Angelique Chengelis: Wormley thinks Hurst will be back & Harbaugh thinks Drake could play

Submitted by Indonacious on

Wormley says his "gut feeling" is Hurst will be back at UM next year

Granted this likely means nothing but nice to hear this way vs. a "no comment"...

Harbaugh on Big Ten call: "where he's at physically...what i've seen in practice" says Drake Johnson should be ready to play this weekend

I'm not going to pretend to know what a college kid whom I've never met before is thinking, but he probably can see the potential of what next year's line could be. Right now he's a backup, but next year he has a chance to be a starter on what could be as good a starting 4 as we have this year.

You can name all the D-linemen on the team and that's all well and good but the reality is any combo of those guys would be a big step down from the all Conference potential 2nd line we have right now. They're going to come back down to earth. The D-line will be good, but in a more human kind of way.

I said as far back as 2013 that Michigan had recruited a NFL DLine on 24/7Sports. People thought I was being optimistic to the point of being homerish. Time vindicated me.

In short, I was ahead of the curve. One of my biggest annoyances with Hoke was that our DLine was not dominant. He made it "very good" but it wasn't "elite" until 2015.

I've watched the tapes of the players we signed in 2015 and 2016. They have similar talent but they will need to mature physically and mentally. Harbaugh knows we will be young in 2017 (like Ohio State is in 2016) after the talent exodus.

Will there be a drop off? Probably. But it won't be steep as some think. People will come to understand what reloading truly looks like. Seeing will be believing.
