I've got a feelin'.... that

Submitted by iawolve on

For those of you who were at Kinnick last year, you were unfortunately subjected to this f*cking song over and over. It was explained to me that Penn State used the song during the UI/PSU game so they decided to use it (hogwash and it would not make it right if that was the case), regardless, I thought that tragic experience was behind me. HOWEVER, I live in the Iowa City area with two daughters that listen to the local pop stations and that song has resurfaced from the dead for repeated play this week. I thought the first time was an anomaly, but it has snowballed as the week has progressed, punishing me as I am driving my kids to their various activities.

Enough of my bitching. When I hear that song and I think of the association to that Iowa game, I get a feelin' that I want to plunge a phillips head screwdriver into my right ear to end the pain. What you feelin' does the MGoBlog get?

I'm not 100% opposed to piped in music at Michigan Stadium (mostly because I love AC/DC), but consider me Mr. Traditional if they ever play this dorky song before, during, or after a Michigan game...especially during next year's Notre Dame game.

EDIT: Double post.  My bad, dawgs.

So, I will give you a joke to atone for my sins.  Enjoy.

"My job is so unbelievable. I'll try to sum it up by first telling you about the folks I work with:

First, there is this supermodel wanna-be chick. Yeah, okay, she is pretty hot, but damn is she completely useless. The girl is constantly fixing her hair or putting on makeup. She is extremely self-centered and has never once considered the needs or wants of anyone but herself. She is as dumb as a box of rocks, and I still find it surprising that she has enough brain power to continue to breathe.

The next chick is completely the opposite. She might even be one of the smartest people on the planet. Her career opportunities are endless, and yet she is here with us. She is a zero on a scale of 1 to 10. I'm not sure she even showers, much less shaves her "womanly" parts. I think she might be a lesbian, because every time we drive by the hardware store, she moans like a cat in heat.

But the jewel of the crowd has got to be the damn stoner. And this guy is more than just your average pothead. In fact, he is baked before he comes to work, during work, and I'm sure after work. He probably hasn't been sober anytime in the last ten years, and he's only 22. He dresses like a beatnik throwback from the 1960's, and to make things worse, he brings his big dog to work. Every day I have to look at this huge Great Dane walk around half-stoned from the second-hand smoke. Hell, sometimes I even think it's trying to talk with its constant bellowing. Also, both of them are constantly hungry, requiring multiple stops to McDonald's and Burger King, every single bloody day.

Anyway, I drive these folks around in my van and we solve mysteries and stuff."

Ya, I was at that Iowa game with incredible seats (about 10 feet away from Mrs. RichRod and children and two rows off the field) and it still really stings me.

That should have been a "good night" for us! But instead I still have nightmares about that game ending pick.

I can't wait to start the revenge tour through the Big Ten. We got to get some kinda even this year!

I hate that song too, but not because of any bad memories... just because it's a terrible song.

I used to be able to tolerate the Black Eyed Peas, but they absolutely suck now. Ever since watching the Cracked "Hate By Numbers" video on I've got a feelin', I become a red-hot ball of rage every time one of their songs comes on the radio.

"Don't Stop Believing" is a mystery to me.  How could one song from 1981 all of a sudden make a break through the last five years or so?  What a shitty song.  I want to jam a pencil in my eardrum when I hear drunk chicks at the bar sing it as if it's the greatest song ever written.

Possibly the lowest moment in my Michigan Stadium experiences was hearing "Sweet Caroline" blaring over the loudspeakers at some game last year.  Never again.

That if I had started this thread, my MGoPoints would be around -74 by now.

Oh, and that tomorrow is going to be a long, long night.... due to the inability to get to sleep.

Can't stand that song. I seem to remember a main page post by Brian about some M basketball event in Crisler where they played that song to get everyone fired up, and it made Brian want to vomit. I'm not totally opposed to music at games, but if they ever play that song (or Sweet Caroline again) in The Big House, I'm going to lose it.

Dude, I live very close to Iowa City too and was at the game last year. Im glad someone else noticed too. My hatred for the Hawkeyes is rivaling my hatred for Ohio right now.

...played this at all of their games last year.  They made it to the state semis, so we heard it a lot.  It seemed to fit Friday night lights, but Big Ten Saturdays?  I don't think so.
