If this had happened out of the blue I'd be pretty devastated, but I've seen football as an iffy proposition since March really. I remember people saying it'd be impossible because they'd lose too much money. Dude! They just cancelled the NCAA Tournament!

That’s great that he has his program under control, but he can’t control what other programs do and what their testing numbers are like. And when that program lines up across from his, the virus don’t give two shits that Harbaugh’s cohort has low numbers. It’ll infest his team just the same as it would any other program.

Get over it. The writing has been on the wall for weeks, if not months.

You want to feel bad? Feel bad for all the guys who bust their ass to get ready for the year only to find out weeks beforehand there won’t be one. Feel bad for the seniors like Carlo Kemp and Chuck Filiaga who are more than likely going to get robbed out of their final year of football, and won’t get another chance to play. Feel bad for all the guys who needed this year to get on some NFL scout’s radar.

Man you hit the nail square on the head.

Its these young men that should be at the center of our concerns. Its got to be confusing as hell for them. What's next?

I really wish leadership led.

Much more should have been done to give these guys a better shot. Maybe there was nothing that could have been done but damn it sure feels like not much planning for contigencies at a national level has gone into to much of anything for the last 6 months. It was never going to work if it was state by state or conference by conference. Each level had to work together to pull this off. Pitting states against each other was and is just one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in the U.S.

I have a chubby thinking about all the pain trump worshipping walverines, whose entire identity is cheering for minorities (who they hate off the field) playing for a school they didn't attend, will endure. Every Saturday I will wake up and picture them crying about the libs cancelling THEIR football season and smile.

I'll preface with: I'm certainly not trying to argue.. I 100% believe players who've lost this season deserve another season scholarship.

But there are some logistical issues, right?

1. Amount of scholarship players. If we're capped at 85 and grant another season to all players.. with 17-25 freshmen coming onto scholarship, is the NCAA going to allow 110 players on scholarship for a season? Two seasons?

2. When does that extra class have to be off scholarship? You're going to bury some kids on the depth chart at most schools that would have expected to play next season.. are they just screwed then? How does a coach pitch playing time to a recruit right now if they're looking at 3-4 years behind older players?

3. Financials... I don't pretend to know how solvent most athletic departments are, but having an extra 17-25 players on scholarship would bring on some additional costs with room/board, healthcare, etc. I don't think UM or OSU would feel much pain.. but Eastern Michigan? Toledo? Those schools would feel some pain I would think.

Those are just questions that I wonder about, I'm sure other issues will come into play if it's decided all players get an extra year of eligibility.

That would be the right thing to do, but I have my doubts about whether or not it’ll happen. Does everyone get an extra year, or just the seniors who are on their way out? What does that do about the scholarship limits for any given team?

And then if you get past that, there’s the financial matter of having another 10-25 guys on scholarship for another year you weren’t anticipating them to have them for. Not to mention all the freshmen coming in and expecting their scholarship, too. Some schools might sit there and say “I just flat out can’t afford to have these many guys on scholarship.” What do you do with the schools who can’t afford to do this vs. the bigger schools that can?

I don’t disagree that this would be the right thing and most ethical thing to do. But the amount of moving parts to it has me skeptical that it’ll actually happen. I’d say it’s just as likely, if not more so, that your seniors are given their firm handshake and a foot in the ass on the way out the door.

If someone else were president, coronavirus would still be here, and we would still not have a vaccine, and we still would not have contact amateur sports right now. So blame whomever you want in order to feel better but it would not matter who the president is, we still would not have CFB this fall.
