I've been frequenting MGoBlog for about 3 years now and was an MGoBlogVoyeur for a couple of years prior. As users came and went during that time, occasional introductions were made amongst the user folk hereabouts. I've noticed a bit of turnover over the last few months and thought it may be interesting for everyone to share a bit of background. So, if you're inclined...

Age?

Occupation?

Location?

Alum?

Most MICHIGAN thing you've ever done? (funny, memorable, etc.)

Me;

On the precipice of 50.

Marketing Director.

Born in TC, but live in MN now.

L.S.A. Class of '88.

The most MICHIGAN thing?  I committed a foul against Gilvani Johnson in an intramural basketball game. The foul prevented him from completing a slam dunk. This turned out to be my team's sole victory in an otherwise not so closely contested 119-42 loss.

From/current location: Kent County, MI ---grew up in Comstock Park/Alpine Township (just a few miles northwest of GR).  Lived in Michigan all my life, including, among other places, the Kalamazoo area, Midland area, and the last several years in northeastern Berrien County.

Occupation: retail supervision and management

Alum: no ---most of my college years spent at WMU (Fight on, fight on for Western...), although my BBA Degree is from Siena Heights University. (Go Saints!)

Most Michigan thing(s): My Big House "Seniority"; also have NEVER left a Michigan game early (yes, I went back in last fall and watched the rest of that Utah fiasco).

Though born and raised in a family full of ND fans, seeds of rebellion were planted in the '64 season, especially while watching Bob Timberlake and Michigan beat Oregon St. in the '65 Rose Bowl.  My grandparents were literally shocked and stunned to see me root for "that team!".  My Michigan conversion became complete over the next several years, as once I discovered the broadcasts of Bob Ufer I just couldn't get enough MEEEECHIGAN!!!

Now closing in on my 41st season of Michigan Football---my first Michigan Football Game attended was on 9/27/75, the 14-14 tie vs. Baylor.  I hitchhiked with a WMU frat brother to his Redford home that Friday afternoon, rode with him and his folks to AA the next day and tailgated at a house (since demolished) at the corner of Stadium and Main (right across from the SW gate of Michigan Stadium), and knew immediately season tickets were in my future.  Got season tickets starting in '77, and moved to my current Section 36 seats in '80.  By my best count, I've been to at least 255 home games and another 34 away and bowl games, so will reach the 300-game milestone sometime in the 2016 season.  HARBAUGH!

Sadly no, I decided to join up right after HS and forego college.

At the Michigan vs. Florida Outback bowl game in '03 me at 12 and my mom were walking to the game.  A convertible of gator fans rolled up next to us and started Gator chomping.  Now 12 year old me wasn't having it.  I started talking crap the only way a 12 year old can.  Just simple things like you guys stand no chance and you won't be doing that after the game.  My mom quickly shut me up thinking we were going to get jumped.  Luckily we ended up winning that game by two touchdowns.

Twin Cities. Nope--Commodore. Most M thing: joining this blog community, I guess. Never been to Crisler, Yost or the Big House. Just grew up a fan in Detroit. Although I do have a Michigan grill cover and a wool blankie that I still sleep with. And I do make the dog wear a Michigan bandana--but only on game days.

Watched every game on TV since about 1970 saw a couple in person, had a feeling 1997 was our year copied every game on VHS. Came in handy, was able to give copies to a friend whose dad was an Alum from the medical school for his birthday, he was ecstatic to get that as a gift, he died later that year.

Wisconsin.  The Badgers were coached by Stu Jackson (who later went on to be a coach and GM in the NBA).  Even then, Stu was well known for his sartorial style and was easily the best dressed basketball coach in the Big Ten.

Second row behind the Badgers bench, I brought a huge hand made sign that read:        "Stu: You're styling like Billy Dee, but you're coaching like Ruby Dee!"                                    I waited until a crucial moment in the second half before unveiling the banner.  I yelled at Stu and he looked around at me and the banner.  He started cracking up, and pointed the sign out to his assistants who also cracked up.  Then the Badger players saw it and they all started laughing.  He then gave me a big thumbs up and turned back to the game. I still have the banner.

If you search for michigan fans on google images, my buddy and I have been in the top ten since 2007. We just fell out about a month ago (but still in the top 20). Wearing Pom Pom skirts at the 2007 osu game (37 degrees and drizzling) was maybe not my smartest choice, but we stayed the whole game.

Proudest MICHIGAN moment - my then 3yr old son jumped off the couch after Pierre Thomas scored a TD in the SuperBowl for the Saints, against the Colts, and belted out The Victors (because that's what you do after a touchdown) ...the Buckeye Alum and host of the SuperBowl party was not amused ...but everyone else in the room sure as hell was!  My boy!!

Most Michigan Moment: Man, there are so many. Perhaps my favorite was the PSU game at State College in '97. Sat amongst most PSU fans while we spanked that ass. There was this young couple sitting next to us. Huge PSU fans. They were actually really great. He was wearing a t-shirt that said "Enis Envy" in honor of their running back, Curtis Enis. It was the best time I have ever had at a game.

Partied on South U two years in a row as the Fab 5 made it to the national championship both years.  Attended the Michigan-Washington football game in Seattle just a few days prior to 9/11.  I believe we lost on a blocked FG or something of that nature.  Our seats were corner end zone first or second row on the opposite side of the field as the block.  Attended the following year's game at Michigan where we avenged the loss.

Most Michigan thing - Hm... I was in the stadium for The Catch and the Heisman pose games, and I had a class with Juwan Howard, but probably the most Michigan thing is that when I took the GRE it was a game day, and I full-on-sprinted across campus from the testing building (CC Little? who knows) to the stadium to get there in time for the second half of the MSU game.

Most MICHIGAN thing you've ever done: There have been a lot, but sticking with sports, I would say either rushing the field after the win over Ohio State or the first UTL game. I have to say though, I will never forget how cold the 2008 Northwestern game was.

I'm not sure I've done any "crazy" things Michigan related, but a few years ago the family went to Vegas for Thanksgiving. My brother and I took a red-eye to DTW and went straight to the golf course to tailgate for The Game. It was my birthday, and we broke the unbearable losing streak against the enemy. I was tanked. And happy.

2011 (maybe a bit worse than 2012 when you open your fandom with Appalachian state)

I've done a lot of crazy Michigan things in almost 7 years here, but after an attractive male friend ran into me at Ricks and saved me from a creeper, we snuck into the big house in the middle of February and a foot of snow (only the block M on the 50 was cleared) and had our first kiss. Relationship didn't last (how often do they when they start at ricks?) long, but we're still great friends and no one has topped that first kiss moment.
