Here's Hoping that OSU gets bitten by the S.I. Cover Jinx

Submitted by pullin4blue on

I'm sure by now you have seen that OSU is on the cover of the Sports Illustrated August 16th College Football Preview. Not only that, T.P. himself has his photo on the table of contents.

Hope they get burned.

last year after the ND game. (I believe Tate was a small photo in one of the top corners of the cover).  I don't see any reason why this rule shouldn't apply to the school down south.

My brother is a huge buckeye fan - I texted him yesterday and told him that the bucks are f*cked this season.  He freaked, thought TP was injured or something - then i let him know they are screwed b/c of the SI cover.

Even though it's a regional cover....I'm with you man hopefully they get some bounces that don't go their way this season!

His way of being a rebel as a kid and it stuck - in a family of all Michigan fans.  He's a typical ohio state fan - thinks that they are going to win a NC every season, thinks Tressel opened up the playbook in the Rose Bowl last year and TP will play like that every game this season, talks up every buckeye recruit before they've ever stepped in a college classroom, etc.

When Michigan beats OSU in columbus this year - i'll be making lots of phone calls and i can bet you that they'll go straight to voicemail!

Problem is, Pryor avoids contact like the plague.  He steps out of bounds casually, about 3 yards before contact.  He plays uninterested, which would drive me nuts if he came to AA.  Unless he gets blindsided, he won't even break a nail.

That being said, I hope he gets exposed as a fraud this year.

Beanie Wells.  I will never, ever forget during the draft two years ago when he was picked by AZ and Kiper said that he thought Wells' weakness was, even though he was a "power back," that he tried to avoid contact.  And they showed a highlight of him storming downfield against Michigan, and suddenly side-steps out of bounds to avoid contact from none other than... Morgan Trent!  It was 235lb Wells vs. 189lb Trent.  That's right, a 46lb differential and Wells would rather step out of bounds than try to run over him.  To me, that has to say something about coaching, a little bit.

I was simply stating I am sick of playing them at half-strength. The 2006 game was last time we faced them as equals.

A healthy 2007 team would have destroyed them (See Capital One Bowl). In 2008, well, I think we took that year off or something.

And in last year's game, our QB was dinged up, we had no Minor RAGE, and so on.

Simply put, it would be nice if we could go into the game standing tall instead of limping.

I hope there are some star players that get injured.  Nothing too serious but just enough to put them out for a while.  Like Pryor.  Hopefully he breaks a couple fingers and can't throw.  Booo OSU!

The only jinx that is going to affect OSU this year is the "Why is Tressel still kissing Pryor's butt" jinx.  That will be enough to give them two losses somewhere.  Hopefully, one is against Michigan.

I remember in 2008 three Buckeyes made the cover including their senior QB who was replaced by Pryor for the season despite no injuries and the fact that he was the All-Big Ten QB in 2007 (Henne was injured). I wonder what true freshman QB Tressel is planning to replace Pryor with this year in accordance with SI cover law.
