Help Out, Someone's Posing as Ace on Twitter
Someone on Twitter has adopted the Twitter name "@aceanbender1" along with Ace's picture. This imposter is also contacting recruits and asking for interviews.
Although the person mentions the fact that this is a "mock account" in the bio, he still refers to him/herself as "Ace from Mgoblog" when contacting these recruits, and that's not cool.
I'm not sure how much we can do other than reporting this person as spam, but if any fans on Twitter want to help out by doing the same, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. Also, if anyone has any better info about ways to deal with this, let them be known.
Here is a link to the profile:

In conclusion, let's stop this before it turns into a Face Off type situation.

but Ace is asking some fellow followers to do the same thing on Twitter, so if we could help out, I'm sure it would be appreciated.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:10 PM ^
Well since I'd be pretty sure the real Ace doesn't contact the recruits publically via Twitter, then there isn't much to worry about
February 10th, 2012 at 2:14 PM ^
See his exchange with @AdamBreneman87 that occured at around 6pm on 9 Feb as an example.

Even if he doesn't, it would look pretty bad for someone pretending to be from a Michigan-related site to be badgering recruits.

a little Buckeye Witchcraft, if you ask me
February 10th, 2012 at 2:23 PM ^
More likely Spartan witchcraft in response to all of the Dantonio knockoffs.

Anbender1 seems to be thinking he's doing a public service by preventing Anbender0 from commiting future violations. Someone put some effort into their trolling at least. I wonder what provoked this.

Ace has finally made it. He has an impersonator. Maybe we can stop dissing him in recruiting threads now?
February 10th, 2012 at 2:15 PM ^
This is why my generation still writes letters.
The Twitters and Googles are bad news.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:18 PM ^
Your generation? Are you typing from beyond the grave?
February 10th, 2012 at 2:31 PM ^
Ghost Writer.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:34 PM ^
Of course not.
I have my secretary take dictation then she types it up on the webs for me.
Her name is Nancy.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:57 PM ^
Do you use one of these or a newer handheld device?
February 10th, 2012 at 3:52 PM ^
Adult gratification devices have sure come a long way...
February 10th, 2012 at 2:48 PM ^
You do know letters are not infallible, right?
That, if I knew your name, I could type one up and mail it in your name without your consent?
Just making sure I understand everything correctly...

be suprised if it was that idiot Ace Williams, I remember a couple of months ago he was talking shit to Ace on twitter. And our Ace did publicly call Chatsports a joke a couple days ago over that dumb article about the 2012 recruits twitter feeds.

I think it's dick cheney
February 10th, 2012 at 2:32 PM ^
I think it's Ray Finkle.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:26 PM ^
I really hope it's an Ohio fan and that Ace/Brian pursue charges. I bet you could throw in a couple other charges on top of that as well.

I am a very loyal fan, but this season is really testing me. The Robert California character is lame and the stories have been really poor for the most part (at least last night's was decent.) Now they are thinking of doing "Shrute Farms" spinoff? They must really want The Office to fail.
Just my $0.02.
February 10th, 2012 at 5:16 PM ^
Just one guy's opinion:
I've loved this season. I think it's been great that they have gone back to what made it great - an ensemble cast. I'm glad there's no longer times when I'm literally pissed off at Michael/the writers for making someone so stupid (the episode where he dumped Pam's mom was just atrocious).
I really like the Robert California character. I love that he is this ingenious manipulator and outwits Dwight. Plus, the Dwight baby angle is going to be great.

The Office just doesn't work without Steve Carell.
Nuff said.
February 10th, 2012 at 5:30 PM ^
Steve Carrell was The Office. Let's put it this way, I watch new episodes still, but with significantly less excitement, and I doubt I'll watch re-runs from this season like I do old episodes.
On a brighter note for NBC, though, my new favorite character on television is, hands down, Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec. Tom Haverford comes in second, Phil Dunphy of Modern Family in third.
February 10th, 2012 at 8:35 PM ^
Phil Dunphy is pretty damn good too as is Aziz.
It's a real shame how far the office has fallen and how quickly. Even though it started before this season the decline recently has been steep.
February 10th, 2012 at 10:12 PM ^
The Office just hasn't been the same for me since Steve Carrell left. Several of my friends who are also "Office junkies" feel the same way. Ron Swanson and Phil Dunphy are damn funny, so that helps as a replacement for The Office.

when there's intent to harm. depending on the state it might be civil or criminal. (i.e., if mgoblog has a lawyer on retainer, you should totally ask about whether you can sue and compel twitter to provide identifying information.)
February 10th, 2012 at 2:53 PM ^
and they would probably just laugh at you. Twitter that is.

Looks like a Sparty troll.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:39 PM ^
We have a impersonator - run, hide, seek cover............ oh no oh no...!
February 10th, 2012 at 2:39 PM ^
...the guy and when he contacts another recruit, tweet how he's not legitimate and a fraud.
Something like: [@recruit_handle], @aceanbender1 is an imposter and not @aceanbender of @mgoblog. Recommend you steer clear.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:55 PM ^
Hmm, I am not sure if spamming the recruit is the best approach.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:42 PM ^
This sort of thing really worries me. Surely some recruits won't look far enough into this to think it's anything other than a Michigan fan creepin'.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:46 PM ^
Yeah, he's contacting pretty much all of the top flight recruits we're going after. Hopefully they've realized by now what's up.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:52 PM ^
Yeah, this is pretty crazy. He even tweeted Dave Brandon and told him to self report Ace for tweeting recruits as an alum and said it was a violation. He has also tweeted Issac, Treadwell, Elmer, Butt, and others. If you are on twitter, do ace and UofM a favor and report him.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:51 PM ^
Was that wrong? Should I not have done that? I'm sorry, I'm gonna have to plead ignorance on this thing.

easy there cowboy, enough with those starry-eyed reveries. its time to take michigan back to the days of guarded curmedgeonism.
February 10th, 2012 at 3:15 PM ^
May want to check with the Mgolawyers if this falls under the necesary conditions for libel. Because someone is trying to ruin Ace's reputation and undermine his work there should be some punishment for the perpetrator.
February 10th, 2012 at 3:46 PM ^
Unfortunately, the US judicial system is not known for being fully with the times on this new intenetz thingy.

February 10th, 2012 at 3:27 PM ^
Twitter's impersonation policy:
Looks like only Ace can report the impersonation. The fact that the impersonator calls it a parody does not make it so, as he is clearly contacting recruits in a way where he holds himself out to be Ace.
February 10th, 2012 at 3:43 PM ^
I've reported it through that page. All I can do for now is wait, but I appreciate you all spreading the word. I am taking great pleasure in seeing that the fake account's only followers are three porn-bots. Well done, everyone.
