Brady Hoke's shorts
I had a bit of a problem with Rich Rodriguez's preference early on for the mock turtleneck under the sportcoat look. He seemed to migrate away from this, probably because he read my mgoblog post about it several years back.
I want now to suggest that Brady Hoke buy some longer, more fashionable coaching shorts. His current ones hover just a tad too high above the knee, leaving less to the imagination than one would like. This is a good point.

Brady Hoke will point at you while wearing his man shorts, and your knees will buckle with a flood of emotion...

If you were watching the Big Ten Network last night you would have noticed that Al Borges shorts are probably the same size.... but Borges is larger than Hoke. I'd let them dress however they want as long as they win games.

Hoke attends formal events in his windshirt and shorts, just like he will coach the ohio game in late november in his windshirt amd shorts.

Add style trend setter to Brady Hoke's many accomplishments.

It didn't matter how cold it was, Brady Hoke would wear shorts outside for practice.
This is one of the lasting memories Jarrett Irons, a two-time all-Big Ten linebacker for Michigan, has of Hoke, a former defensive-line coach for the Wolverines.
"He always said, 'I want to feel it. I want to feel this passion, what it feels like to be outside. I don't want any long pants or sweats to take away that feeling."

Those aren't coach shorts. These are coach shorts:
Also these:

This. I was looking for pictures of these, and you beat me to it. I thought it was a law that every coach is supposed to wear these shorts, and the OP is compaining that Hoke's need to be longer?

The football coach at my high school had front, rear and side butts and wore these....he was a great coach with a disturbing multi-butt facade.
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:04 PM ^
...and he wore them while teaching our drivers ed class. In June.

As long as I don't have to see dong poking out the bottom, I say Hoke and Borges should go even shorter with the shorts. It will distract the other team but our guys will be used to it. Huge advantage on Saturdays.

We need some real football, don't we?
August 23rd, 2011 at 6:18 PM ^
The guy is in his 50s, not a founding member of the Fab Five. How much longer do they need to be?
August 23rd, 2011 at 6:24 PM ^
Might I suggest some skinny pants and some Vans for Hoke's new look? Untied of course.

I'd love to see Brady in a Kilt

His shorts are fine, that is how men wear shorts. We didn't hire P Diddy.

That's your go to hip hop guy? haha
August 23rd, 2011 at 6:37 PM ^
Damn, in the photo you can see what a wide body Big Will is, he would force a double team just on the basis of his width.

that Hoke "gets it" when it comes to Michigan tradition.

Our basketball team wears long shorts, and our football coaches wear shorter shorts. That is the natural order of things.

Being a Michigan native, I will be happy to see Brady on the sidelines in his shorts. I have to say that although I really did like RR, I was annoyed to see him on the sidelines of the spring game and later season games all bundled up like he was going to Alaska. Brady has a little more meat on him and he can tolerate the weather a little better. I also used to cringe watching all the Florida recruits sitting in the stands in their hoodies when there were snow flurries. Doesn't anyone tell these guys what the projected weather forecast is for their visits?
August 23rd, 2011 at 7:40 PM ^
Brady has a little more meat on him and he can tolerate the weather a little better. That's a very friendly way of putting it.
August 23rd, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
Annoyed becasue RR wore a coat? What the hell difference does it make. The spring game in 2010 was damn cold and windy, I wish I had been bundled up like he was (I'm taking your word that he was).
August 23rd, 2011 at 8:34 PM ^
Obviously you are forgetting that Fielding Yost coached every single game of his career while wearing nothing but a tank top and high-water slacks rolled up to the knee, no matter the temperature.
/Cue photoshoppers
There's also that line in "The Victors" where we call the University of Chicago a bunch of pussies for wearing sleeves in the winter time. Pretty sure it's why they gave up the game.

Brady's tight shorts and 1990's windbreaker make him look tough. He walks the walk and talks the talk.
