Brady Hoke's shorts

Submitted by Marvin on

I had a bit of a problem with Rich Rodriguez's preference early on for the mock turtleneck under the sportcoat look. He seemed to migrate away from this, probably because he read my mgoblog post about it several years back.

I want now to suggest that Brady Hoke buy some longer, more fashionable coaching shorts. His current ones hover just a tad too high above the knee, leaving less to the imagination than one would like. This is a good point.

If you were watching the Big Ten Network last night you would have noticed that Al Borges shorts are probably the same size.... but Borges is larger than Hoke.  I'd let them dress however they want as long as they win games.

It didn't matter how cold it was, Brady Hoke would wear shorts outside for practice.

This is one of the lasting memories Jarrett Irons, a two-time all-Big Ten linebacker for Michigan, has of Hoke, a former defensive-line coach for the Wolverines.

"He always said, 'I want to feel it. I want to feel this passion, what it feels like to be outside. I don't want any long pants or sweats to take away that feeling."

As long as I don't have to see dong poking out the bottom, I say Hoke and Borges should go even shorter with the shorts.  It will distract the other team but our guys will be used to it.  Huge advantage on Saturdays.

/Cue for someone to insert photo of Peter Griffin during his Daisy Dukes phase

Being a Michigan native, I will be happy to see Brady on the sidelines in his shorts. I have to say that although I really did like RR, I was annoyed to see him on the sidelines of the spring game and later season games all bundled up like he was going to Alaska. Brady has a little more meat on him and he can tolerate the weather a little better. I also used to cringe watching all the Florida recruits sitting in the stands in their hoodies when there were snow flurries. Doesn't anyone tell these guys what the projected weather forecast is for their visits?

Obviously you are forgetting that Fielding Yost coached every single game of his career while wearing nothing but a tank top and high-water slacks rolled up to the knee, no matter the temperature.

There's also that line in "The Victors" where we call the University of Chicago a bunch of pussies for wearing sleeves in the winter time.  Pretty sure it's why they gave up the game.
