble recovery, takes it to the house easily from the 25, ushering in the 2014 Michigan defense that is a force to be wreckoned with.
(A pick-six happens later in the game as well, taken to the house by Raymon Taylor, 74 yard return)
This D will be exciting, can't wait to see it in action on Saturday!

Look at the season as a whole: took a team of players he didn't recruit, an offense he doesn't really know and put up a great offensive season. Hate him all you want, but the dude has sparks of genius.

It's my opinion that all OC's and DC's at the NFL and BCS level are football savants. You literally have to be in the 99.9th percentile in coaching to reach those heights.
|8 weeks 6 days ago||There was no need for the QB||
There was no need for the QB to identify the MIKE. All the players who were in pass pro we're communicating the MIKE amongst themselves. Only the people who are actually blocking a pass rush actually NEED to know where the MIKE is. While it's good for the QB to know where he is, it's not essential.
