Jabrill Peppers' Final Push for Da'Shawn Hand
Short pitch from Jabrill pleading for Da'Shawn to join Michigan's class. Nothing too exciting, just thought we could use a distraction from all of the depressing threads recently.
Yes, yes I know, Bleacher Report. It's only 3 sentences describing the video, so no content or opinion laced into the article.

Can you quote what he says?

November 12th, 2013 at 1:53 PM ^
Hey D man, listen bro. (laughs)
We need you. You know uh, you make our class a lot stronger. We have alot of great rexruits on the list already. Just come make us stronger. Come get that degree and play top notch ball in the biggest stadium in college football baby.
November 12th, 2013 at 1:46 PM ^
this board is going to erupt massively in rage. It will be a meltdown unheard of on non-game days.
November 12th, 2013 at 1:56 PM ^
Um, not really. Many people already think he is sold on Alabama. In the middle of this tough season, who still has the emotional reserves to melt down over this?

November 12th, 2013 at 2:50 PM ^
Wait, somebody dropped a hat? Who dropped a hat? Holy shit, was it a recruit? Which one? Where did the hat fall? Was it an MSU hat? A Bama hat? I can't handle this shit anymorrrrrrrreeeee!!!!!
November 12th, 2013 at 2:59 PM ^
with a few outspoken people blaming it all on the offense's failure to win us games lately (and thus blaming Borges) and then it will amplify as the board has become a bit of an echo chamber lately (something I must humbly admit myself to have taken part in lately).

I live in NYC, am not on the waiting list, have never had season tickets nor ever planned to do so, but if Hand Doesn't come to Michigan I'm definitely not getting them next year.
November 12th, 2013 at 4:24 PM ^
That makes two of us. The snowball has started!
November 12th, 2013 at 3:22 PM ^
Yeah I can see this happening.
November 12th, 2013 at 3:46 PM ^
the same lines, I have serious concerns about the composition of the crowd for the Michigan v. Ohio game this year. There was definately a red "coating" on the crowd for the Nebraska game already. If these next two games don't go well, I think the Ohio game could be embarrasing in terms of the makeup of the crowd. I can see that stadium being 40% OSU fans if not more.
November 12th, 2013 at 3:52 PM ^
My OSU friend told me that Michigan fans are dumping tickets on stub hub and that OSU fans are buying them up.
November 12th, 2013 at 4:14 PM ^
I bet our jersey sales are slippipng in Ohio too. Damn you Borges!
November 12th, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
If we miss out on Hand it will more than likely be because of the performance of our D Line, compared to the Line of Florida and Bama.I guess you could spin it as an offensive issue considering they practive against our O line
November 12th, 2013 at 4:46 PM ^
I know this is heresy, but if you are a defensive linemen and aren't from this area, are interested in the NFL, national titles and playing at the highest level, Alabama has a better argument today than Michigan does.
November 12th, 2013 at 6:42 PM ^
Yes. If those are the factors, it's not even close. If a kid is only considering those variables, it's Bama every time. Hopefully, other factors such as "academics" and "coach won't lie to my Mom and say that if I get decent grades and stay out of trouble I get a degree like...Saban does, even though he really means that I have to do all of those things AND hope that no one better at playing football at my position is recruited after me" or "coach isn't actually Damian, Son of Lucifer, sent through time and space to dominate college football before signaling the endtimes by turning into a 45-foot tall demon and instantly immolating everyone in the Rose Bowl after winning his 10th national championship in 2020" ....weigh into Hand's decision.
November 13th, 2013 at 12:04 AM ^
That's exactly right. To some kids, the only criteria is who will win a championship or get them to the NFL. The last one is silly, because almost any school will get you to the NFL if you're good. NFL players come from everywhere. Alabama doesn't do a better job of getting kids to the NFL, they just do a better job of recruiting NFL talent.
But there is way more to it than that. Some kids want to go where they feel comfortable. Some kids go where they fit in well with the other players (or recruits) and coaching staff. Some kids prefer a particular part of the country (and this does not always mean warm weather). Some kids want to go build something, want early playing time, or want to be the last piece to the puzzle. And some kids let their parents influence their decision quite a bit, and usually the parents have more foresight than just "winning championships."
I'm not saying I'll be shokced if Hand picks Alabama, but for the people saying "He probably should pick Bama over us actually" kinda blow my mind.
November 12th, 2013 at 1:57 PM ^
I don't think you should ever feel too badly about losing a guy to a team that's won three of four national championships. From a purely football perspective, why not go to Alabama?
November 12th, 2013 at 2:01 PM ^
People would be thrilled we had pulled someone like Pepper in. Now that there's a decent shot at Hand, it'll be a disasterous disappointment, and people won't care so much that Pepper is coming anyway.
Got to love that kid; he's tryiing, anyway.
November 12th, 2013 at 2:20 PM ^
November 12th, 2013 at 2:25 PM ^
But I looked at the OP and self-corrected myself, thinking I was wrong. My bad.
November 12th, 2013 at 3:12 PM ^
I thought he meant Taybor Pepper. I think he might have made a tackle on us this year. Hooray MSU game.
November 12th, 2013 at 2:36 PM ^
where Hand goes, I am still incredibly happy about Peppers joining the team!...obviously I will be disappointed, but for anyone on this board to short-change the getting of Peppers is absolutely moronic
November 12th, 2013 at 3:41 PM ^
Not buying that and disastrous is a bit strong - just setting the stage for disappointment. There's a big difference between Michigan recruiting in NJ vs. VA. Anyone NJ and north we have a much better chance with. Start heading south and it gets tougher. Peppers is the more important of the two because of what may follow from that area.
November 12th, 2013 at 7:37 PM ^
yeah exactly. Should we really be that surprised and disapointed if we "lose" the #1 DE (who's from VA) to Bama? Our big ace in the hole is a Sports Management professor. Alabama's is they are Alabama and Nick Saban is their coach. Let's be happy we're getting Jabrill.
November 12th, 2013 at 2:02 PM ^
You give up on expectations, you get a whole lotta mediocrity. No defeatist mentality. There are no moral victories in recruiting.
November 12th, 2013 at 2:04 PM ^
I agree that the coaching staff cannot, but I don't see how our (the fans') mindset matters.
November 12th, 2013 at 2:08 PM ^
This one is actually applicable to the fans. The AD understands the general feeling from the fanbase. If we are content at 8-4, that's what we will get. Look at Kirk Ferentz. Iowa fans are just now losing their complacency with him.
Now, people who decide that this message board shouldn't overlook cupcakes on our schedules. How does us overlooking them change anything? I mean, either way, there's a good chance the cupcake wins over the past 6 years.
November 12th, 2013 at 2:38 PM ^
I think we can refrain from errupting over a single recruit, though (I realize you aren't arguing for that).
November 12th, 2013 at 2:52 PM ^
I'd like to refrain from using the words "erupting" and "recruit" in the same sentence, especially after the OMGshirtless twitter stalking phase this board went through over the summer. Creepy ass old men...
November 12th, 2013 at 2:03 PM ^
Can literally think of no other reason at this point
November 12th, 2013 at 2:53 PM ^
How about b/c it is in Alabama, fergodsakes ...
November 12th, 2013 at 3:10 PM ^
Zingerman's is overrated and overpriced.

