So are we going to say it was OK for Pouncey to kick Myles in the head? The Steelers are a shitty organization. They've been this way since Tomlin took over. Bradshaw was right, this guy is nothing but a cheerleader. All three should be suspended for the year. Rudolph is a bitch.

I honestly didn't have much problem with Pouncey's reaction. If Garrett actually lands that helmet swing, that could seriously injure Rudolph. Total bush league stuff by Garrett. I think we'd want our DL to defend our QB like that too if it happened to us

It all depends on where you start considering what is excessive.  In a win when the guy grabs and throws you well after the play is excessive; Rudolph isn't a saint but I'd be pissed too.  And so giving him some business isn't any more atypical or out of line for a football game.  My guess is he was trying to yank his head around a bit, but he didn't get the helmet off and that's it.  Then Garrett pulled his damn helmet off and, okay, escalation but still just two guys getting mad.  Then you start swinging it around at people you lose the moral high ground you can claim.

Nobody said Rudolph is some class act here, and Pouncey is a piece of shit for kicking Garrett in the head.  But people trying to defend Garrett like he was forced to start swinging a helmet around for self defense are wrong.

I encourage you and everyone else to watch it again. Watch how Rudolph first yanks at Garrrett’s helmet and neck. After Garrett gets up Rudolph kicks him in the groin. Didn’t see the kick till my 5th + time watching.

Really hope someone in the National media talks about the dirty moves from Rudolph and Pouncey.

This whole thread within the thread is polarized for no reason.  Rudolph, Garrett, and Pouncey all did wrong and all should have been penalized and ejected; with the more egregious violators (Garrett, Pouncey) getting further suspended.

Just because Garrett and Pouncey won the “biggest goon” competition doesn’t absolve Rudolph from his role.

LOL you're only saved from having the worst take of the thread by virtue of The Cube's presence.

Dudes with negative hundred million points living up to the bad, bad commentary. Pouncey should have drop-kicked Garrett's head through the uprights.

Here’s the facts and order of escalation.

1 Garrett pulls down rudolph a little late. Not even late enough for a flag.

2 rudolph starts twisting and pulling garretts helmet.

3 Garrett rips Rudolph’s helmet off and it’s him with it.

4 Garrett wrestled with some lineman and gets taken down

5 pouncey starts punching and then kicking a defenseless Garrett

if you get Garrett as the bad guy from that I can’t help you. Only thing I can guess if your mind was made up for you by the commentators or you hate OSU so much you have decided their professional teams are somehow also related

Such bullshit. Garrett tackles Rudolph late, keeps him pinned to the ground. Yeah Rudolph grabs his head, but only to get Garrett off him. Garrett hit Rudolph with his own helmet, meaning Rudolph wasn't wearing his. Frankly, Pouncey is the real hero here. And of course GARRETT WAS STILL WEARING HIS HELMET WHEN POUNCEY WENT AFTER HIM. And Pouncey's actions were only in reaction to Garrett being a dickbrain. I mean wtf? 8 seconds left. Your season started shitty but you won! Go celebrate with the fellas in the locker room then head out and get laid. You're a former #1 pick--you can easily make that happen! But...no. Now you have to spend weeks on the bench and answering endless variations of the question "How could you be such a dickbrain?"

First of all Myles Garrett Is one of the most intelligent members in the NFL. I assume you all know That but I haven’t seen it mentioned.

Anyway, how is pouncey a hero ? Coming in late to hit and then kick a defenseless guy who was previously taken down ?

Be honest...if Rudolph responds to the hit like a normal play and waits till Garrett gets off him and moves on, does any of this happen ? Of course not.

OK, I will. Your team is about to win and the game is over. So you rough the opposing quarterback in obvious fashion, pin him to the ground for some extra business, then, after you’ve instigated the early stages of a brawl, rip the QB’s helmet off and try to stove his fuckin’ head in with it? Risking suspension, a potential ban, or even possibly criminal charges? Yeah, he’s a real Rhodes Scholar.

I think Garrett gets at least 5 and thinking it will be 8-10 games.  Pouncey 2-4 games.  Rudolph 1 game.  I am neither a Browns or Steelers fan.  If Garrett hadn’t held onto and swung the helmet (increased suspension) and made contact (increased suspension even more) maybe there would have been no suspensions or at most 1 game.  This is just a prediction of what the NFL will impose to make sure In the future no one uses a helmet in a fight.

The number of people who think it's ok to use a helmet in an on-field fight is precisely zero. Even Myles Garrett knows he did wrong there.

But there are a fair number of folks defending Pouncey. That decision's more interesting, and probably more consequential.

Rudolph deserves a fine but I'll be surprised if he gets one; Aikman's "his hand was probably stuck" will be the party line. Pouncey might get a game but more likely just a fine. I don't see much media outrage at Pouncey, and it seems to me it's typically the level of media fuss that drives the eventual penalty.

Gucci Mane you must be out of your mind dude. One guy kicked a dude with a helmet still on. Another HIT a player in the HEAD with NO HELMET on. Getting kicked in the head with a helmet on is literally nothing for an NFL player. Getting tackled with a shoulder to the head hurts worse than being kicked in the helmet. I can’t believe you think what Pouncey did was worse. You make it sound like Garrett was being kicked repeatedly in the head on a street corner in street clothes. He got kicked in his helmet. Lineman get hit in the head often with their helmets on. What you don’t see happening very often is a dude who is a freak of nature with a ton of strength blasting a helmet into another guys head. That’s called assault. What Pouncey did is a football fine and suspension. What Garrett did could have seriously injured someone. I figured you of all people would understand this.

I was in a fight once and got punched in the back of my head with my helmet still on. Got a concussion from that. Didn’t even realize it till I got home and had a brutal headache. I think the adrenaline at the time made me not notice.

Point is, football helmets are not made to take punches or kicks to the top/back of the head without being prepared for it.

A punch to the face is much safer.
