I just don't buy this. The committee (Hocutt) made pretty clear that he thinks Wisconsin and Penn State are in a lower tier than the top 5. That with a Clemson loss tomorrow puts us in I think. A Colorado win would have been a sure thing for us, but I think we make it even with a Clemson loss.

You Only Live Twice

When we beat Colorado, it was with a healthy QB, for the majority of the game, until Liufau went out.  I watched last night only long enough to see they didn't have much offense without him, and then when they put him in at the second half?  I turned it off.  WTF putting him in the game, is his foot broken?  Felt bad for him.

Also, can't join all the doom and gloom because we're only going to the Orange Bowl.  I hate what happened in Columbus and only get angrier every day, but I can't change it.  All I can do is get behind this team and maybe think about getting to Florida.  Besides I love Miami Beach.

I just dont get this. See this over and over again. How can there be that much drop off at the second and third strings that when these guys get in there, they cant even complete a 5 or 10 yard slant pass in the flat. Let alone get it within arms reach of the receiver. Give these guys more reps and have them work harder. Looking at you O'Korn and Morris. I agree with the whole encourage one another idea but you don't want buddy buddies out there looking to pat eachother on the ass. You want to beat one another out. It needs to be sneaky and silent knife in the rib mentality to take what you have(position on the field) but yet I'm on your side and with you all the way brother in every other aspect of the universe. That's your recipe for success. I cant stand when I see guys like Speight and O'Korn basically making out with one another on the sideline. I want to see professional ass kicking assassins next year and in this bowl game. No room for softies. JT Barrett isn't a softy.

Disagree. The committee "valued" our Colorado win higher (they were 8th going into last night) and thanks to them forgetting to show up (shades of Tennessee 1997 for us old-timers) that win just got a LOT less impressive.

We need a Clemson loss (unlikely) and an ugly B1G 10 championship game (unlikely only in that it would benefit us so it's therefore not going to happen).

I'm afraid we're out. Thanks Colorado-fucked us in 94. Fucked us in 16.

that everyone is forgetting is the committee had UW and UM close. That was before UW played in their conference championship game destroying UM's best ooc opponent. And don't forget UM has 2 losses. I don't think there are any scenarios left that gets UM in the playoffs. You guys had a great year, and harbaugh got everything out of the players he had. In the short term this was the year UM should have beaten OSU. You can say all you want about bad officiating but you can't turn it over @ your opponents 1 yard line. That was the game Imo. You guys lose a lot of players for 17. UM has had some bad luck timing wise. You get the right coach but at the same OSU's recruiting has gone through the roof. I still think you win 10 games next year. With how Meyer and staff are recruiting we may end with the best class in history. The next 2-3 years could put OSU on the same level as bama in terms of talent. Right now we have 5 5 star players committed and have a good shot @ tufele, Marvin Wilson and Akers among others. Okuda has been a silent commit since June. That's 6.
Trust me being a OSU fan since the early 70's, I know disappointment. Harbaugh has the program going in the right direction yet I see him going back to the league before he hangs up his whistle at some point.I'd like to see UM play a sec team in their bowl game. Good luck.

That's not how it works. We still may have scored a TD on the following possession and stopped them just the same. Doesn't mean we couldn't and shouldn't have scored on that current possession. The fumble at the 1 and not stopping Samuel were the two biggest blown plays by us

Absolutely true. OSU would be playing today in Indy and we'd be sitting at #3. It would've been interesting after last night though. We'd probably be sitting here wondering if we might get pushed out of the playoff with Washington blowing CU out like that.

to the fact that when you don't control your own destiny, someone else will do that for you.

I don't think we make it.  Clem's son seems to take care of business in a game like this, nomatter how close.  I'd like to see the Team do like last year and continue to put in the work and look sharp in the bowl game.  I think that "last look" is going to be big going forward towards signing day and spring ball.

There really doesn't seem any way we make the cfp. Even if Clemson somehow loses to a thoroughly mediocre VaTech, something else will pop up to cfp-block us.
So, HOW do we get to the Rose instead of the Orange? Any path at all? I think the one path is Clemson does actually lose, but the B1G champ jumps us...
Which is more ironic, that or Liufau getting knocked out with an ankle right when we need him?
I'll leave that for the cunning linguists & philosophers...

USC is already in the Rose.

  • Washington is in the playoff no matter what happens today given their margin of victory last night.

Colorado will not go over USC for several reasons:

  • Colorado was BLOWN OUT by Washington.
  • USC beat Washington easily on the road.
  • USC beat Colorado head to head.
  • USC is on an 8 game winning streak.
  • USC has a much bigger fanbase and is local in Los Angeles; they will sell more tickets and get more eyes on the TV.

If the Big Ten Champion and Ohio State are both in the playoff, we should be in the Rose.

of needing other teams to do your dirty work for you. Clemson is going to mollywhomp VaTech.

Turnovers and the lack of an effective running game on the road will doom even the best of teams, and that's what Michigan did to itself this year.
