Michigan informs Cam Hunt that they are done recruiting 2013 OL

Well that's enough thread starting from me today.  Here's Sam Webb's tweet:

OSU

would love to have him!  You guys cleaned up on offensive lineman again this year.  We could use a few.

Whatever happened to Hunt

Whatever happened to Hunt last weekend?  I thought he was here to visit us but ended his visit at the Michigan/Ohio bball game in Columbus?  Maybe thats why he's no longer being recruited.  I think 6 OL is more than enough anyway.  Bring on Green and Smythe!

The way I understand it, he

The way I understand it, he took his official to OSU immediately after his official to Michigan. Which is to say, not on the weekend. Unorthodox, but not prohibited?

And I doubt that had anything to do with him no longer being recruited.

Are OSU fans blacklisted here?

I have been reading this website forever.  I really enjoy it for the most part.  How exactly was my comment trolling.  I simply paid you guys a compliment (said you were cleaning up on offensive lineman) and said that I wish we could get Hunt.

Your comment was fine in my

Your comment was fine in my opinion.  There're some guys who go through and over-react on recruiting threads and neg every remark they don't agree with.  Looks like you ran across one of them.

That is just drive by

That is just drive by moderating. Some folks will just neg things to neg them. Don't worry because those voted points dont mean anything as of now.

Don't be a jerk and you'll be fine.

Yeah, you're fine.  I hate to

Yeah, you're fine.  I hate to say 'accept the downvotes that come with being an OSU fan and alum' but it is what it is.  That's the blessing and curse of the up/down vote system - genuine trolls will be rightly negbombed into oblivion but genuinely good posters from OSU/MSU etc (of which we have several) catch some undeserved flak as well by a zealous minority.

Have an upvote on me!  (And a sincere wish that you go 0-12 next season :) )

Agreed

I agree that I bring it upon myself for venturing in to enemy territory.  If you go to elevenwarriors you seem the same thing, some very thoughtful Michigan fans get totally crucified for no reason.  I like the 0-12 part, I wish the same for you guys.  That is what I love so much about the rivalry.  It really comes down to respect, the bottom line is I respect Michigan.  I respect the tradition, the academics, I respect the fight.

hmmmmm...

I guess this is where we differ.

While I respect your thoughtful response and personal enjoyment of the rivalry I cannot respect Ohio over the past decade (see: Tressel era, Gee era, Smith era) because of the rampant cheating, the blatant obfuscation and the tacit acceptance of your fanbase of those approaches.

I might respect your place in the fight if you did it without the outright dishonesty and hubris. I doubt I'll ever come to respect Ohio in the rivalry. Instead, the actions of Tressel, Gee, Smith and your fanbase have caused to intensify my dislike but mostly to confirm my disrespect for your university, your administration, your fanbase and your team.

People don't neg you here because you're a bad guy. They don't neg you because your ideas are ridiculous. They neg you because when they see Buckeye they default to feelings of disdain and disrespect.

I can understand the feelings

I can understand the feelings on Tressel, Gee, Smith.  I agree with 99% of them.  Wouldn't mind seeing Gee and Smith gone.  However, I believe that Woody loved Bo and Bo loved Woody.  Bottom line is you have two power house programs with histories that include greatness and scars.  The fab 5 happened, so what.,  It happens.  NO ONE IS IMMUNE!!  These are 18 year old kids fergodsakes.  Michigan is much better than that.  I look at the whole picture, the long history.  OSU is the school of Jesse Owens.  Michigan is the school of Gerald Ford.  It is bigger than one, coach, athletic director, or president.

Most Michigan fans respect

Most Michigan fans respect Woody.  As for Tressel, he didn't respect The Game because he cheated, and it was much more than just Tattoo-gate.  The Fab 5 is a good point, but I don't see Steve Fisher being celebrated as a hero in Michigan.

Exactly this.

With his response, our friend from Ohio continues the trend of the Buckeye fan to turn the blind eye to the abuses of the past ten years. The difference between Ohio and Michigan is that the cheating isn't an issue to Ohio fans on any level.

