Jabrill Peppers' Final Push for Da'Shawn Hand

Submitted by Son of Lloyd Brady on

Short pitch from Jabrill pleading for Da'Shawn to join Michigan's class. Nothing too exciting, just thought we could use a distraction from all of the depressing threads recently.

Yes, yes I know, Bleacher Report. It's only 3 sentences describing the video, so no content or opinion laced into the article.

the same lines, I have serious concerns about the composition of the crowd for the Michigan v. Ohio game this year.  There was definately a red "coating" on the crowd for the Nebraska game already.  If these next two games don't go well, I think the Ohio game could be embarrasing in terms of the makeup of the crowd.  I can see that stadium being 40% OSU fans if not more.

Yes. If those are the factors, it's not even close. If a kid is only considering those variables, it's Bama every time. Hopefully, other factors such as "academics" and "coach won't lie to my Mom and say that if I get decent grades and stay out of trouble I get a degree like...Saban does, even though he really means that I have to do all of those things AND hope that no one better at playing football at my position is recruited after me" or "coach isn't actually Damian, Son of Lucifer, sent through time and space to dominate college football before signaling the endtimes by turning into a 45-foot tall demon and instantly immolating everyone in the Rose Bowl after winning his 10th national championship in 2020" ....weigh into Hand's decision.

That's exactly right.  To some kids, the only criteria is who will win a championship or get them to the NFL.  The last one is silly, because almost any school will get you to the NFL if you're good.  NFL players come from everywhere.  Alabama doesn't do a better job of getting kids to the NFL, they just do a better job of recruiting NFL talent.

But there is way more to it than that.  Some kids want to go where they feel comfortable.  Some kids go where they fit in well with the other players (or recruits) and coaching staff.  Some kids prefer a particular part of the country (and this does not always mean warm weather).  Some kids want to go build something, want early playing time, or want to be the last piece to the puzzle.  And some kids let their parents influence their decision quite a bit, and usually the parents have more foresight than just "winning championships."

I'm not saying I'll be shokced if Hand picks Alabama, but for the people saying "He probably should pick Bama over us actually" kinda blow my mind.

People would be thrilled we had pulled someone like Pepper in. Now that there's a decent shot at Hand, it'll be a disasterous disappointment, and people won't care so much that Pepper is coming anyway.

Got to love that kid; he's tryiing, anyway.

Not buying that and disastrous is a bit strong - just setting the stage for disappointment.  There's a big difference between Michigan recruiting in NJ vs. VA.  Anyone NJ and north we have a much better chance with.  Start heading south and it gets tougher.  Peppers is the more important of the two because of what may follow from that area.

This one is actually applicable to the fans.  The AD understands the general feeling from the fanbase.  If we are content at 8-4, that's what we will get.  Look at Kirk Ferentz.  Iowa fans are just now losing their complacency with him.

Now, people who decide that this message board shouldn't overlook cupcakes on our schedules.  How does us overlooking them change anything?  I mean, either way, there's a good chance the cupcake wins over the past 6 years.

I could have easily used those as examples and the point still stands.  And it's spelled (looks down at watch) "Tag Heuer."  If you can afford one of those, you can afford Zingerman's.  And it's worth every penny.

Maybe you're ordering the wrong thing.  This happened to me the last time I went there.  One of the people I was with ordered some sort of Italian style sandwich.  That's dumb, it's a Jewish deli.  Order pastrami or corned beef exclusively.  And get it on rye.  My suggestion would be the #22 Jenny's Fix, which is called a Sky High at many Jewish delis.  That's pastrami on rye with swiss, slaw and Russian dressing.  It's the best sandwich combination ever.

Tell me, does the "Tag Heuer" tell better time? Does it have an atomic clock in it? Does it give handjobs?

Because it just sounds like you got suckered into paying a lot more for something so you can advertise for them on your wrist.

Everybody will be disappointed if Hand goes elsewhere, but I doubt that there will be much outright rage. It's not unreasonable to have doubts about the on-the-field coaching aspects of Hoke & Co., but where Hand goes doesn't change the fact that Hoke has done a tremendous job of recruiting.

All I can say is that, as a mod, I really hope people don't go there (mainly because it would be terrible reasoning) if he in fact commits elsewhere (247 Crystal Ball is 87% Michigan, so fingers crossed), because then the text of all such posts are going to get replaced with "The Blame Game....Borges! Borges Borges Bo Borges Banana Fana Fo Forges Fe Fi Mo Morges....Borges....". It is getting out of hand, so we might as well have fun with it, eh?

it'll be extremely easy to blame Hand not coming here on the fact that we've dropped 2 straight right before he announced. And even if not everyone says it, many will, because many will probably be thinking it, whether rational or not.

Besides, how often do people here let their emotions get the best of them? As a mod you know that the answer is all too often.

Lastly, were some comments deleted earlier in this thread after my original comment back near the top? Some of the responses I read earlier seem missing, or maybe I'm just sleep deprived.
