Yeah, I don't see the appeal. Northwestern played Illinois at Wrigley Field several years ago and both offenses had to use one end zone the entire game because it would have been too dangerous to play the other end zone...unless you wanted to see players catch a touchdown and then immediately crash into the wall.

Couldn't they get just as much attention playing in the Meadowlands?  Or, are they worried that the extra seats would all be empty?

The interesting thing is, to push the idea that Rutgers is NYCs B1G team, Delaney will have to avoid putting Michigan in any NYC games, potentially costing the conference millions.

Over on /r/cfb someone floated the idea that the high, close stadium walls will amplify the noise and make for a really loud environment. I honestly couldn't tell if they were being serious.

I went to the Pinstripe Bowl this year between Indiana and Duke. Yankee Stadium is a TERRIBLE place for a football game. The dimensions are all wrong.

In one endzone, nobody can see because they're too high up (the outfield). At the fifty yard line (a.k.a. the premium seats), you are the furthest away from the action just because of how the field fits. I paid $15 for the experience, but that was in large part because it was two high scoring, no-defense teams. Rutgers vs. Maryland? Nope.

I did both the Lehigh/Lafayette and Pinstripe Bowl games in '14 --- there are TONS of bad seats.  I learned from the Lehigh game what seats to get for the bowl game that would be at least half way decent (the non-outfield end zone).

I will say this for Yankee Stadium: it's a good location.  Minutes from mid-town Manhattan, and that makes for a lot of fun.  That subway ride is a whole lot better than going out to the Jersey swamplands.

The Detroit Lions played their games in Briggs Stadium / Tiger Stadium until 1974 when they moved to the Silverdome.  The football field ran in the outfield from the right field line to left center field parallel with the third base line. Both benches were on the same side of the field because there wan't room on both sides, but at least there was room for the end zone and goal posts at both ends since the field was well over 120 yards from the first base wall to left center field..

Best seats were a little past third base.

He panders like no one has pandered before.

B1G Basketball Tournament is Washington DC next season and then MSG the year after.

HOW ABOUT DETROIT, HUH? WHY DON'T YOU STOP HANDING OUT EVENTS TO TEAMS WHO HAVE BEEN HERE FOR TWO YEARS!?!

You are right again, as these events will sell out whether they are in Detroit, Chicago, Indy, Minn. and the TV ratings should be the exact same.

Does he really think that by having it at those other "big media" locations that any potential incremental revenue per seat will outweigh the chance that people from the Midwest will not travel there thus not having a sell out.

Yeah because having the big ten tourney in fucking auburn hills michigan makes sense.  There is a reason detroit hasn't hosted and its because detroit doesn't have an easily accesible basketball stadium.  Sorry NYC and DC are desirable travel locations with large amounts of big ten alumni, a combination which is almost sure to gaurantee strong ticket sales.

This idea is bad and Delaney should feel bad. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I hope they both lose. And then Rutgers loses again, somehow. Making them a combined 0-3 for playing in such a stupid game.

on a college campus?  Tough choice.  Bronx or college campus?  Bronx or college campus? College campus is in New Brunswick!  Some may actually opt for the Bronx.  I just cannot imaging tailgateing in the Bronx.

The majority of Rutgers fans are opposed to a game at Yankee Stadium, with 69.3 percent of over 2,904 respondents to an NJ.com poll voting against having a game in the Bronx. Rutgers is now scheduled to have six true home games in 2017.

If you won't see the game in Piscataway and you reside there, why would you go all the way to the Bronx to see it? I mean, the Yankees organization is all too happy, I assume, to have people in the seats and paying to be there on a day when normally this wouldn't happen, but it's awesome that Rutgers thinks the Yankees care.
