Final Regular Season bracketology
9 seed in Tulsa against..................South Carolina with No. 1 overall Kansas looming in the second round. In safely.
9 seed in Buffalo against Oklahoma State with Villanova looming in the second round. In safely.
Second 9 seed at No. 34 overall seed.
First 9 seed at No. 33 overall.
So a 7 or 10 seed seems highly possible.
Well, if Beilein is concerned about it, you'd sure as hell hope he would address it. No excuse not to beat a 12-17 team tomorrow.
Seriously doubt it. We're a 9. Lose to Nebraska and we're still a 9 or at worst a high 10. Lose in the BTT we might drop to an 11 but it won't be a play-in 11. We're safe.
Still, the best thing to do is to win out and win the BTT so we can be sure. :)
Beat Nebraska.
What is final about this? The regular seaon is not over. Most of these are updated daily and there are 2 days of games left before the BTT.
And... Rutgers beats Illinois. Guess Palm is going to have to change things.
is how much each game means to the teams that play them. Rutgers is only playing out the string but because of what time of year it is they play their hearts out, come back from 10 down, and beat the Ilini. That place erupted like they were the ones going to the big dance. Next to Christmas I don't know if there is another 'most wonderful time' of the year.
Just lost to Rutgers. Bye bye, Illini.
EDIT: Just noticed WH already mentioned it.
They never were...
They were over the line.
car is green.
Rutgers played a lot of teams very tough this year, especially at the end. They finally got a decent one.
Lunardi had them in last 4 out and just said (Live on ESPN) something like, "I won't overreact to a single outcome. Road losses just don't change things that much." It's something I wish some Michigan fans would understand.
that they don't change things "that much" but when you're already on the outside looking in you can't afford to take a small step back. You have to take steps forward. It would take a miracle for Illinois to get an at-large spot at this point.
Vandy is 16-14 and on the bubble this year! They need to win today at home against Florida. The last part of my post was due to my frustrastion from the reaction on this board to the NW loss.
from the NW loss (from me at least) was the missed opportunity to get a quality road win and move further up the S-curve. Would have been sitting in an ever-attractive 7 seed spot right now, with a chance to possibly move up.
I don't care about just making the tourney. I want to advance and I think this team has the taent and experience to make a run. It'll be frustrating if we're sitting on the 8/9 line which is really tough to advance from.
Also, losing in that way - missing a shot that should have been the last of the game only to get bombed for a full court TD under 2 seconds - is frustrating in and of itself.
Totally agree that panic about not making the tourney is a bit hysterical at this point.
Mentality? It isn't a mentality. It is college basketball.
I'm not going to pretend to be a sports psychologist or 'feelings ball' analyst. The reaction to that game by fans was extreme for me. They've done the work necessary to get into the tournament. They can win games to improve their seed and chance at winning more games.
Bubble! j/k. The other side of the bubble has not been too impressive.
Of course they pull some bullshit out against Florida. Stupid Gators.
This analysis is spot on. Ty Butterfield for NCAA Commissioner!
Get in and win.
GO BLUE!!