November 12th, 2013 at 7:44 PM ^
I'll take an Audi and a TagHuer thank you very much.
November 13th, 2013 at 12:09 AM ^
I could have easily used those as examples and the point still stands. And it's spelled (looks down at watch) "Tag Heuer." If you can afford one of those, you can afford Zingerman's. And it's worth every penny.
Maybe you're ordering the wrong thing. This happened to me the last time I went there. One of the people I was with ordered some sort of Italian style sandwich. That's dumb, it's a Jewish deli. Order pastrami or corned beef exclusively. And get it on rye. My suggestion would be the #22 Jenny's Fix, which is called a Sky High at many Jewish delis. That's pastrami on rye with swiss, slaw and Russian dressing. It's the best sandwich combination ever.
November 13th, 2013 at 12:37 PM ^
Tell me, does the "Tag Heuer" tell better time? Does it have an atomic clock in it? Does it give handjobs?
Because it just sounds like you got suckered into paying a lot more for something so you can advertise for them on your wrist.
November 12th, 2013 at 3:25 PM ^
Be careful lest you open the rift caused by the great Zingerman's vs. Maize and Blue Deli debate. For the record, I think both are quite excellent choices and have their own merits.
November 12th, 2013 at 3:51 PM ^

November 12th, 2013 at 2:04 PM ^
I think the dong punches all season long may mitigate that, or prime it to explode even worse. I hope we don't find out.
November 12th, 2013 at 2:23 PM ^
Everybody will be disappointed if Hand goes elsewhere, but I doubt that there will be much outright rage. It's not unreasonable to have doubts about the on-the-field coaching aspects of Hoke & Co., but where Hand goes doesn't change the fact that Hoke has done a tremendous job of recruiting.
November 12th, 2013 at 2:37 PM ^
the outrage will be if McDowell to MSU...

November 12th, 2013 at 2:42 PM ^
YEP! AND, we are going to blame Borges for it because he is visual incarnation of all our current frustration.
November 12th, 2013 at 2:54 PM ^
All I can say is that, as a mod, I really hope people don't go there (mainly because it would be terrible reasoning) if he in fact commits elsewhere (247 Crystal Ball is 87% Michigan, so fingers crossed), because then the text of all such posts are going to get replaced with "The Blame Game....Borges! Borges Borges Bo Borges Banana Fana Fo Forges Fe Fi Mo Morges....Borges....". It is getting out of hand, so we might as well have fun with it, eh?
November 12th, 2013 at 3:07 PM ^
it'll be extremely easy to blame Hand not coming here on the fact that we've dropped 2 straight right before he announced. And even if not everyone says it, many will, because many will probably be thinking it, whether rational or not.
Besides, how often do people here let their emotions get the best of them? As a mod you know that the answer is all too often.
Lastly, were some comments deleted earlier in this thread after my original comment back near the top? Some of the responses I read earlier seem missing, or maybe I'm just sleep deprived.
