source??
over the last week according to a "source" that those mods know. Everyone seems to be keeping cool on it since I am pretty sure nobody except the family really knows anything and this has been way too much drama for most of the fanbase with McDowell being in, out, a lock, gone, maybe here, to committed elsewhere. Fair question to ask by the OP if the OP was reading any of that speculation.
source??
I thought that ship had sailed a long time ago.
The source of the rumblings was UMichMSW07's stomach.
State is probably still te favorite but no one is ou including Michigan. He thinks it will be resolved by April 1. The link is below and the McDowell part starts at about 5:50
Edit: the original link didn't work. It has been corrected.
Staee fans are becoming more unhinged than ever over this. For folks who believe recruiting doesn't matter, this has them half mad. They were posting stuff about Sam I won't repeat here.
The only thing worse than that ONE picture of ONE person mispelling "State" when vandalizing, probably while spraypainting drunk in the dark, is that Michigan fans Will. Not. Let. It. Go. Can we just drop this already? Or at least not feel the need to bring it out at EVERY opprotunity?
It's funny because it's real. It's not like some made up derision like Sparty calling M fans "Walverines" or "ScUM". Some Sparty fans actually did that. They earned the "Staee" moniker.
Now get off my lawn.
the use of Bolivia and Morans has been around longer than Staee, it's not like this is a new thing,
For the "old school" guys who remember Mike Tyson from his fighting days it was actually "Bolivian".
I have been a lurking here for years. Never knew where the whole Bolivia thing came from.. I thought they were going far far away. Count me informed Bolivia = Bolivian ≈ oblivious. Count me back from Bolivia.
Many believed that photo captured the ethos of the MSU fanbase so perfectly that it must be remembered forever. Kind of like the V-J photo of the sailor kissing the nurse in Times Square captured the ethos of postwar America.
Actually, doesn't that just prove that the feelings evoked by an image can be more culturally important than the facts behind the image itself? Hence justifying the use of "STAEE"? That is, the picture perfectly captures the sense of larger situation, even if the literal event depicted was not particularly representative.
The flag-raising photo from Iwo Jima and the Eddie Adams picture of Nguyen Ngoc Loan executing a Viet Cong prisoner are other good examples.
Is that what she says now? The picture tells a different story.
bravo
It's funny at times but annoying when it's how MSU is exclusively referred to. Same with 'Ohio'.
whatever bro STAEE
quick, go tell mom!
already
Pretty claseless.
I'd like to thank the mods for not letting this site deteriorate to that level.
As long as they have Narduzzi, recruiting stars shouldn't matter to them. The dude is legit. The day he leaves MSU will be as big a boon for UM as if we'd landed 10 5 stars.
"rumblings" Come on man, don't do this to the good people on this board.
Please only post in Drunk Uncle-esque rants... thank you.
If not MSU, then out-of-state is what I'm reading.
So which is it? Rumbles or ramble? I need to know!
he can't drive the car this weekend.
She called all the Rivals people to report it because Scout wouldn't hold a press conference for her. Also, she wanted to announce the launch of her new book called "Parenting: You know what's best for your son in all circumstances." Chapter 1 was called "You do you girl even if your actions damage your son's reputation." Chapter 2 was called "How to extend your 15 minutes of fame." Chapter 3 was a comparative study of American universities finding Michigan State to be the only school in the country where shenanigans take place. I don't want to spoil the rest of the book, but the 1,684 page autobiography in Chapter 7 holds a special place in my heart.
America, I have given you all and now I'm nothing...
You act like choosing State is like choosing to become a meth dealer. At a certain point, you need to let your ADULT son to make his own decisions.
While he might be a legal adult, 18 year olds are still really kids. They still have a ton of maturing to do.
Her mom's case might by more sympathetic if she actually outlined why she didn't want him there. She won't say and given how rare this is, she doesn't really have the benefit of the doubt.
It obviously wasn't good.
I think people also realize that she hasn't had training in public relations. She is responding emotionally when she and her son are attacked. I can't blame her, but it's making things worse.
I don't see her as someone who is trying to embarrass her son. They are obviously close because he has stuck by her except for one brief period around National Signing Day.
I hope they get good advice and reach a solution that works for everyone.
Mom still does not like MSU, and she and Malik are trying to shore things up. She does not like the non-academic atmosphere at MSU and wants him to go somewhere else. It's still a fluid situation, and from everything I've heard, Michigan isn't totally out of it. They're also not going after him hard because he doesn't like hard sells and they don't want to turn him off.
At this point, is this a prospect we would want UM getting? I mean, he's a legit 5-star physically true, and maybe this is just conformation bias, but prospects that jump around, don't sign on signing day, drama and family stuff that draw out this much...just seems they don't end up being the best for the team.
... difficult to say no to an in-state recruit with that much upside. You have to think that the drama won't just disappear though, and it must have an effect on him. The question the coaches have to answer is will it be a distraction for him and the team.
But until the young man is able to speak candidly and publicly for himself, I will try reserve judgment. Admittedly, this won't be easy, especially considering his obvious affinity towards Staee.
It has been said on this board before -- family drama could potentially be due to no fault of his own.
Reading through some of the Jason Avant articles in the wake of Avant's release from the Eagles reminded me of the long journey these kids sometimes endure, from immature teenager to adult role model. Only time will tell what path Malik chooses.
Pryor comes to mind when I think of someone who dragged things out like this. But he was in a situation where he could do whatever he wanted. I believe Hoke and Mattison would keep him in check or he'd transfer.
I know you're not equating the two, but we should keep in mind that Pryor chose to carry it out past NSD for _________________ (who knows?) reason. McDowell's situation is a little bit different in that he clearly wants to go to MSU, but his parents do not see eye to eye with him. If it were up to McDowell, this would all be over with and he wouldn't be garnering this much attention right now.