I will finish with this on

I will finish with this on the topic because I am sure the last thing you guys want on this board is a Buckeye fan talking about Tressel.  Tressel screwed so many people but most importantly he screwed the 95 kids on the team that are good kids that go to class and follow the rules.  He screwed the entire 2012 team that had 0 players from the tat-gate scandal from being bowl eligible.   I have zero love for Jim Tressel and maybe I should have pointed out that it is painful to carry the stigma of his actions as an alumnus.  I certainly don't condone what he did, what he did was wrong.  My original point was simply that I respect Michigan at a Macro level.  I do not see Michigan as one man, one player, one president.  I see them as a corporation (basically that is what these two schools are if you think about it).  At a corporation there are good people and there are shitty people.  The last 10 years for OSU has had many of the latter.  I just ask that you look at the Macro level.  If  you never respect OSU that is fine, but I think it makes the rivlary better.  Trust me I still hate you guys, I was born in Dayton and my teenage years were in the 90"s.  Don't want to come across as too friendly =-).

Well said

You have posted many things that I feel the very same way about regarding this rivalry.  You are the Bizzaro to my Superman.  I hate hate HATE Ohio, but I do respect them for being half of the best rivalry in college sports.  I think Tressel did your program right in some ways, but the wrong he did to the program far exceed the good he accomplished.  I've read all of Bo's books and he has very good things to say about Woody.

I appreciate the love your fans have for your team, school and program because its the same intensity Michigan fans have for ours. I think the disrespect you're experiencing nowadays is due to the arrogance (yes, a Michigan fan is calling you arrogant) of the fan base with Tressel perched a top a pedestal that they "owned" Michigan.  Now we learn just how that happened, at least for a few years, and we still see the arrogance comparable to Lance Armstrong prior to just a few days ago.  THAT's what I can't stand.

Unlike a number of others, I do hope that Ohio is undefeated up until The Game.  I think that a loss in the last weekend of November will sting more that way, and it means that The Game is relevant in the B1G Championship picture and a possible BCS berth, or a *gasp* playoff berth.

But at the end of the day, I think we can all agree on one thing...thank God we're not ND fans.

OSAlum, this board LOVES

OSAlum, this board LOVES Buckeyes that have an endless supply of compliments for Michigan. You will get more Brownie points than any one of us for saying the same things that we do. My question is: Are you one of those that goes back to 11 Warriors and says, "Hey guys, you'll never believe what these idiots are saying on MGoBlog.......blah blah"? You're doing great so far.

Nope, but I have seen those

Nope, but I have seen those posts over there.  I rarely ever post on elevenwarriors, I read it mostly for recruiting info.  I read both sites primarily for recruiting and for some game day analysis.  Let me just say I hate when you guys are about to "buckle up".  I think it is coming again soon with Derrick Green which is going to be a HUGE get!  I have always liked this site because it has more diverse information and some nice OT stuff.  I also enjoy talking with the enemy maybe more than a bunch of people who all agree with each other.  No bullshit from me.

You are probably Te'o's girffriend.  Not only am I a graduate.  I met my wife at OSU.  My in-laws are both OSU grads and my mom works at OSU (Department of Speech and Hearing).  But to be fair, if my daughter ever got accepted to Michigan, I would be thrilled.  It is the better academic school (OSU is not as bad academically as some of you guys make it out to be though!!)

My wife is still a Patriots

My wife is still a Patriots fan to this day, just because the Big Kat played one year of Pro ball their.  He is dumb as a box of rocks.  I am about his same age and played football at a rival high school when he was at Westerville South.  Rumors were that he was a raging alcoholic in high school, probably burned up a few brain cells.  Hey, Krenzel majored in Molecular Genetics  =-)

Also, I should point out that I earned a C, in English 101 at OSU.  That is basically 10th grade English.  I was a Math Major and work at Northrup Grumman outside of Denver, so I think it all worked out.

I'd say you're fine Ohio fan

I'd say you're fine Ohio fan considering you've been reading long enough and know how things work around here. This blog is a reflection of the intelligent side of our fan base, for the most part, and it seems like you are a level headed enough Ohio fan to realize that. And probably the fact the both major programs at Michigan appear to be all the way back so being a dick wouldn't really make any sense any more. We definitely are not falling off the map like Auburn anytime soon, so enjoy!

That is why I like this blog

I really enjoy 90% of the posters on here.  This is my go to blog for Michigan material.  I am an alumnus so I am more level headed than most OSU fans that have never set foot on campus.  A couple quick points to illustrate how fair I am.  I would trade Burke for either OSU point guard in a minute.  I think you guys have the most complete basketball team in the BIG. I knew from the second Hoke got hired (being an Ohio guy for recruiting purposes) and his enormous love for Michigan, that the rivalry was 100% back.  His recruiting has done nothing but make believe that we are in the midst of another 10 year war.   This guy gets it!  Look foward to friendly banter.

Absolutely Not

My sister is an OSU grad and she is barely making minimum wage.  That should be good fuel for this board.  She majored in a degree that doesn't pay well.  I believe the type of degree may be more important than the school itself.  Although, if I were to be completely honest, the Michigan fans that live in Ohio tend to be the lower educated, never stepped foot in Ann Arbor types.  The ones that I have met at Michigan away games that are graduates of U of M are nothing short of great people.

This is stupid

Year over year the defense is markedly improved from the Rodriguez years and the last of the RichRod era recruits are ending their careers at Michigan (BWC etc) while the new recruits slot in.

I imagine over the past two years (with legacy recruits) Mattison/Hoke/Montgomery have coached em up a little.

I think it is more a numbers game now

They can get to 28, that is about it. With two spots remaining, they feel good about both Green and the TE from Texas, Durham Smythe.

If they don't get all of the above two, some random 5* player may just show up at Metro Airport for an official to Michigan.

Best of luck to Mr. Hunt in

Best of luck to Mr. Hunt in all his future endeavors. Would have been a nice addition, but still ecstatic about this class of O-linemen. Maybe the coaches have a good feeling about Smythe, who could potentially wind up on the O-line. Or maybe there's a highly rated WR, that wants to join this class.

This is strange that Michigan has him on a visit weekend and then less than a week later say they are done recruiting O-linemen.  It says to me that they now feel better about a couple other players they have a greater need for.

Right. Finally, someone has

Right.  Finally, someone has mentioned that he'd like to see game-breaking WRs and he's concerned about Hoke's recruiting of skill position players.  I've been wondering when this point would first appear on this blog, and I think it finally happened thanks to Webber's Pimp in this thread.

Sorry to be an ass, but this comment is driving me a little crazy.  If you throw away the 2011 class as one lost to the coaching transition, Hoke has had two classes.  Across them, he has landed a five-star QB and very likely will land a five-star RB.  He finished as the runner up for two other five-star RBs (Ty Isaac & Brionte Dunn).  Despite having an offense that in no way shows recruits how the passing game will look in the coming years, he's landed a four-star WR in Amara Darboh and several others on the 3/4 star border (Dukes, Chesson, etc.).

I'd love to get a Treadwell type receiver, too, but you can't always get everything you want in one or two recruiting classes.

Thank you

I'm glad someone else is willing to say this, Hoke's skill position recruting to this point is average at best, besides Morris and possibly Green, what other top talent has he landed at the skill position.  Need game changers, big play threats

I wouldn't be terribly upset

I wouldn't be terribly upset with Green and another quality guy at any skill position

I hope magnus is reading this...

If we are done pursuing lineman, then who are we going after to fill the final two spots?

1. Derrick Green (Of Course)

2. .........?

I know we must be going after more than two as well, because you don't want to not fill all available spots.

Derrick Green is one, but

Derrick Green is one, but Michigan has also been in contact with Ty Isaac, who will likely end up somewhere other than USC.  I don't think they'll get/take both, though.

Michigan is also supposedly looking at taking another linebacker, although no new offers have been extended to 2013 guys in the last couple weeks.

I haven't been following Isaac since he committed to USC. Is he looking around?

Yep.  Notre Dame, Ole Miss,

Yep.  Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Michigan have all been mentioned as possibilities, although Notre Dame seems to be the strongest possibility.

I know Cameron Hunt was going

I know Cameron Hunt was going to be a little tougher to get, since he had more suitors...

...but I would have preferred Hunt.  He's smaller right now, but a better athlete than Samuelson.

How Henry Poggi is doing with his recruiting of Reuben Foster...
